    Clinique Touch Base for Eyes

    My shadow saver!

Since I am the not-so-proud owner of the world's slickest eyelids, I knew I needed a base. Clinique, being my brand of choice, recommended this to me, and I've never looked elsewhere. The negative reviews on this product point out how easily it drys out--but the label and website warn that the case needs to be shut TIGHTLY after use (listen for that satisfying click!). Don't have it open any longer than you have to. Mine have lasted until they're gone (several months) with no problem. Another warning: you really don't need very much of this product. A little bit goes a long way, and too much becomes difficult to spread out on your lid because it dries fast for extra-long staying power.

  • Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara

    Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara

Great until I take it off..

I have long lashes that stick straight out, and I've never quite gotten the hang of a lash curler. I bought this as soon as I saw it advertised because I was already a High Impact fan. It definitely curls my lashes up better than anything else I've ever used, except maybe Chanel Exceptionnel (of which I only had a sample). The only thing is, when I go to take it off, I am astounded by the amount of hard flakes that end up all over my eye area. It stays put until I take it off, no problem, so I guess it doesn't matter--I just worry it might somehow be damaging my lashes, if that's what it looks like when I remove it. Still, it's my favorite mascara (that I can afford), and I'll be buying it again.

  • Ulta Professional Foundation Primer

When I realized I couldn't afford to be spending $36 on Smashbox Photo Finish, I bought this (for exactly half the price). Before ever using it, I was skeptical, since Smashbox's version has a cult following and is always ranked #1; I assumed I'd be downgrading quite a bit. Really, though, I can't tell a difference. It feels exactly the same to me, and it controls my oil for the same length of time, as well. The only thing I notice is that I use just a little bit more of this product than I did Smashbox's, but no more than a half-pump more. Also, just like with Smashbox's, the product stops pumping as soon as halfway through, and you have to unscrew the lid and scrape the long tube around the sides to get the product out. Maybe everyone should start making this stuff in little tubs instead?

  • Avon True Color Blush

    Avon True Color Blush

    Too good to be true

This blush is so good that it's almost TOO good. Even though I use a full-sized blush brush and not the one that's included, I still find that the color is too intense and not very blendable. It lasts, all right, but my fiance says I look like a clown when I wear it, no matter how much I try to tone it down! Usually I have the exact opposite problem with blushes..

    Clinique Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss

    Great for lip balm addicts!

This is the first gloss I've ever used that I didn't have to layer it on top of lip balm. My lips don't feel dry for hours and hours! I have it in Raspberry and Currant and am officially addicted.

  • Maybelline New York Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Powder Foundation

I've been a Clinique foundation wearer forever, but wanted to try mineral makeup without shelling out $22 for it in case I didn't like it.. and I'm so glad I did! Like the other review said, this is great for sopping up oil, which I need for my greasy skin in the summer. I was also exceedingly pleased with the coverage it gave for a powder. I've always had problems with foundations looking very obvious around my eyebrow area, and this one didn't--a miracle. I may never even get around to trying Clinique's.. Maybelline has impressed me!

  • Clinique Airbrush Concealer Illuminates, Perfects

After trying to hide my genetic dark circles from the time I was about age 12 on, I gave up on covering them. Then at the Clinique counter, the woman used this on my blemishes and under my eyes, and after I looked in the mirror I was sold.. I wasn't a raccoon anymore! I love that it serves both purposes, and for that the slightly higher price is worth it. It is just a tad too sheer for major breakouts, though.

  • CoverGirl Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers Lipgloss

I was looking for a grape-colored gloss and decided to try this product in Grape Splash. My lips felt moisturized and were shiny, but as far as color.. not so much, and what little there was seemed to fade in minutes. As a basic everyday lip gloss, Fruit Spritzers are fine.. but if you want color, I'd recommend something different. I returned it.

    Clinique Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion

Left me drier than the Sahara..

Like every other product in the Acne Solutions 3-Step, this product was simply too drying and irritating to my skin. It was perhaps the worst product of the three for almost painful tightness and flakiness. Yes, it kept acne away, but unfortunately, it left a more noticeable kind of redness and constant itchiness in its place. For people with super sensitive skin like mine, I wouldn't recommend it.. whether it prevents acne or not.

  • Clinique Acne Solutions Cleansing Foam

Like every other product in the Acne Solutions 3-Step, this product was simply too drying and irritating to my skin. Yes, it kept acne away, but unfortunately, it left a more noticeable kind of redness and constant itchiness in its place. After washing, my face was so tight from dryness that I'd rather risk the acne. For people with super sensitive skin like mine, I wouldn't recommend it..
