    E.L.F. Essentials Natural Lash Kit

The glue isn't good, but the lashes are!

These are inexpensive, but still look great on. Perfect for gals who are just learning to apply falsies. The glue that's included in this kit isn't very good (but that seems to be the case with most glues). Buy a little tube of DUO Lash Adhesive and you're ready to go. I will definitely repurchase these!

  • E.L.F. Brightening Eye Color

    E.L.F. Brightening Eye Color

Better than you'd expect for $1

PROS: Better quality than you'd expect for $1, as good as or better than many drugstore brands. Decent pigmentation. Decent wear when used with eye primer. Smooth texture. CONS: shadow size is really small, triangle shaped pans are a little awkward. Plastic compact looks and feels cheap. Not really "eye brightening"--just shimmery. Shadow can be a bit crumbly and can create fallout. Good for gals who want to try new colors without breaking the bank, or those just getting into makeup.

  • ManGlaze Hot Mess ManGlaze BLING MATTE TOP COAT

It's amazing. This is technically a matte glitter topcoat, but it can also be worn as a polish. Two coats of this will give you fantastic, disco-ball nails. The glitter is just the right size, and there's TONS of it. It is nice and matte also. The most amazing thing is how quickly this polish dries--it's SUPER fast drying. And it stays on my nails for a really long time without chipping. I love the packaging, with the nicely sized brush and cool label. The only con is that it's a bit expensive... $13.13 a bottle. However, I'd say it's totally worth it. I will definitely repurchase this over and over!

    Prestige Lash Matrix Waterproof Mascara

    Will not repurchase this.

I LOVE Prestige My Biggest Lashes mascara, and Prestige My Blackest Lashes mascara, and assumed that Lash Matrix Waterproof would be just as awesome, but with the added bonus of being waterproof. No, it's not. Not at all. PROS: SImple packaging, nice brush, pigmented formula. Decently waterproof. Decent price. CONS: Irritating to my eyes. Formula is REALLY clumpy, even the day after I opened a new tube! Ridiculous. I'll stick with the other formulas from Prestige.

  • ManGlaze Matte-Astrophe ManGlaze CLEAR MATTE TOP COAT (got crackle?)

PROS: Cool packaging. Does make nails matte. Dries relatively quickly CONS: No matter how thick or thin of a coat I apply, or over what base polish (I've tried OPI, China Glaze, etc), it only cracks in one place, right down the center of my nail! Expensive.

  • Prestige My Biggest Lashes Big Lash Effect Mascara

PROS: Rich, black, highly pigmented mascara. Gives lashes a nice amount of volume and decent length. Love the large brush. Doesn't clump. Simple packaging. Really inexpensive (and frequently on sale BOGO 50% off) CONS: There aren't any I can think of... this mascara is probably my absolute favorite. It's definitely comparable to Benefit's BadGal mascara.

  • Prestige My Blackest Lashes Intense Black Volume Mascara

PROS: Rich, black pigmented mascara. Nice amount of volume. Love the large brush. Doesn't clump. Simple packaging. Really inexpensive (and frequently on sale BOGO 50% off) CONS: Could add a little more length to lashes. Seriously, I love this mascara.

    Tarte emphasEYES

Maybe if it were half the price and had better staying power

PROS: Feels nice and cooling on your eyes, which is a little strange at first. The color (I have it in Bronze) is beautiful, and nicely pigmented. No need to sharpen, which is a plus. CONS: Very expensive, especially for the amount of product. It is very very soft--too soft, which causes the tip to break off frequently. Decent length of wear--it claims to be "long-wearing," and generally it looked great all day, but a few times it wore off quickly. I don't think I'd repurchase this, mostly because of the price.

  • Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat

    Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat

Not as good as China Glaze.

I've tried two brands of crackle polish, China Glaze (in Cracked Concrete [grey creme] and Heartbreaker [pink creme]), and Sally Hansen (in Snow Blast [white creme], Distressed Denim [blue creme] and Ink Splatter [black creme]). Sally Hansen's polishes are so so: Snow Blast is moderately pigmented, Ink Splatter is decently pigmented, but Distressed Denim is a transparent blue. The texture is a little runny on all of them. The price is okay--$6.99 is a bit spendy for a drugstore polish, especially given the mediocre quality, but at least it goes on sale sometimes. The length of wear on these is just alright. I was very disappointed by the performance of these polishes. Crackle polishes are not created equally--I'm sticking w/China Glaze! ***Notes about crackle polish in general: It's easy to apply, and you can vary the size of the crackle by varying the thickness of the crackle coat--a thicker coat means fewer but bigger cracks, a thinner coat means many but very small cracks. Definitely make sure your base coat layer is COMPLETELY dry before applying the crackle top coat. This means the whole mani takes a bit longer than average, but not too bad. The greater the contrast between the base coat and the crackle coat, the better it looks. Also, crackle polish might not be okay for some office places. But fun for the weekend! It might not be a good product for gals who want their mani to be absolutely perfect, because the crackle is a little unpredictable, and it adds thickness/texture to the nail. Lastly, by changing the direction of the brush stroke, you can kind of change the direction of the crackle.

    China Glaze Crackle

    LOVE China Glaze Crackle!

I saw magazine ads for crackle polish, and knew I had to at least TRY this trend. :P I received two bottles to review for weheartthis .com--Cracked Concrete (grey creme) and Heartbreaker (pink creme). Both colors are opaque and pigmented. The texture is nice, although a little thick. The price is okay. I love the color options too. Decent/above average length of wear. I lent my bottle to a friend, who gave herself a pedi that withstood paint and scrubbing for two weeks! I tried Sally Hansen crackle and it was nowhere near as good. China Glaze Crackle polish is fabulous! ***Notes about crackle polish in general: It's easy to apply, and you can vary the size of the crackle by varying the thickness of the crackle coat--a thicker coat means fewer but bigger cracks, a thinner coat means many but very small cracks.
