  • NYX Cosmetics NYX Eyebrow Marker

This marker is amazing! It works just as good as MAC’s penultimate brow marker, but it come’s in different shades. If you have very dark hair, I would recommend this is in the darkest color. But if you have lighter hair color, I would suggest the lightest color available. One bad thing I could say about this product is that it can look unnatural if you do not apply it correctly. Do not just simply fill in the eyebrows with this is pen. I would highly recommend only using this pen in areas where there is almost no hair there at all, such as the arch to the end of the brow and maybe to line under the brow to give a crisp and clean look. Basically, avoid the beginning and top area of the eyebrow and a light hand. Remember, we’re supposed to do small strokes in the natural direction of hair growth to mimic the way eyebrow hair is supposed to look. Instead of using the pen, use a gel or lighter pen to fill and then use an eyebrow spool to blend it all together. They staying power of this pen is fantastic! Once it is dried it will not come off with typical day to day activities. It will, however, come off with excess sweat and water, so maybe use another product if going hiking or going to the beach. Otherwise, great affordable everyday product to include in the makeup routine. I have also noticed that when I want a natural, light makeup day, that I can get away with just filling in my eyebrows, a quick sweep of eye shadow and mineral makeup, and some mascara. This brow pen is available online, and their other makeup products are very good and great dupes to MAC. <3

  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
    5.0

    Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

    Old formula was better

Me and my sister used to love urban decay’s eyelid primer, but the company changed the formula and it has a different look than it used to. We used to love how it made eyeshadow colors appear more bold and intense. The new formula doesn’t do that. We were so disappointed. We looked at many other expensive brands. Nothing gave us that bold and intense eyeshadow look and allowed our shadows to blend. I am so disappointed that they changed the formula. The tube is much easier to use, but the previous formula was much much better. This formula doesn’t give eyeshadows a dramatic and intense color like the older primer did. It only slightly gives a more pigmented look, and this formula does not make the shadow last longer. I would rather use a certain $1 primer, which is more similar to the older formula. If you’re skeptical, I would put different eye primers on your hand at a makeup store where they allow you to test out different makeup like sephora or ulta. Wait a few minutes, and apply the same color eyeshadow to all the primers on your hand and try to rub it off. Whichever stays wins the game. I did this, and the new urban decay eye primer formula did not win. One good thing I can say about this primer is that it does allow the shadow to blend together well, and it is the best primer for urban decay eye shadows. If you are not using urban decay eye shadows, I suggest trying a cheaper primer. It is not much different than this primer. No one is going to go that close to your eye and think “Ohhh I think her eyeshadow is sliiiiiightly more blended and intense than usual” Not worth the extra money.

    E.L.F. Essentials Eyelid Primer

    Great Expensive Eye Primer DUPE!

I have always knows ELF to have amazing products for very cheap, so I decided to try out the primer. I went home and prepared myself to be disappointed. Why would a dollar product be better than a $25 product? (Because ELF is AMAZING!) I put it on my eyelids, let it set for about 2 minutes. Then I applied the eye shadow. This is the product that I had been search everywhere for. It worked just as good as the urban decay eye lid primer. I was so happy, but then I started to feel bad that I used to spend so much for Urban decay’s eye primer when I could have been getting it for a dollar. From now on, I always buy ELF eye primer. I also try to try as many of their other makeup products as possible, and I’m never disappointed. If you are on the fence about trying out one of their products, just do it! It is so affordable. So, even if you don’t like the product, (YOU WILL LOVE IT!) you will only be out $1-$3. I have also seen on pinterest that this is a great dupe for an expensive eye primer. It can be used under the eye to prime the lower lids for those that use foundation and or powder to conceal dark circles to avoid giving lower lids the crepe look. The only negative thing I would say is that it does dry out the skin a bit, so if you have sensitive or dry lids, I would not recommend this product to you.

  • Pur Minerals Pressed Mineral Blush

I love the Pur minerals face makeup / foundation, but the blush is horrible. very splotchy and makes it look like your skin is scaly.

  • Kinerase HydraBoost Intensive Treatment

This is one of my most favorite products. I don’t usually spend a lot of beauty products, but this product is definitely a must! I get a lot of dry skin around the eyes, and I tried a lot of creams to sooth the eye skin, but it would just end up burning the skin around it and making it more inflamed and dry. Vaseline worked well, but it was so greasy, and I couldn’t wear it with my eyeglasses because it would get all over the lenses. I first found this product at sephora, and I bought it for around $75. I fell in love. I had never felt my face feel as soft before, not to mention, my dry eye lids felt relief. I could wear eye shadow without it looking flaky. I could wear eyeliner without feeling the burn. Later, my acne on my face started to get worse, so I started using retin-A. For those that use it, you know how drying that can be to your skin. After I use retin-A, I put the hydraboost on my skin and my skin just soaks it up. I apply my favorite moisturizer after, and my skin will be completely hydrated until my next facial wash. I have tried products that are similar and about $10 cheaper, but it does not keep my skin hydrated. The moisture will evaporate, and I will feel the need to apply more product. Hydraboost by Kinerase was the only product that has given my skin relief from dryness. About a year ago, Sepora stopped carrying it, so I would go to Nordstrom. 6 months later, Nordstrom stopped selling it. Now I have to make a special trip to Ulta to get my favorite moisturizer. It is definitely worth it though!

  • Pur Minerals Purfect Starter Kit

    Pur Minerals Purfect Starter Kit

    Best Mineral Makeup Product

I like mineral makeup because I break out often. After I started using this product, I noticed a huge difference in my face clearing up. I break out less often and it doesn't give a weird finish that other mineral makeups can. I am Asian Indian, so it is very hard to find the “right” color makeup for my skin. This product also will work for a wide range of other ethnicities, because the coverage is not too heavy. It can be built up to give more coverage, or it can be used as a sheer everyday cover up. I also like this product because it doesn’t come off at the end of the day, like other mineral makeups can. I bought the starter kit, which includes bronzer, primer, a the mineral makeup brush. The mineral makeup brush that it came with is amazing! It gives an airbrushed look and I even use it with other powders to give my skin a flawless finish. If you want a more heavy coverage, I would highly recommend using the primer from pur. I use it all over my eyelid, and face, and it works beautifully with the mineral makeup to make it last longer. The only bad thing that I can say about this product is that sometimes a film can produce on the makeup which will not allow the product to be absorbed by the brush. What I do to fix this, is to scratch the film off, which allows it to turn to powder again, and then I use the excess makeup on my skin. Once the film is gone, the brush will be able to absorb the product. However, the film will produce again. I’m not sure what allows the mineral to become so hard that no product will come out, but this makeup product truly is amazing.

  • Maybelline New York Superstay 24hr Color
    9.0

Maybelline New York Superstay 24hr Color

Amazing when used correctly - Instructions included

This is how I use this product, and it works wonderfully: 1. I exfoliate my lips with my toothbrush to remove any flaky skin. 2. I immediately apply vaseline to my lips to moisturize. 3. After a half hour, I wipe my lips of any remaining vaseline. Must have a dry clean slate, but not dry lip skin where it is flaky. 4. I apply the lip color by dabbing a little bit starting on the bottom lip. Blend before it dries. 5. I do the same on top, by carefully making sure to stay in the lip line. 6. Wait for the product to completely dry. 7. Apply the lip shine. Do not let you lips dry out. Carry the lip shine with you and moisturize as needed. If you skip this part, you lips will get dried out and your lip color will come off. Another thing, is to make sure to wash your fingers immediately after applying the product. It will be very difficult to take off once it has dried. I have also had the experience of putting a lip color on and not liking it, and taking it off was a huge hassle. What I have done now, is to have a separate toothbrush just for exfoliating my lips, taking off the lip color, and taking the lip color off of my fingers. I love all the extended lip colors because I can eat, wipe my face, and not have to worry about the lip color going all over my face, teeth, food, and glass. Not to mention, that I will still have my lip color on after all of it. I have noticed that I have to go to the restroom less often to touch up my make up because I have such an amazing product like this one.

  • E.L.F. Studio Powder Brush

This brush gives your makeup a very flawless airbrush looking application. Although the label identifies it as being a liquid foundation brush, I like to use it with mineral makeup and with my powder blushes. It is so affordable. I wash my brushes, every couple of days and then I just keep buying this brush again and again. That is the best way to be hygienic. Just one thing, when I wash the brush, some color from the bristles does come off. Also, I’ve noticed that some of the brushes are poorly made and the bristles come out and sometimes come out when applying foundation to the face. This brush can also be used wet to apply a more sheer foundation. Using regular foundation with this brush is most recommended, and it gives the skin a very flawless and buffed appearance. This brush is just as good as any other foundation brush out there, it is just more affordable.

  • Maybelline New York Fit Me! Concealer

I follow a lot of makeup artists on Instagram, and noticed that many of them use this concealer for under their eyes. These professionals use many expensive and high end products, so when I saw that they used a $5 concealer, I had to try it. I have a medium-dark skin tone and the "fairest" and the "sand" both work well. I use the fairest concealer as a highlighter. It blends well, and doesn't crease. Just set with translucent powder.
