  • Kate Somerville Quench Hydrating Serum

I've been using this as an occasional nighttime moisturizer for a few months now, and am very impressed. Perhaps not enough to purchase the full size (I've been using a .25 oz mini) but it's on my list should I feel flush and want to treat myself. It would be a lovely everyday moisturizer - heavy enough to really hydrate but lightweight at the same time. I love the texture -- it sinks into my skin immediately and is incredibly hydrating. For this reason, I have to use a fairly large amount to cover my entire face & neck, but my skin seems to drink it up. I realize it's marketed as a serum, but another moisturizer on top of it is unnecessary.

  • CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain

Let me start this review by saying I have never in my life bought a lipstain. For awhile, I didn't understand the bold lip look nor did I understand how to match shades to my skin tone. (read: I basically created my own aversion to lip color because I was beauty stupid.) However, I have recently come to "figure it out" when it comes to lip wear. I found this product at my local Big Lot's for a STEAL of a price. I've become better good judge of the products that come from Big Lots and this was one of the best I've seen! I paid $2 for this product, and for that price, I'd probably try other shades. I personally picked up the 415 shade, and according to Covergirl 415 is called "Teasing Blush." Online it looks more Lavender, but when applied, it showed up MUCH MUCH more red. Personally, I really like the color but I would have been disappointed if I had been looking for something with more blue/lavender hues. For the first ten minutes, the color was true to application without fading. Then, the next hour and half was all downhill. The stain faded quickly and after two hours the stain was nearly completely gone. I was not pleased with the longevity of the product at all! As far as packaging and application, I'm pretty happy. I applied this product like a lip liner in strokes, and filled in my lips after. I did notice myself using quite a bit of product to get the strong stain I was looking for. I didn't notice my lips to be dry at all, and almost seemed a little bit tacky for the first 15 or so minutes. I do like that it didn't dry me out, but I could have gone without the tack. I like the marker like application, and the applicator on my product was soft and ready to go. The product itself was scented sweetly and I really enjoyed it. I do like the packaging overall; the pen is thick enough to be comfortable but not too thick to be annoying. The packaging and application were probably the highlight of this product. Overall, I'd buy this product again under the same circumstances. I love the color, the package, and the scent. However, it wears quickly and lays tacky when layered. I WOULDN'T purchase at retail price.

  • Proactiv Clarifying Night Cream

    Proactiv Clarifying Night Cream

    on the pricey side

Overall, very good non irritating product. Smells fantastic, feels great, makes skin soooo smooth. My only downsides are it's not extremely moisturizing if you have dry skin. On normal or oily skin it's probably ok but if you're already dry, it's good in a way because it doesn't dry it out anymore but it also doesn't add too much moisture so you would probably need another cream. For dryer textures it's a great substitution for repairing lotion but a very expensive one. Also my other gripe is the amount you get for the price. Very little for a whole lot of $.

  • Prescriptives Virtual Skin Super-Natural Finish

I wanted a very lightweight foundation that was long wearing bc i went on a vacation w my husband recently to Jamaica and all my other ones even my bobbi brown skin foundation wasnt the type of coverage i wanted for such a hot climate and i knew we would be very active there so i needed something to feel like nothing on my face. Well, virtual skin is exactly what it says, your skin but better, however unlike bobbi brown skin foundation this one needs a concealer for any blemishes you might have bc it barely covers anything. I agree it doesnt withstand water but i brought along mac's face and body which served its purpose when i went to the beach or did anything that included water but this one wore really well for me with virtual matte pressed powder and mac blot when i was out and about during the day and night with my husband and believe me the weather was EXTREMELY hot. I applied it with a foundation brush and it looked nice. When i go away to really hot places, i want to look as youthful and fresh as possible and bc of the texture of the foundation, it gives you just that. I took a lippie away bc it's not alot of product in the bottle and i cant really use this all the time as i like fuller, more flawless coverage foundations for work and this doesn't do it but for a natural, lightweight look i will use this for that. I am going away to the bahamas w my husband and son in december so, this will be with me for sure. I will repurchase and i am going to get custom blended after work today, love it. Update- im raising this to five lippies bc i just need to layer it in certain areas to get the coverage i want. This foundation brand in general is great and i love how this foundation looks love and i was absolutely traumatized when the lady told me that prescriptives will be gone january 31, 2010, r u kidding me. anyway i guess i will have to order online after that as long as they have inventory. I will be stocking up on everything i love from this bc this is just ridiculous,

  • La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation SPF 15

Well, I am a totally obsessed finding the best foundation ever! I have tried so, so, so many foundations. And this I would say is my still number one! you actually need a one drop of it to cover all face using blending brush. It is simply phenomenal, and the coverage is perfect. Actually after this foundation first time I have hears someone was complimenting my skin as it looks poreless. Besides the concelear is also great to cover all dark areas and using it as highlighter. So WHY I put 4 and a half stars if it is so flawless? One ingredient I hate! Petrolatum! It is like hello, I pay 200 euros for petrolatum? but still I guess it somehow makes this great combo of flawless and coverage. I am do highly recommending it. I would say its pretty creamy one so expect your face shine a little, but this is just perfect healthy glow. It kind of has a mask effect so please use only one small drop on it and choose yellowish tone, it will always brighten up your skin. My favourite tones are Golden Beige//Sand Beige. and you can feel this nourishing effect on your skin. So far I have not find better one. As it is SOOO expensive I am planning to start using Make Up Forever HD foundation...however again, HD is just so full of bad chemicals...so I guess, La Prairie so fas has no alternatives. I have heard good references about Cle De Peau, so if someone has tries, please write a review too! I am still on a search of the best foundation. However this is guess will always remain in TOP 3 for sure! But please TAKE a sample of this foundation before you buy it, it is very expensive...and even lots of people love it, it doesnt work on all skin types!! It doesnt matter if your skin is dry or oily, its like or hate is based on your individual preferences! The another minus to this foundation it is air exposed. you actually have to open it and use a stick to get it out of the tube. Would be much better if it could have a pump! But still, I would suggest this foundation!

  • Jane Iredale PurePressed Base Mineral Foundation

BEST minerals out there. This is the best mineral foundation and it does not contain bismuth, which causes that crazy reflective quality (in a bad, bad way) that enlarges pores and causes breakouts! This is the only one I have found that doesn't have it. The color selection is awesome, but definitely go in for a match. It lasts forever too. I think it would easily last a year or more. The immediate output is a lot, but it ends up being super cost effective. I have combination skin- literally, dry, oily, & sensitive. I've found the products that work for me without drying me out and leave me balanced. I had to try a lot in order to get to the best routin. I have enlarged pores just below and on each side of my nose, between my cheeks and my nose. I have found most minerals don't work for me because of the enlarged pores, although I have wanted to use them because they are so natural. I have tried them all, this one is the *best*. The finish is outstanding. I first apply my vitamin C, then my hyalyronic acid (although this is sticky and would probably go on even better w/o this), then I apply my neutrogena healthy skin, then my elta spf 46 for sensitive/acne prone skin (note that I do not have acne, just super sensitive skin and I don't have acne because I really make sure the products I use do not cause acne, otherwise I would end up with a blemish, not a lot, but I would have 1 or 2 always going if I didn't take good care of my skin. After I let that all settle a bit, I spritz some water onto my face (whatever brand you like is fine) then, I apply using my real techniques stippling brush. This is the BEST applicator for this product. While this is not my HG, it is what I use because it's the closest mineral product I've found.

  • Avon PERFECT WEAR Extralasting Liquid Foundation SPF 15

I really like this stuff. It matches my neutral skin tone perfectly, which is difficult to find in a lot of inexpensive foundations. Most of the time, they are too pink or too yellow. But this was perfect. It also covers up my red spots without the help of a concealer. It also looks so natural on my skin. You can't even tell I'm wearing it. A customer even told me I had beautiful skin! I've never been told that before. :) Now, onto the claims. It claims that it is sweat proof, humidity proof and transfer proof for up to 12 hours. It did not last for 12 hours, which isn't really a big deal to me because I am rarely out and away from a mirror for 12 hours. However, I do work in a fast food restaurant. And, of course, fast food = french fries, and french fries don't make themselves. I have to work the fry machine and all of the heat and grease from it attacks me and leaves my face greasy. I'm getting a bit off topic here. Long story short, I was really looking for a foundation that left my face non-greasy for at least 6 hours. This was soooo close to making it. Whenever I looked in the mirror after two hours of working, it looked amazing still. Two more hours later, I could see the grease spots coming, so I blotted my face with tissue paper. I look on the tissue paper, and there is a huge smudge of foundation on it! I look on my face, and you can see the redness of my face. Definitely not transfer proof, but you know... the frymaster is out to kill :P. So, I did need to touch up at work, which was expected because all of the long-lasting drugstore foundations gave me the same results, but I did not like them nearly as much as I like this one. On a regular, non-working day, it is beautiful. I have no complaints. I don't have to touch up at all, unless I have a really bad blemish on my cheek or something, but I just cover it up with concealer. Overall, I am impressed with this and I am definitely going to repurchase. But maybe I'll buy a new finishing powder...

  • Philosophy The Supernatural Airbrushed Canvas SPF 15

great product.... but no coverage at all. the container is the thing that caught my eye... its just so cute and sleek. i have come to realize that this powder is a good mattifier... i took one lippie off because i was looking for coverage but ended up buying an amazing mattifier... which is a plus, but not what i was looking for ****PROS***** •great shine control •blends everything together •doesnt clog pores!!!! •allergy tested •no parabens ****CONS***** •not alot of coverage..if any •feels chalky i would not buy this product again because im sure this product will last me a long time.... and i want a higher coverage... i would recomend this to a person who is looking for a good matte loose powder.... *TIP* i reccomend that you do not use the sponge applicator.. instead use a basic powder brush, stippling brush, or kabuki brush... i hope this has helped you in some way

    CosMedix Clarity Serum

    Clarity Acne Serum

I absolutely love this product. I have bought it about 3 times so far and thats totally not like me. I am a product junkie and I am always trying new things because I could never find the thing that worked perfectly. I have found it! I love the Cosmedix line. Take it from me, they work. I have tried everything under the sun to clear my skin and make it smooth and pretty without makeup. I prefer to only use natural and/or organic products and this line does fall under that category. They use many natural ingredients but mix it with other things that work. Also, you can pronounce all of the ingredients and there aren't a million of them! I don't buy things that have tons of weird things in them that I have never heard of or that frankly, sound dangerous. Anyways... I use the purity cleanser, then this clarity serum and follow with the phytoclear moisturizer. BEST ROUTINE EVER. everyone I know has been commenting on my skin saying it looks so great! (thats odd for me because I have always had terrible skin). Plus, I hate wearing makeup so now I can feel good about not wearing makeup on my skin. This stuff takes off your old skin, clears acne with tea tree and witch hazle and and just work wonders. I just can't say enough good things about those three products. They have worked wonders. Not only have they cleared up my skin amazingly, but they have taken off layers of blotchy, scared skin. Its just amazing. They are expensive but so so soooooo worth it. One place you can find them besides online is at Milk and Honey Spas.

  • Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush

I'm a bit of a blush hoarder, but I keep coming back to this one. If you adore red lipstick, this is a perfect blush to pair with it in my opinion. Reading other people's reviews, I surprised to hear that some didn't find this to be very pigmented. On my light-medium skin tone, I have absolutely no problem building up color and it is easy to overdo it, especially if I don't use a duo-fiber brush to apply it. I've used this more than any other blush for the past two years and somehow I still haven't hit pan. Rose is a gorgeous pink shade with very fine shimmer that never looks too frosty. I'm instead left with a healthy, long lasting flush. The packaging is a bit bulky, but the heart design is adorable. The product is floral scented, but I don't find it overpowering or offensive (and I usually hate floral scents). For me, this unexpected drugstore gem doesn't get enough lip service and is a must have in my collection. Ugh, I hate that I feel I have to first get the disclaimer out of the way that OBVIOUSLY this is just a blush, and isn't literally going to improve your mood. It's blush. I was almost too embarrassed to buy something using such a dumb marketing gimmick, but it was on sale and the colour was pretty. The brush included is terrible and takes up way too much space in the packaging. This brush is slightly less terrible than the others I've gotten with other PF powders (maybe they're improving as they add new products?), so I could conceivably use it if I took this travelling and lost/couldn't bring a good brush. But I would never choose to use it. The shade "Rose" is very pretty -- very pigmented, which includes the little areas of darker & brighter shades, so the end result is brighter and deeper than I would have thought from looking at this product in the store. But a very small amount results in a pretty pink glow, slightly shimmery but not glittery. Because it's so pigmented, it's very buildable, so would probably be okay for medium skintones as well as fair.
