Lancome Dual Finish Versatile Powder Makeup

    A Not-Quite-So Versatile Powder Makeup

This is a very nice powder. It works with almost every foundation. I used is wet once several years ago but it was left with cracks and was never the same again. It's too expensive for this to happen. My recommendation is that it only be used dry. Another drawback is that it can make a hydrating foundation look muddy. To prevent this, I set my foundation with a small amount of Lancome's Photogenic loose translucent powder (although a less-expensive brand would be okay) and then dust on a little Dual Finish powder on top of that. Lovely finish that lasts for hours!

Maybelline New York Moisture Extreme Lipcolor

    A High-Quality Low-Priced Lip Color Line

I love red lipstick, but it has to have a yellow base. Reds with a blue base look violet on me, which I don't like. My current favorite red is Maybelline's "Dessert Sunset" (F205). It's a red with a yellow base that is neither too deep, too bright, nor brown-looking. It feels nice, too. My only problem is that I think maybe "Dessert Sunset" has been discontinued because lately I haven't been able to find it anywhere. It is so much nicer on me than other lipsticks costing three times as much. With any luck, Maybelline will bring it back with a new name and maybe new packaging. As long as it's the same product, I'll be happy.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer Light

    This Works Under Any Makeup

I love this primer! I tend to change moisturizers and foundations every so often. During the past few years I have used this primer over a number of different moisturizers and under different foundations, and have found it to work very well every time. This primer keeps its promises! It's expensive, though. Not being a prestige-line snob, I have tired other far less expensive primers and, unfortunately, none of them has worked like this one. It's well worth the Smashbox price tag.

  • Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Sheerest Cream Blush

Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Sheerest Cream Blush

Pretty Shades and Easy to Use

I've always used powder blushers because I could never find a cream blush that was light weight enough to apply over a foundation and a setting powder without dragging them. This sheer cream blush is light weight and can be dabbed easily and evenly over foundation before applying powder, OR over a shaded or translucent powder, without dragging. I am currently using "Beaming", although I like most of the other shades as well. It lasts all day, isn't overly radiant, and won't break the bank.

  • Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion

You've got to give Clinique its props for having been a front-runner years ago in the pure ingredients department. While Clinique offers pure, high-quality products, other manufacturers have long since jumped on the band wagon by offering similar products with similar ingredients at far more affordable prices. Dramatically Different is a very good, all-around general-appeal moisturizer, and were it not for the high price, I would give it a better rating. Clinique keeps coming up with imaginative products, but they no longer corner the market on purity and quality.

    NYX Cosmetics Jumbo Lip Pencil

NYX Jumbo Lip AND Eye Pencils

I love the entire NYX line of cosmetics! The lip and eye pencils come in beautiful colors and feel very creamy and comfortable. I actually sharpen the eye pencils as much as possible to use them as easy-to-apply eye liners, as opposed to shadows. Check out all the NYX products at an ULTA store. You can't beat this line for a wide variety of pretty shades for very little money.

  • Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser

    Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser

    An All-Around Great Facial Cleanser

When I asked my dermatologist to recommend a high-quality low-priced skin care regimen, he told me without hesitation that He confirmed my suspicion that high-priced, beautifully-packaged department store skin care products don't necessarily deliver better results than drug store items, and that's particularly true of the Aveeno Positively Radiant line. Give this affordable available cleanser a try!

  • Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner

I enjoy using this toner very much. I like the fact that it's alcohol free and still removes any trace of residue. Higher priced toners with all their purified ingredients can't do a better job than this toner.

  • LORAC Breakthrough Performance Foundation

If this foundation had lived up to its claims I would not have returned it. Not only did I have some difficulty finding a shade I liked, it didn't cover or blend well and felt uncomfortable on my skin. I may have been slightly allergic to one of the many components in this makeup. Far less expensive drugstore foundations perform far better than this one. I don't see myself trying it again.

  • Elizabeth Arden Intervene Makeup Broad Spectrum Suncreen SPF 15

My skin type is normal-to-dry, so Elizabeth Arden's Intervene Makeup is perfect for me during warm weather months because it wears well despite facial perspiration. The beautiful array of shades and the fact that it lasts a very long time make it well worth the price. It is blendable and looks great with or without a shaded or translucent powder. Not for very dry skin or skin that tends to be very dry in cold weather.
