  • Arbonne RE9 Advanced Cellular Renewal Masque

So when I was given the opportunity to try the Cellular Renewal Masque, I was ecstatic. Now I have tried other anti-aging masques before and found myself holding back tears as I am faced with minimal results. I am happy to report that this masque is truly advanced. The gentle exfoliation is the result of a mixture of alpha and beta hydroxyl acids. I also love that there’s fruit, pineapple and papaya enzymes, that work with your skin to release the dead skin cells. This combination provides smooth, soft tone and texture of the skin. The masque also contains niacin, which is fancy for good ole’ vitamin B. It’s this amazing vitamin that provides the immediate glow. There is a chockfull of other age fighting ingredients in this masque, as well: marine lavender, algae extract, kudzu and of course, vitamin C. It’s like going for an anti-aging facial…in one, single jar! To see the immediate results yourself, just apply the masque to clean skin and let it absorb for approximately 7 minutes. It is completely normal to feel a tingling sensation. If this sensation becomes too much for all of you with sensitive skin, only leave the masque on for 5 minutes. Then rinse away the excess with warm water, pat dry, and say hello to firmer, younger looking skin.

  • Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque

The bottom line: An absolutely wonderful product for teenage girls struggling with blackheads, clogged pores and acne. Especially pimples. I bought this quite recently over the Internet since Singapore doesn't have this in stock. Oh, it was the best S$7 I ever spent. The tube is huge, and though it came a wee bit dry and difficult to squeeze, I simply dripped a bit of tap water down the nozzle and voila, it's moist enough to squeeze through the nozzle and emerge as smooth cream. I take about a 5 cent coin measure of this and dab it on my chin, forehead and cheeks before spreading out evenly, concentrating on areas which have more zits. I then leave it to dry for 10-15 minutes, depending on how absorbed I get in the novel I read. By the 6 minute mark, normally it is dried upon my face. You roughly know when it is dry - it turns a little white and cakey, and when you smile or stretch your skin in any way you can feel the tug of the mask and little lines appearing on the smooth clay surface. This product definitely lives up to its hype of being an astringent (closing up pores, a problem I have) and drying up pimples. However, it does its job a little too well - the kaolin clay is so excellent at sucking up all the gunk from my pores, it leaves my skin 'tight' after washing it off. Actually, I could tell from the very beginning when I washed the mask off my fingertips - it left my skin feeling dry. So to circumvent the dryness and maximise on its acne-clearing magic, I normally use this as part of my night routine weekly: cleanse, then exfoliate (I use the Face Shop's White Jewel peeling gel), then apply mask and bum around. Wash off. You don't have to use facial soap, but I like to wash using facial soap again because I notice there will be bits and bobs stuck in pores and your face really has that 'earthy' smell. Apply toner, followed by a super moisturising mask (Laneige sleeping pack). Go to bed. This way, my pimples get the attention they need and they will shrink overnight, my skin will be sufficiently moisturised and glowing, and I am happy because who wouldn't be from shrinking pimples??? As other reviewers mentioned, this also works marvelously as spot treatment. Simply apply to that angry zit and leave overnight. Wake up to a flattened zit. Wonderful stuff. The only issue I have with this is that my face does look a bit green after using this, so I'm knocking off a lippie for this. I suspect the strong colouring. Oh well, take consolation in its blemish-defeating properties and the fact that the greenish cast does kind of make you look more radiant in certain lighting :)

  • Temptu AIR pod Foundation

I have been debating this for awhile, and I still find myself going back and forth on whether I really like this system or not. I have been using BareMinerals for six years, but during the winter the brushing and extra touching of the skin causes my face to get really oily. So, I thought maybe airbrushing would be a good thing - I wouldn't be touching my skin as much. Now even though I'm not brushing foundation on, I still have to do a lot of prepping before applying this foundation. I am fair, so any blemish sticks out on my skin like a beacon, and during the winter I tend to break out a bit. It is possible to use this system to conceal blemishes. I find putting it on the middle setting and getting about an inch from the blemish, going in small circles with just a light touch, works. However, even the build-up seems to be a bit sheer, and I'm finding myself adding more coverage after I'm finished applying the foundation. I love the finish. Your skin really does look great. But I'm thinking this system is really wonderful for those who have pretty clear skin, and are maybe just looking for something to even out skin tone or light scarring. The only reason I'm not sending this back right now is because my skin is pretty clear during the summer, and I want to give it a shot then.

  • MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15

My Skin tone: Pale with pink undertones, Skin type: Oily/combo, acne prone. I decided to try this foundation despite what i had heard about it the smell, people breaking out etc. as everyone's skin is different. I went for this particular foundation because A) It has a pretty good colour range B) matte finish C) Oil free D) Long wearing. I got colour matched by a really nice sales assistant and i was NW10. I made sure that i could return it if i'd opened it and had a skin reaction, luckily i could. When i applied it the next day the first thing that hit me was the smell! It is strong and not very pleasant, i don't understand why it smells, as so many other foundations don't! The colour was good and i liked the texture, coverage and matte finish. It also was build-able. It lasted pretty well throughout the day and still looked ok at the end of the day (fyi i have to blot my skin throughout the day as i get very oily). But after a few days i started to notice new spots and also spots that had started to dry out, came back again. I was annoyed and upset because i had finally found a good colour and i liked how my skin looked when wearing it! But i decided to return it as i don't want to add more spots to the ones I've already got lol! Something else i didn't like was that they don't sell it with the pump, you have to buy that as well! Its ridiculous! Anything to make money! Overall i liked the foundation but i would not buy it again as it broke me out!

  • Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush

What I think of the product: I've been using this blush for a few months now and I have used it every single day, which says a lot because I used to never wear blush. I have a few scars just in the apples of the cheeks, got chicken pox way too old (14 or 15 years old) that look as acne scars. Usually wearing blush meant bringing up attention to the most annoying flaw on my face after my efforts of covering it up. I wear peachy colors, Bobbi Brown Peach Nude is a nice option, but never wore pink, any variation of it, because of what I mentioned earlier. Well, surprisingly this blush works great, its subtle color doesn't accentuate my scars so I've been enjoying it greatly. The color, as everyone have said, doesn't look very special on the pan, but it's a very flattering brownish pink. The application: I have to swirl my brush considerably (four times, at least) on the pan in order to get it to show in my skin. Once I have the right amount it looks great, but it might bother some people. I don't mind and I would definitely buy it again.

  • Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour

I *love* Laura Mercier's Second Skin Cheek Colours! Her line of blushes is aptly named because they go on your skin so naturally and flawlessly that it really does look like it's part of your skin or, ahem, your second skin. I began by first acquiring the two that most people seem to crow about the most, Lotus Pink and Lush Nectarine. LP is pretty, but on me, it isn't so unique that I can easily differentiate it from all the other pinks out there (however, I do give it bonus points for being such a vibrant warm pink). On the other hand, I just cannot get over the beauty of Lush Nectarine. It's this gorgeously flattering vivid peach that comes to life on your cheeks and gives you the prettiest "glow from within." I find LM's blush shades seem to be much more subdued than ones from other brands and therefore you really don't have to worry too much about how much to put on or what kind of brush to use. Other notable mentions: Sweet Mandarin, Rose Petal. This is a fantastic (and extremely underrated!) blush line that is perfect for all blush lovers, even novices. I love her Second Skin blushes so much that in temporary moments of insanity I think about saying goodbye to all my other blushes and keeping hers only (emphasis on the word 'temporary,' lol). I hope she never discontinues this line!

  • Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener
    9.0

    Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener

    Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brigtner

omg.. this is the BEST undereye cover/illuminator I have used... better than YSL touche eclat and similar products. I have shade 1 and I use it over my BB Eye cream, and it smooths out beautifully, covers the last remains of a sleepless night and makes me look young and refreshed. For this alone, this is worth the money! The texture of this product is like a whipped mousse -- smooth and creamy. It spreads divinely and gives that special glow with only a very small amount of product, so despite it's price it will last a long time. The one thing I do not like about it is the inner plastic cover -- it is hard to remove (unlike MUFE who put a small tab on their cream products which can be pulled up) and once removed, it moves around and the cream gets on your fingers, brush, or you simply pick up way too much product. You do not need much of this to spread on your eyes, cheek bones or anywhere else. There is no GLIMMER.. which is a bonus for me at my age as I truly hate glimmer or glitter. This is a subtle sheen which is amazing. I have taken off a lippie for the packaging which bums me out everytime I lose product --- I will have to spatula it out and get rid of the plastic inner liner once and for all, but I will definitely repurchase.

  • Origins Quick, Hide! Concealer

HG! HG! HG! I couldn't be happier with this concealer. Shade 2 Light/Medium is pretty much the exact color of my skin. Other people may find the range of shades a bit narrow, but for most people I know who wear concealer could probably find a match. I paid $16 and change for this after tax, so the product itself is only around $15 which is amazing for the quality and the amount. The lack of questionable ingredients is what drove me to it, although I had been using paraben-free Amazing Concealer before in Light Golden, which I found was great but lacked lasting power (and at $33 for the travel size the packaging of which cracked around the tip I can't bring myself to repurchase, unless they make the tube better). This concealer dries matte a tad darker than it comes out of the tube so extra-fair beware. It covers any and all hyperpigmentation on my face with one application. I dab the doe foot applicator to the tip of a sanitized finger and apply it that way, to keep things hygenic. I find the heat from my own skin helps this blend better than a sponge. The formula does not highlight dryness at all, but rather improves my dry patches over a day of wear. The color so seamlessly blends with my skin that I can just wear this without foundation, even though my routine usually consists of at least some BB cream under it. Can't say too much how it would fare on undereye circles since I don't have bad ones and use Benefit Erase Paste under my eyes and on my lids if they look a little veiny. I imagine the formula wouldn't cause dryness on me though, since it seems to repel dryness on my blemishes and around my nostrils. Overall, I'm loving this concealer and if I ever finish it would buy again.

  • Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer

I love this concealer! For a while I was only using powder foundations and my skin was always relatively clear, but for some reason I decided to try out liquid foundations and all these different kinds of face washes for like 2 years. Unfortunately, my curiosity of new cosmetics caused my skin to become really acne-prone. By that I mean that although my skin isn't not consistently broken out, most products I try out on it breaks me out now when I used to be able to put whatever on it without the chance of clogged pores. After using all kinds of promising Asian BB Creams resulting to blackheads and clogged pores that seemed to never go away, tinted moisturizers that caused cystic acne, and all sorts of powder and liquid foundations from Sheseido (which used to be so great for my skin!) and Cover FX to Georgio Armani and Chanel, I decided to stop using foundation all together. I'd like to say that I stopped using makeup since then, but that'd be a huge lie. I picked up this concealer from my local Sephora and stopped using everything else; since then my skin has really cleared up! PROS: Doesn't break me out/clog pores Enough coverage to cover dark scars and any active blemishes Don't need a lot of product to get the job done Highly pigmented Stays put all day Easy to use Waterproof! Buildable, but not cakey CONS: Harder to remove than non-waterproof concealers/foundations Color Match (I have to mix #4 and #5 to match my NC 25 skin tone without having light or dark specks all over my face) When I first started using this concealer I didn't like it because I thought it was breaking me out until I realized that I wasn't removing it properly and that my skin developed bad reactions to setting powder; since I've fixed these problems I've loved this product. I'd say it's my HG!

  • Make Up For Ever Make Up Forever HD Microperfecting Primer

This is the first face primer I have ever used so I didn't really know what to expect. I saw some YT gurus use this and rave about it so I decided to get the travel size for Christmas just in case I didn't like it rather than buying the original size. I've used it pretty much every week day since I got it and am just now running out. A little goes a LONG way when using this primer. I apply it all over my face before my foundation and after I use my moisturizer. It's a kind of a white/clear color and it's not too thick but not too thin. I feel like it really does cover up my pores and gets my face ready for a full day's worth of makeup. I've noticed it also helps my foundation go on a lot easier rather than no primer at all. I'm not really sure if it's made my foundation last any longer but it does work for minimizing pores. It doesn't make me oily either, YAY! Although I really don't have any negative reviews for it, I probably wouldn't repurchase due to the fact that I would like to try another primer.
