  • Maybelline New York Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Shadow

This is actually an edited version of my initial review of these. I decided to edit my review because I have since found more uses for these, which makes them even more amazing, in my opinion. ;) So I got these in five different shades and they are all extremely blendable, very very pigmented and last all day. When I first started using them without a primer, they would sometimes go on a bit patchy (especially the lighter colors), but with a primer - the application is perfect, they never crease on me and they look just as good at the end of the day as they did in the morning. Since I first reviewed these shadows I was only using them as shadows, but since then I have experimented a bit more with them and found out that there are more way you can use them... They are amazing as bases for glitter or just sparkly shadow. They can as well work as bases for matte eye shadows, because you can use them to bring out the color of your shadow even more. Just like some people use the "NYX" Milk Jumbo Eye Shadow pencil to boost the colors of their shadows. Except that with these you have a lot more option and I honestly find that "NYX" Jumbo pencils crease a lot and are very overrated. So definitely try these as a base for your shadow as well. And the other way I have been using these lately is for lining my eyes. I literally use them as I would use a cream eye shadow, and I find that it works out great. They don't smudge and they last all day. I'm really surprised that they don't market them as liners as well... So yes, definitely still recommending them to all... ;)

    Carmex Moisture Plus

Bitter, doesn't get absorbed by the lips - very much like flavored Vaseline...

I got one of these as a gift, from a friend who recently went on a short trip to NYC. So the one I have is the limited edition one in “soft vanilla flavor” with an SPF 15. Definitely fell in love with the packaging right away… The tube is the same shape and size as the one pictured on “totalbeauty.com” but the color is different. It’s got these sort of waves of different colors painted on randomly, which makes it look very unique and definitely easy to find for someone who has a tendency to accumulate tons of miscellaneous items on the bottom of their purse (such as myself ). So the claim on the package is that this balm has a Sunscreen (SPF 15) and that it is water-resistant for 80 minutes. I would think that it should be really useful for a swimmer or for someone who exercises a lot. For myself, I am very sad to say that I found myself wiping it off after about a half an hour of wearing it on my lips. I really did try loving it. When you first apply it, the texture is very similar to Vaseline, it smells like vanilla flavored Vaseline and it does, kind of feel moisturizing, but I feel that it doesn't really get absorbed by my lips, so even though my lips were visibly softer, I didn't feel like it was benefiting them on the inside in any kind of way. Also, for some weird reason, I constantly had to wipe my teeth off with my tongue because somehow, this balm was incessantly sticking to them. As well, the very bitter taste of this balm was overpowering to me. So all those things together with the fact that after about 20 minutes, I started feeling this stuff collecting in the corners of my lips inevitably led to me just taking everything off after about a half an hour… So as pretty as it looked, unfortunately I cannot recommend this to anyone. And I am not saying that this balm doesn't do what it claims to do or isn't efficient. It might possibly work really well at repelling water and protecting your lips from sun damage – I just can’t recommend this based on the fact that wearing it on your lips is not enjoyable at all.

  • Vichy Laboratories Corrective Foundation

I don't even know where to start with this one... Love it!!! I've been using it for the last two years and haven't looked back - I really am in love with this foundation. My skin tone is somewhere between NC 20-25 and NW 20-25, and I use this in Opal (15). It's a perfect match! Either way, the color options are pretty good, so it's not difficult to find your match. And another great thing about this foundation (color wise) is that it really works with you; it just kind of blends into your skin and adapts to it... Feels like second skin and is completely unnoticeable. Coverage is so buildable that it's pretty much up to you. I use a pea size amount and it's enough for my entire face. I've used it with my fingers and with a brush as well, and both work very well. If you prefer to use a brush, you can dab it all over your face first and then buff it in with a brush. It doesn't dry too fast like some other foundations can, so you don't have to rush like crazy ;) to buff it all in. The texture of this foundation is very thin and almost liquidy, and yet I find that it lasts all day and it doesn't oxidize at all (at least on my skin). If you use this for heavy coverage, then you will need to retouch during the day, since this is not a matting foundation and it's not drying at all. The scent is very light, non-irritating, non-intrusive. I really like this a lot and will continue using it. I had actually been using "Clarins"'s Everlasting Foundation prior to starting this, because everyone raved so much about it. And it was okay, but since I started using Vichy, I realized that I've been missing out on making my skin look and feel more natural... And the price is so much better than some of the higher end foundations as well. Would definitely recommend this product, especially if you don't need very heavy coverage and are just looking for something to even out your skin tone before applying your makeup.

  • E.L.F. Studio Concealer Brush

    E.L.F. Studio Concealer Brush

Not the same brush as it was 2 years ago... Good for cream eye shadow...

Okay! The first thing I have to say is that this concealer brush is not at all the same brush as it was 2 years ago. I don’t know why they decided to change it, because all the positive reviews for this brush (on ELF’s website) stop at about a year and a half ago… And this is when people started having mixed feelings about it. A lot of us have bought this brush after having seen so many good reviews, about how soft the bristles are and how perfect this brush is for your delicate under-eye area. I got this brush about a month ago, and only now have I found a use for it. I use it to apply cream eye shadow, and for that purpose it works very well, but I will most definitely never apply my concealer with this brush. This brush is very stiff and in my opinion not thick enough to be a good concealer brush. It is very pointy as well, to the point where you can almost use it to line your eyes. I think that ELF’s “Studio Perfect Concealer Brush” is really the perfect concealer brush, and I honestly use it every single day. So it really does confuse me as to why they would make such a small, skinny stiff brush and still call it a concealer brush. On the other hand I would definitely recommend this brush for someone who is looking for a good cream shadow brush. I know that for someone with long nails, it can very often be difficult to reach the inner corners of the eye and apply the shadow evenly in those areas. So this brush definitely gets rid of that problem. And for its quality, I would give this brush 10 stars, because it’s well made and doesn't shed at all. But unfortunately since I will never use it for its intended purpose, I’m only giving it 6 stars.

  • E.L.F. Studio Cream Blush

    E.L.F. Studio Cream Blush

    Very pigmented.

I own these in two different colours and love how pigmented they are. I've heard a few bad reviews about this product, but I think it's due to the fact that it's not easy at first to find a perfect application technique. After watching some YouTube videos, I find that it's best applied with a stippling brush. You can use one from ELF's "Studio" line brushes (the small stippling brush works very well); it's only three dollars on their website and very often they have 50% off sales, so it won't break the bank or anything...;) And you only need a very tiny amount of this blush on your cheeks, because the color is so pigmented. I would however say the cream blushes are not for those with very oily skin, as a general rule, unless you use a very matting foundation underneath. So I would recommend to avoid it if your skin is oily. But if you like cream blushes in general, this, when applied properly will give you a very healthy dewy look, and very little bit goes a long way, so I believe it to be a good product, especially when you factor in the price. Would definitely recommend this for cream blush users... ;)

Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Gold Ultra Lift and Strengthening Eye Capsules

Did not enjoy using these and didn't notice any benefits...

I don’t know really… I feel kind of guilty, giving this product five stars because it claims to have restorative properties and contain amazing ingredients, but I just didn’t get or feel any benefits of any of those on myself… I do love the container these little capsules came in and I still have it and plan to use it for something else… Maybe Advil or Tylenol, in case I get a headache or something... But no, I wouldn’t repurchase this ever and don’t recommend this to anyone… If any of you have ever used vitamin E or have squeezed vitamin E out of its capsule – this is exactly what these feel and smell like: vitamin E. I occasionally squeeze a capsule or two onto my skin if it feels extremely dry, and I’ve used it on scars in the past, so I do know the scent, color and texture of it pretty well… Noticed absolutely no difference between these capsules and the vitamin E capsules… They are just as messy as the vitamin E capsules, not any more absorbent, so your skin feels just as greasy and oily after these as it does after using the vitamin E capsules… If you’ve never used vitamin E, it’s almost the same feeling as rubbing some olive or vegetable oil onto your skin… So maybe if these capsules could somehow be more absorbent and less oily, I would have noticed or felt the benefits of the ingredients contained in them, but since my skin never got a chance to hold on to that stuff, I didn’t notice any restorative effect on my eyes, face or throat, as this product claims to have. And no, I would not recommend this to anyone… If you can afford to spend a little bit more, invest in a good serum, such as Lancôme’s “Généfique” or Estée Lauder’s “Advanced Recovery Complex”… I know that they are a bit more pricey, but you are guaranteed to see results with those…

  • Biotherm Rides Repair

    Biotherm Rides Repair

Very moisturizing but better as a night cream...

This cream has a very light, pleasant scent and feels extremely silky when you pick it up with your fingers… I don’t really know how to explain it properly… It’s like when you eat the “Haagen Dazs” ice cream and you just feel that it’s so much smoother than other ice creams… That’s how this cream feels to me… I don’t know if it’s because it’s well homogenized or just has a silk like ingredient in it but it feels incredibly smooth and silky… The scent is lightly rosy or floral I would say, but it’s not very noticeable, so I don’t think it would bother anyone, even if you are not crazy about this particular scent. So I got this for normal/combination skin, which is what I have… When I apply this cream it feels very good on my face and doesn’t irritate it in any way, which is great because my skin can be sensitive to some products… I feel like it moisturizes my face extremely well, but it never gets completely absorbed by my skin which would definitely be a problem if I were to use it under my makeup… After using it for a couple of weeks, I can tell you that my skin feels softer and more moisturized and maybe that makes the fine lines appear less prominent… I’m not sure… I’m in my mid-thirties, so the fine lines I got around my eyes are still there but are just less harsh… I personally don’t believe that any cream can make your wrinkles or fine lines disappear, so the fact that I can make them look less noticeable is good news to me. So basically, I believe that this cream is a very good moisturizer which softens the look of wrinkles and fine lines over time… I would recommend it as a night moisturizer, but definitely not to be used before applying makeup…

  • Lancome Color Fever Gloss

    Lancome Color Fever Gloss

Amazing shine, not too sticky, very fine sparkles but expensive...

I got the in the color “Up In Smoke”, and I love it… But! It’s important that I mention that I got it as a gift, because I would never spend 27 dollars on a lip gloss (unless I was a millionaire of course)… So the reason I’m giving this one 9 starts is because no matter how good it is, I still think that high end brands’ glosses are ridiculously overpriced… Having said that, I will definitely agree with all those who love the quality and the effect this gloss creates on your lips. I use mine on top of other glosses or lipsticks as a highlight in the middle of my lower lip and it works amazingly… It gives a very natural shine to your lips because the sparkles it contains are very fine and are completely unnoticeable, thus giving your lips a much more sophisticated look than a gloss with large sparkle would give. I also disagree with those who say that this gloss is too sticky… Yes, it’s sticky to some extent, but on the other hand, if it wasn’t sticky at all then it wouldn’t really last, and I find that this one has a pretty good staying power, which is a big plus for me. And I love the fact that it doesn’t leave any residue on your lips and it’s not a problem at all if you need to reapply it. I find that with some other glosses, there is a weird sticky residue around your lips and you always have to kind of wipe it off before applying more to your lips… So yes, if you can afford this easily, I would definitely recommend this gloss to you, but if you are on a budget, you can definitely find other brands with very high shine glosses, which are much more affordable, such as “NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss” ($5 for one or $10 for three on their website)…

  • Yves Rocher Hydra Vegetal 24H Rich Hydraying Cream
    7.0

Yves Rocher Hydra Vegetal 24H Rich Hydraying Cream

More suitable for very dry skin, in my opinion...

I prefer this one in a “gel” version… My skin is between normal and combination, so I’m never sure what to get for it… A lot of times (such as in this case) I’ll buy two products hoping that one of them will work, unless I’ve read reviews or know someone who can recommend me one or the other… So this cream ended up being much too thick and greasy for my skin. I actually think that it would be a lot more appropriate for dry skin and not “normal to dry”. This is a very thick cream, with a silky, slightly powdery consistency… It goes on your skin very smoothly and at first it does feel very silky and light, but the problem for me was that it never really got absorbed by my skin and left it feeling and looking very greasy. Also, if you are sensitive to fragrance in your facial creams you will definitely not like this one. It has a very strong odour… To me it smells like a mixture of grass and baby powder… I also wouldn’t recommend this cream as a base for your makeup or even your primer because it’s not very absorbent and seems to somehow bypass the pores on your face, thus making them look larger under any makeup you would put on top of it… So if I were to recommend this to anyone, then it would be someone with very dry skin, looking for a night time moisturizer for their face and who would not be bothered by the fragrance in this cream… And if you have normal skin, then I would recommend that you go with the “24H Intense Hydrating Gel Cream” (the gel version of this product)… Even the gel version is quite thick in my opinion, but is a lot lighter than this cream…

  • Hydra Vegetal 24H Intense Hydrating Gel Cream
    8.0

Hydra Vegetal 24H Intense Hydrating Gel Cream

    Very good option for summer!

"YR" used to have a "Pure Calmille" gel moisturizer which I loved and used all the time, until they discontinued it. So this is the closest alternative to it for those who loved "Pure Calmille" as much as I did. It's a bit thicker though, so it's not as gel like as "Pure Calmille" but it's still very light yet it does deliver moisture to your skin without making it feel greasy. I have combination skin, so it's not easy for me to find a good moisturizer. Another one I like a lot is "L'Oréal", "Hydrafresh", just to give you an idea of something that I would compare this to. I can get this a lot cheaper though because they often have 50% off sales on their website. I do have to mention though that this gel looks more like a cream, but I guess they call it "gel" because it works in a similar way... So if you are looking for a light moisturizer and have sensitive or combination skin, I would definitely recommend this to you.
