  • L'Oreal Paris Telescopic Explosion Carbon Black Mascara

pro: it gets all over your lashes, everywhere you'd want it. con: it gets all over your lashes, even where you don't want it. the round "flexi-globe" brush is a bit intimidating (it looks like the weapon the schoolgirl was wielding in kill bill, just at the end of a wand instead of a chain!) this unique shape is supposed to allow you to reach your lashes individually from every direction so you get complete coverage. because the brush is small, you end up taking a few swipes more than you would with your typical brush. the challenge is that as you swipe, your lashes will inevitably come in contact with the wand portion and you wind up with globs and clumps of mascara all over your lashes - more so than you wanted. the brush itself isn't very good at spreading out extra product or separating lashes either. i found myself wiping of extra product and separating w/ my fingers/fingernails. but i've learned to really use the "come at it from all angles" approach - even pointing the wand at my eyes as if i were about to poke my eyes out, to maximize brush contact and minimize actual wand contact. once you do get the hang of it, you can really lengthen and lift your corner lashes. i usually prefer a curling mascara to help my straight lashes but this surprisingly adds a bit of lift. not my fave, but at the fraction of the cost of higher end brands, not bad either. ***i was lucky enough to score a free sample of this product***

  • Revlon Colorstay 12 Hour Eye Shadow Quad
    7.0

Revlon Colorstay 12 Hour Eye Shadow Quad

not bad for a drugstore brand

PROS: selection of 4 blendable shades, two applicators, brief "eye shadow for dummies" instructions on the back, long-lasting (maybe not 12 hours but at least 8-10) CONS: no mirror in the compact, shades are a bit too subtle (#05 blushed wines), shadow doesn't always go on smoothly/evenly (have to blend quite a bit!), after hour #10, shadow may crease a bit; not enough shimmer. i think i like revlon's color combos better than maybelline's, but overall, maybelline goes on a bit better.

  • Got2b CrazySleek Hot Smooth Flat Iron & Blow Dry Lotion

the scent is very sweet and slightly reminiscient of st. joseph's children's aspirin! even though it comes in a spray bottle and the directions instruct you to spray it on your hair, the product itself is more like a gel than liquid so spraying directly onto your hair does NOT work. instead, i spray a couple squirts into my palm and rub it through the ends of my hair. after running a flat iron through, my hair manages to be smooth and shiny, without appearing as dry as it really is! not bad for a drugstore brand...

  • Tresemm√© Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray

i must not be using this product right. whenever i apply it to my hair (damp or dry) and then style with a curling iron or flat iron, it ends up creating flakes AND making my hair stiff and sticky. not a fan...

  • Garnier Nutri-Pure Detoxifying Wet Cleansing Towelettes

boots is still my fave for makeup wipes but these are a close second! effectively removes all traces of makeup - including mascara! - in a flash so you can minimize your bedtime routine. the cloths are super soft and nicely scented w/o being overpowering; also perfectly gentle to my sensitive skin. they're a tad smaller than boots and the package seal doesn't always close all the way, which is why i'm knocking a star down, but still a very good buy.

  • Neutrogena Illuminating Eye Reviver

    Neutrogena Illuminating Eye Reviver

    brightens dark circles!

i rarely get more than 5 or 6 hours of sleep a night and my eyes show it =( so i'm always on the lookout for something that can help reduce dark circles and puffiness. this product claims to "instantly give(s) your eyes a well-rested glow and helps to reduce the appearance of dark circles and under-eye puffiness...while conditioning the skin...revitalize your eyes after one use and significantly reduce the appearance of dark circles in just one week!" well, it's been one week...and i'm impressed! this subtly sparkly rich cream is like an illuminator, using "smoke and mirrors" to reflect light in a way to reduce the appearance of dark circles. i could immediately feel it working the first time i used it (i like it when i can feel the slightly tingly/tightening action!) and a week later, i can see a subtle difference. unfortunately it's not so effective in reducing eye puffiness and as rich as the cream is, it's not very moisturizing. oh well, it can't be everything!

  • Pond's Age defEYE

    Pond's Age defEYE

comparable to pricier department store brands

if you're looking to splurge on eye cream, this is a pretty good deal. i'm not sure if i noticed any dramatically reduced dark circles under my eyes, but i could swear i could feel my skin tightening as it quickly absorbed the thick cream. i like this eye cream (but noticed that when my allergies were acting up, i needed something a little more moisturizing to counteract the dryness from overrubbing my eyes).

  • Garnier Ultra-Lift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Eye Cream
    7.0

Garnier Ultra-Lift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Eye Cream

not bad for a drug-store brand

but i'm starting to think that if i really want to see a noticeable difference in de-puffing and wrinkle-reduction, i may have to splurge on a department store brand. that said, i think this is one of the better drug-store options. definitely hydrating for those who have dry, sensitive skin under their eyes (like myself); some might find it too greasy, but i like the rich feeling and it sinks in nicely 5-10 minutes later, such that by the time i apply my tinted moisturizer and concealer, they don't slide off. i can detect some "firming" sensation but the mirror doesn't reflect much difference w/ the wrinkles =(

    Clinique All About Eyes Rich

    all about...moisturizing

yes, it moisturizes well, but i'm not sure i can see a noticeable difference in reducing puffiness or dark circles =( but it's still one of the better under-eye creams i've tried.

  • Boots Botanics Moisturizing Eye Cream
    10.0

    Boots Botanics Moisturizing Eye Cream

    my new fave eye cream!

after falling in love with the boots make-up wipes, i decided to try their moisturizing eye cream. i have yet to find a decent eye cream that moisturizes while also minimizing puffiness, dark circles and fine lines (i know that's a lot to ask for from a simple cream!) but after just a couple weeks of using this cream, i swear i can see a difference! not only does it moisturize as promised - without feeling heavy or greasy - but the light shimmer seems to help with dark circles and i see fewer wrinkles! it reminds me of the neutrogena eye cream in that it moisturizes but this is the better multipurpose deal! plus you get a lot of bang for your buck - a little bit goes a long way and the jar's twice the size of what you'd normally get from other brands for the same price. i'm sold!
