Frederic Fekkai MORE Scalp Purifying Shampoo

    Excellent for thinning hair

I bought this with the whole set of MORE products: shampoo, conditioner, mousse, and nighttime scalp revitalizer. I tried the MORE set after the Nioxin set (Cleanser, Scalp Treatment, Root Treatment). The Nioxin was fine but I wasn't "wowed" by it. I was losing hair (about 15-20%) after having 2 surgeries (1st in Jan and the 2nd in March) and the loss was probably due to the 2 anasthesias within a few months. I am happy with the MORE Frederic Fekkai shampoo and conditioner b/c it's more effective than Nioxin in that my hair seems fuller and with more bounce (although it is not a volume enhancing shampoo). However I thought the mousse & scalp revitalizer to be a WASTE. My scalp felt sticky with the styling whip. The saleswoman at Sephora told me that I had to use the whole system together or it was a waste (sales pitch) but after using just the shampoo and conditioner (just on the scalp), I'm happy with the results. I have fine (but lots of it, long (few inches past the shoulder) black silky hair (I'm Korean). Slightly oily scalp with dry ends and I also use these hair brands: Keratase, Joico, Alterna Hemp, Redken.

  • Kerastase Reflection Chroma Protect Polishing Cream

Kerastase Reflection Chroma Protect Polishing Cream

I never seen my hair shinier before this product

I love this Protective Leave-in Polishing Cream. I swore I'd never buy a Keratase product after buying a conditioner for $30 that was extremely over priced for average results a few years back. 6 months ago, I had my black hair (I'm Korean) colored to cover the greys and my Vidal Sassoon hairdresser used the Chroma Protect leave in conditioner/shine enhancer on my hair. When he was done, I cursed b/c my hair was silkier & shiner than ever, and I knew I had no choice but to plunge in and buy this Shine Reflecting line. The Shine Enhancer feels light, smells nice and goes easily through the hair. I do love and highly recommend the Leave In Shine Enhancer as well as the excellent shampoos: Bain Miroir Shampoo 1 (for sensitized hair) and Shampoo 2(very conditioning & pampering). I would not repurchase the Chroma Reflect Rinse Out Conditioner. I have fine, long, black silky hair. Slightly oily scalp with dry ends. I also use these products: Joico, Alterna Hemp along with the Keratase.

  • JOICO K-PAK Deep-Penetrating Reconstructor

This product is a classic and for good reason. I first tried this product when I was 16 (I'm 42 now). I'm Korean, have fine (but lots of it) long (few inches past the shoulder) black silky hair. Slightly oily scalp with dry ends. I especially appreciated this product after a recent dye job (no ammonia or peroxide was used). I bought the whole Keratase Chroma Shine line (shampoo, conditioner, leave in). I love this Keratase Chroma Shine line and highly recommend it to anyone (it's really worth the price) except for the rinse out conditioner (not so impressive). I found a packet of K-pak Reconstructor (probably haven't used K-Pak in 5 years) and used it. After, my hair practically looked new and the shine impressed even me (I thought the Joico K-Pak far surpassed the Keratase Chroma Shine conditioner). I'm sold. And I promptly bought a big tube the next day. I use these products: Keratase, Joico, Alterna Hemp, Redken.

  • Kerastase Bain Miroir

    Kerastase Bain Miroir

Review for Bain Miroir Shampoo 1 (sensitized) and 2 (highly sensitized hair)

I am reviewing the Bain Miroir 1 and Bain Miroir 2 Shampoo. I swore I'd never buy a Keratase product after buying a Keratase conditioner for $30 that was extremely over priced for average results a few years back. 6 months ago, I had a hair cut (a few weeks after having my black hair colored to cover the greys) and my Vidal Sassoon hairdresser used the Chroma Protect leave in conditioner/shine enhancer. He was careful to show me my hair condition in the big mirror before the haircut and after to compare. When he was done, I oohed and cursed at the same time b/c my hair was silkier & shiner than ever, and I knew I had no choice but to splurge and buy this Shine Reflecting line. Bain Miroir Shampoo 1 is super concentrated (you need very little), smells nice, looks cool in the bathroom and my friends tell me how thick my hair is after using this (impressive considering my hair is fine). After using this, my hair is very full but lustrous, tangle free, conditioned. After using this for 6 months, I wonder if my hair is getting a little dry from the shampoo so I just ordered Bain Miroir 2. The Chroma Reflect conditioner is ok but I don't know if it's good enough to repurchase. Frankly I used the Joico K-Pak Reconstructor and I thought the results blew away the Keratase conditioner. I do love and highly recommend the Keratase Leave In Shine Enhancer as well as the shampoo! Update: I just received and tried the Bain Miroir 2. This shampoo is super conditioning and leaves your hair amazingly soft, shiny and pampered (more than any shampoo I've ever tried) w/o any heaviness or greasiness. My hair doesn't have the volume that Bain Miroir 1 gives me but my hair is not flat and still looks nice with body (just not as full as the Bain Miroir 1). I will alternate both of the shampoos as I love how pampered my hair is after using the 2 (you don't need conditioner except on the ends with this shampoo). I could imagine women with thicker hair or dryer hair transforming their hair with the Bain Miroir 2 (yes, it's that good). I have fine (but lots of it) long (few inches past the shoulder) black silky hair (I'm Korean). Slightly oily scalp with dry ends. I also use these products: Joico, Alterna Hemp along with the Keratase.

Frederic Fekkai MORE All-Day Density Styling Whip

Not a necessary part of the More Set

I bought this with the whole set of MORE products: shampoo, conditioner, mousse, and nighttime scalp revitalizer. I tried the MORE set after the Nioxin set (Cleanser, Scalp Treatment, Root Treatment). The Nioxin was fine but I wasn't "wowed" by it. I was losing hair (about 15-20%) after having 2 surgeries (1st in Jan and the 2nd in March) and the loss was probably due to closeness of the anasthesias. I am happy with the MORE Frederic Fekkai shampoo and conditioner b/c it's more effective than Nioxin in that my hair seems fuller and with more bounce (although it is not a volume enhancing shampoo). However for my hair, I thought the mousse & scalp revitalizer to be a WASTE. My scalp felt sticky with the styling whip. The saleswoman at Sephora told me that I had to use the whole system together or it was a waste (sales pitch) but after using just the shampoo and conditioner (just on the scalp), I'm happy with the results. I do not recommend the MORE styling whip (esp. at the exorbitant price). I have fine (but lots of it) long black silky hair. Slightly oily scalp with dry ends. I am Korean, 42 yrs old and usually use these hair brands: Keratase, Joico, Alterna Hemp, Redken.

  • MD Forte Skin Rejuvenation Lotion III
    10.0

MD Forte Skin Rejuvenation Lotion III

    Fantastic effective product

I love this product. I love that it multi-tasks Retin-A with acid, vitamins, etc. It comes in a hypo-allergenic pump, feels pretty light (I hate smothering sticky lotions/creams) and I wake up with brighter, firmer, softer skin. For such an effective serum, I never suffer from irritations (I also use the III Cleanser, which I love but I cannot use the cleanser when it's a cold windy day in NYC) but this serum, I can use anytime. I have tried other "multi-tasking" serums/creams from Bliss, Philosophy, DDF and I saw no results compared to this serum. My facialist (she used to assist plastic surgeons and is well versed with lasers but gives amazing basic facials as well) is very impressed with this serum. For the other reviewers who had adverse results, every skin type is so different and finicky with products so it's a trial and error process. I would recommend this to anyone (unless they have problems with acid). I am Korean, have combination skin (prone to plugged pores & occasional breakouts), 42 yrs old but most think I'm 28-32. People say my skin is like porcelain but it has good and bad days like everyone else. I use: Natura Bisse, Jurlique, MD Forte, Clarins, and DHC.

  • MD Forte Hand & Body Cream

MD Forte Hand & Body Cream

Effective but not a pleasure to use

I am a big fan of MD Forte Products (love the Cleanser III and Rejuvenation Lotion III) which is why I bought their Hand & Body Lotion. I like that this has high glycolic acid levels but it also has mineral oil (which I hate) and this cream doesn't feel good going on nor does it have a pleasant scent (it doesn't smell bad either). It is an effective hand lotion (b/c of the acid level) but it's just NOT a pleasure to use. I can't wait to use it all and get rid of it. I will probably try the MD Formulations Pedi Cream next (their Pedi Cream works well on hands as well). My favorite day hand cream is Ahava Mineral Hand Cream (but it doesn't have the acid to de-age the hands :-). I am Korean, 42 yrs old, have combination facial skin but my hands are VERY dry. I use: Natura Bisse, Jurlique, MD Forte, Clarins, DHC.

  • MD Forte Facial Cleanser III
    10.0

    MD Forte Facial Cleanser III

Fantastic Cleanser (if your skin can tolerate)

This product is fantastic. I switched to the III after using the II (didn't feel the II was strong enough for me). My skin looks brighter, fresher. My facialist even marveled ("your skin looks gorgeous, small pores") at how my skin looked after using this (she used to assist plastic surgeons and is well versed with lasers but gives amazing basic facials as well). Only negative is that when it's a windy, cold day (I live in NYC), my skin does not tolerate this III well and stings when I put it on. I just alternate my other cleansers (beloved Clarins foaming or my DHC Deep Cleansing Oil) around the MD Forte. I am Korean, have combination skin (prone to plugged pores & occasional breakouts), 42 yrs old but most think I'm 28-32. People say my skin is like porcelain but it has good and bad days like everyone else. I regularly use: Natura Bisse, Jurlique, MD Forte, Clarins, DHC.
