  • LORAC Pro Cream Eyeliner

I have green eyes. I was looking for a cruelty-free & paraben free eyeliner in a plummy or copper shade that was easy to apply. The sales girls at Ulta pointed me towards this product (we compared this to another shade from another brand & all three of us decided this one had the nicest pop). First- I love the color & consistency. Experts would probably rate this a "beginner" because it is very easy to use. As much as I aspire to be an eyeliner champ, I'm not & this made me look like I am. What set this apart from me is the packaging- the wand closes up inside the container so there is no lid to get lost, nothing to sharpen & the line remains predictable. For me it does a thick line & I wouldn't call it precise, but I would call it pretty. Definitely a winner & will be purchasing again. It has a real depth of color & richness in the formulation that I liked a lot.

  • PMD Personal Microderm
    9.0

    PMD Personal Microderm

    Boost Cell Turnover & Brightness

Timely exfoliation is key to skin health. I have a large inventory of scrubs, masks & cleansers geared towards specifically improving exfoliation- but they weren't quite enough, I needed a physical removal. My skin is fairly pale & very fine- By "fine," I mean I have very small pores especially on my nose. Just like many curly girls wish they had straight hair & many women with straight hair had curls... Let me tell you small pores as opposed to large ones bring their own special set of challenges. Because when skin can't express itself, it results in bulbous, under the skin major eruptions that will eventually find their way out. Unpleasant. So- now in my early 4os, having taken decent care of my skin I'm confronting the usual signs of normal aging & looking for ways to retain suppleness & boost turnover, address small age spots. I've used the PMD twice. I was extremely cautious & used the white disc as directed the first time without much result. I waited two days & went back & used the regular disc on face & d├ęcolletage. I experienced a bit of redness that went away quickly & the texture of my skin was velvety smooth. I know when my skin is at peak health, it eagerly absorbs creams & serums, drinking them in. When I'm behind in the exfoliation process, topicals just sit there without immediate absorbing. Absorption was significantly improved after just one use & even better after the second. The device is a little louder than I would like- someone in the next room would probably hear it being used. It is very light in the hand, easy to control & comes with a long enough, lightweight cord to make using it easier. Personally I'm glad it doesn't have demanding batteries. The introduction dvd is adequate. My device did not come with any extra creams or treatments, so I used a hodgepodge of my own. Be sure to use a gentle cleanser & witch hazel toner. Optionally I was able to use a sonic cleaner. The PMD is a worthy addition to a weekly beauty routine that encourages exfoliation. My two small age spots were greatly faded & with regular use, are en route to disappear entirely. Texture is improved, my skin feels overall more plush. I'm working on an area with a small white scar & that also seems less bright, while overall brightness is improved, achieving a more overall skintone which both looks & is healthy. Age spots/sun damage is definitely, noticeably diminished. I regard this as a big beauty treat & plan to include it in my weekly beauty routine for a long time to come. Full disclosure, I received this unit as a Total Beauty insider which was a bit of a thrill. I am a big believer of examining a lot of reviews when contemplating an online purchase & give this unit high marks for effectiveness.

  • Olay Quench Daily Lotion

    Olay Quench Daily Lotion

    Don't be a Fool

I recall getting a sample of this in the mail when it was launched, using it on my hands and not really thinking much of it one way, or the other. It's body lotion- what could be different about it? "Next!" What a fool I was. I wasted at least two years using other stuff, when my skin could have been loving it up with Quench!!!! This provides a nice clean moisturizing effect that is lasting & somehow strikes that perfect balance between dewy, plush & clean (not tacky feeling). There is a silkiness and a feeling somehow of the skin being strengthened that can't be matched here. Deducting a point for the ridiculous pricing.

  • Olay Regenerist 14-Day Skin Intervention

I've repurchased this twice- Intense peptide action is what I suspect is key to this remarkable product. Precious few products on the market are as advertised- Olay 14-Day Skin Intervention Kit is one. If your skin is in dire need of quick exfoliation over a number of days, this little baby will do the trick. At certain points, you will actually almost "molt!" Although that is a little gross, it is a necessary step in renewing one's skin after those seasonal lags or times when for whatever combinations of reasons- stress, diet, etc. when your skin just isn't up to snuff. This really gives my skin a terrific jump start almost instantaneously. Refines texture & reveals glowng new visibly healthier skin. Highly recommended & will repurchase. Pleasant to apply & I found myself laughing at the lengths I went to to squeeze out every last mini-drop. There is enough product, but it is so good it leaves one wanting more. I would advise sticking to using this at night as recommended & being prepared to give your skin a thorough washing in the morning with an exfoliating scrub with a good bit of grit. If you use it in the daytime after you apply makeup I think you may have cause to regret that, as it gently removes layers of skin that just kind of peel away. Could be inconvenient in certain settings. Do use at night.

  • Shiseido Pureness Deep Cleansing Foam

Impressive instant texture change to the skin - feels like a wonderland spa treatment with intense silkening. A shower favorite. A pea-sized "serving" creates a luxurious super foaming action that drenches skin with moisture. Velvety/silky result with a lovely scent. One tube lasts quite a long time, very concentrated forumula. A must have or desperately wish I had product. Just lovely. Have repurchased 3x.

  • Philosophy Purity Made Simple 3-in-1 Cleanser for Face and Eyes

Pleasant smell & wonderfully nourishing. Leaves a wonderful velvety feeling to the skin- a just kissed sensation. Superb for a moment or two of daily pampering, infuses skin with a wonderful softness that lasts. A keeper, but only a value if you purchase a ginormous sized bulk bottle. I wish the forumulation was a bit thicker in consistency. Lasts ten forevers.

  • Wella Kolestral Intensive Conditioner
    10.0

    Wella Kolestral Intensive Conditioner

Perfect 10: Still the Gold Standard of Deep Conditioning

My thirsty curls were introduced to Wella's Kolestral formula in high school- nearly two decades of scientific advances later, this product is still the unbeatable gold standard of deep at-home conditioning with heat. You can use it with a cap & hair dryer for 20 mins, or sleep in it overnight with your hair wrapped. There's nothing else like this product- an oldie, but certainly a goodie. Not always easy to find- and be sure you get the original formula w/lanolin. This creates luxurious spiral curls in my hair that lasts for days - nice springy, shiny oh so nourished locks. Absolutely a must have, when you find it, stock up. Add a few drops of olive oil or coconut oil, and you have a deep penetrating conditioner that rivals the most expensive boutique products on the market. Similarly named products are a pale imitation of the original. If I could rate this an 11, I truly would.

  • Yes to Carrots C Today or C You in the Morning Moisturizing Day Cream, for Dry to Sensitive Skin

A fine moisture boosting cream that seems to dramatically improve radiance with better than average moisture retention. Absorbs quickly & is well priced. There's something about Yes to Carrots that feels as if it needs to be reapplied often- while hydrating their formulas don't seem long lasting, or over rich. But for instant moisture boost, I like this product. Not a first choice, but no slouch either.

  • CHI Silk Infusion
    10.0

    CHI Silk Infusion

    wonder product

Painfully expensive, close to worth it. Unbelievable silkening, as the name would suggest. Powerful, concentrated- hair just drinks it up & seems instantly nourished- But again, painfully expensive & near impossible to find on sale. A keeper.

  • Lancome Photogenic Skin-Illuminating Makeup

As a former Elizabeth Arden foundation fan who then tried to love Laura Mercier's foundation but couldn't- I find the Lancome Photogenic line refreshingly light & just right. Seems to have medium coverage & blend in easily- to me it is unobtrusive, non-cakey & a nice fluid texture with a good consistency that spreads just right & is slightly clingy, but not cakey. Love the SPF & the line smoothing properties. I don't know what more it could do, if that makes sense. Flattering real world colors also.
