  • Burt's Bees Super Shiny Grapefruit & Sugar Beet Shampoo

My hair is what I would call "combination": The roots can get really oily, but the ends can get really dry. Most days, I shampoo my roots and condition my ends and leave it at that. However, some days I feel as though my roots need some extra clarifying treatment. Burt's Bees Super Shiny Grapefruit & Sugar Beet Shampoo is one shampoo I tried for my oily roots. I feel like this shampoo more than clarified my hair, it made it extra dry! If you have really, really oily hair, this might be a good product for you, but I found it to be really drying.

  • Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm

    Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm

    More Waxy Than Moisturizing

I really want to like Burt's Bees products: I like their packaging, I'm in Whole Foods all the time, so it would be convenient to pick up, and a lot of my friends absolutely love their products. Unfortunately, I just haven't had luck with them. I have super-dry lips, so I'm always looking for moisturizing products. I tried out Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm hoping that the beeswax would hope seal in some moisture, but really I found it to just be waxy and heavy. It never seemed to absorb, and my lips just felt waxy, not moisturized.

    Bonne Bell Lip Smacker

I Admit It: I Love Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers!

Okay, okay. I'm not thirteen anymore. But I have loved Bonne Bell Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers since I really was thirteen (I'm 27 now). This lip gloss is ALWAYS with me. I have three right now: one on my desk, one in my purse, and one in the medicine cabinet. Because what if I lost one??? After years of trying out all kinds of makeup and all kinds of lip gloss, I always come back to my Dr. Pepper. It gives exactly the right "my lip color but better" look during the day, it has just a little bit of shine, it's moisturizing, and I think it tastes good! And it's great to wear over a more-drying lip stain at night. This is my perfect product. I think I'll put some on right now!

    Benefit Boi-ing

    A Little Too Much Coverage

I have dark undereye circles, and I tried Benefit's Boi-ing concealer in the hopes that it would help me conceal them. Unfortunately, the texture is not creamy enough to make blending easy, and the range of colors isn't broad enough - the "Light" color is too dark for me. It definitely covered my undereye circles, but left me with a cake-y looking undereye area in an unnatural color. Yuck!

  • Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow

    Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow

    Sophisticated and Versatile Eye Shadows

I have Bobbi Brown's Eye Shadow in Bone, Sable and Rich Brown (three colors that I originally bought in a "neutral" palette and have since repurchased) and I love them. The texture of the eye shadow is really smooth and blends extremely well. I like to have a natural, "no makeup" look during the day and then a smoky eye at night, and these are great for both. I use Bone to highlight my brow bone, Sable for a light, polished look during the day (and sometimes as a brow powder), and Rich Brown to line my top lash line during the day or for a smokier look at night. It's very easy to control the amount of color you get out of these shadow, so you can do a very natural look or something more dramatic. And they last forever!

  • Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Loose Powder

Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Loose Powder

    The Only Powder I Need

After reading Bobbi Brown's Beauty Evolution book (which, by the way, I recommend), I decided to give my "no-powder" stance a rest and try her loose powder in pale yellow. I'm glad I did! Although I don't wear powder over my whole face as my skin is very dry, I use Bobbi Brown's loose powder to set any areas that need a little extra polish. I often use it on top of undereye concealer, and if I have a blemish, I use it to set concealer on top. It's very light, and I find that the pale yellow looks more natural on my skin than a translucent powder, especially under my eyes. This is a favorite!

  • Benefit Benetint
    8.0

    Benefit Benetint

Pretty (and a Little Messy) in Pink

In college, this was my absolute favorite cheek stain. It can be difficult to blend, and I have often spilled the bottle, but once you get past the sometimes awkward application, it gives a very pretty pink "blushing" glow. I would apply it before my foundation or tinted moisturizer to give the impression of a "glow from within". I also used Benetint as a lip stain, and occasionally still do. Now that I'm a little older, I find the pink-ness of Benetint to be not quite what I'm looking for; the effect can be a little too "doll-like". I actually rarely use blush or cheek stain any longer. But for days when I need a little extra color in my face, and for a subtle, pretty pink lip stain, I still turn to my old favorite.

  • Benefit BADgal Kohl Pencil

    Benefit BADgal Kohl Pencil

Rock Out With Benefit BADgal Eye Pencil

This is a great product for smoky, smudgy, rocker-girl eyes. That happens to be a look I really like, so the BADgal eye pencil is a must-have product for me. The pencil has a nice, almost creamy texture and is very easy to smudge out. I usually do a line along my top lashes and then smudge it up and out, and then use a brush to smudge it under my lower lashes. You really don't need any other eyeshadow or pencil, but you can easily layer it with other colors. All around a glamorous, versatile product.

    Benefit BADgal Lash

Not the Best Bang for Your Buck

I got a large sample of Benefit's BADgal mascara from Sephora; I probably wouldn't have tried it on my own as I'm already pretty devoted to Diorshow. I did carry the BADgal sample along with me whenever I had a small bag in the evening, as it was a good size for a clutch. This is a fairly basic mascara: it will make your lashes darker and it is a pretty thick formula, so it does deposit a lot of color on your lashes. However, I don't think it's any better than Great Lash or any other good, basic mascara.

  • Benefit Her Glossiness
    8.0

    Benefit Her Glossiness

    Get Shine and Get Glam!

Although I usually like a lighter feel to my lip color, I do like to layer Benefit Her Glossiness in Life on the A List on top of a darker gloss or stain to give my lips added shine. This is a very pretty, very light pink color with lots and lots of shine. The texture is a little bit sticky. Over my natural lip color, it's kind of a nude-pink. If you want to do a neutral lip color but still draw some attention to your lips, this is a good choice. And if you want to lighten up a darker lip color and add some shine, it's perfect for that, too!
