    Aveda Energizing Composition

    What exactly is this stuff?

Weird scent, not really an essential oil, not a strong enough scent to be worn as a perfume...I experimented with this and the Calming Composition for several months before settling on a perfect use: aftershave balm for my legs. Apply very liberally and the stuff makes your legs look like perfection.

    Chanel No.5 Parfum

    Classic and Outdated

Simply too heavy for use in our society where many people are sensitive to heavy cloying fragrances. . If you want to use a Chanel fragrance that isn’t so heavy but still has a classic angle, I suggest Chance or Coco. My mother used this CHANEL N°5 PARFUM in the 1970's and even then it was just too, too much. Might be worth owning for the nostalgic affect but as far as being a useful part of your beauty cache, no way.

  • Lancome L'Absolu Rouge

With all the completely jaw dropping awesome products out there, the only reason to use this lipstick is if you get it for free out of the bottom of your sister's make-up drawer, like I did.

  • Lancome Colour Focus Palette 4 Ombres

How easy is this? Four custom colors hand picked by the pros at Lancôme. Colors blend seamlessly, lasts forever. Ask your Lancôme Lady how to apply for maximum effect. Well worth the $40 price tag. If you buy one eye shadow quad this year, make this the one.

Chanel Cils a Cils Lash Building Mascara

Perfect, another one of my desert island products.

This is lovely mascara. Stop at your local Chanel counter and try it out, it's truly a no-fail product. Since Chanel doesn't advertise their cosmetics as much as other companies do, the word about their best products tends to get out over the web and in magazines like Allure. It was the web where I found out about this and I truly love it and recommend it, especially for a special day when you really want to look your best. Application is flawless, lengthens beautifully, just enough oopmph without looking silly. And when the party is over, removes like a dream. This is another one of my desert island products.

    Not for the Natural Gals

I looked like I was going out for Halloween after using this product, Hard to control, messy and fake looking, I returned it to Macy’s after 3 attempts. Maybe the NYC girls enjoy looking like their lashes aren’t of this world but as for me, I like my goodies accented not cartoonish.

  • L'Oreal Paris HiP Studio Secrets Professional Concentrated Shadow Duos

The colors are so outrageous that it’s hard to imagine circumstances where their use would be appropriate, even if you were a Clown for Cirque du Soleil, you’d at least have class enough not to want to look garish. As far as the product itself is concerned, the particles are very large and do not adhere well to the eye area or blend well and are very hard to control…and because it’s a drugstore item, you can’t try before you buy. Skip this.

  • Estee Lauder Tender Blush

    Estee Lauder Tender Blush

Costs too much? Let's work this out...

First, be smart and visit an Estee Lauder counter to pick your most flattering shade. Money shouldn’t ben an object when you’re choosing something your going to be putting on your face for the next year (that’s about how long my blush lasts me) and if you can’t afford $25 a year for a good blush then maybe you need to rethink your occupation! (Just teasing but seriously, ask for the blush for your birthday or steal it but get this blush!) The basics, application is a dream, goes on light and then the more whorish you want it, the heavier handed you go. I found, too, that the brush is important. Failing that, talk to your counter person about how to apply the blush with the brush you've got so that it best accentuates your face. I mean as long as you’re going to drop $25 on blush, you may as well get all the extra benefits you can, right? Lastly, be aware that not all counter people know what they're talking about. If you get a bad feeling or are completely startled when she picks out a shocking pink blush and then assures you that this color is just perfect for you, don’t feel bad about getting the heck out of there. This has happened to me before. Sometimes it takes a few trips to the mall to find the right Lauder Lady but don’t give up.

    Lancome Renergie Cream

    Awesome discovery

I received this as a gift and started using it on the weekends under powder. I love how it feels, just soaks right in yet leaves skin feeling seriously moisturized all day (and that’s really saying something as I live in the frozen Tundra of Minnesota). I apply powder over the Renergie and it never sticks or cakes. This is a high quality product that I would definitely consider moving to my weekday rotation.

  • Estee Lauder AeroMatte Ultralucent Pressed Powder

I've tried every powder known to woman and this all-star is my favorite. My super fair skin can handle the pigment in 1W Transparent perfectly and when applied with a chubby brush over an aerosol foundation I can have a natural serious coverage that will last all day long without any additional applications. This powder is not drying, is silky to the touch and can be used to conceal as well. Lastly, I use this powder over Lancôme’s Renergie on the weekends when I’m playing XBOX and doing laundry, spending time with my homies. It's the best powder ever.
