    Benefit You Rebel

    worst tinted moisturizer!

i've tried a number of tinted moisturizers (bobbi brown, laura mercier, the balm, stila, urban decay, etc) and this was by far the worst one. it was not oil free, the metal tube it is in is simply terrible packaging, and it made me break out. to boot - the color doesn't even really blend with my skin, while the "lite" version of it is too light for me. when i told the associate at the benefit counter, he said that you rebel wasn't making my skin oily, but rather giving me a "dewy" finish. uh, kiss my butt - i can tell the difference between dewy and oily, thanks very much. :) i will never buy this again, and would not reccommend it to anyone... unless you happen to be already fairly dark, like nc42-ish and have really dry dry skin. this product has made me hesitant to purchase any benefit face products at all... :(

  • Vincent Longo Liquid Canvas Healthy Fluid Foundation

i bought this foundation on a whim while it was on sale at Sephora (when VL was no longer going to be carried by the stores) and I fell in love. Since then, I have run out, and been trying to find my shade again online somewhere - but to no avail. :( I loved this foundation. It gave me the perfect amount of coverage without actually looking like it was covering anything. If that makes sense haha. This would be ideal for the person who is looking for a foundation that feels like a tinted moisturizer, but provides a bit more coverage. And it also lasts longer than a TM, and has mattifying properties so I don't look like the Gulf of Mexico after a BP oil spill. p.s. The only reason I didn't give it the full 10 stars is because 1. I can't find it!! and 2. the original retail price is steeeep, I think at $65? And the bottle isn't particularly large. Quite small, actually.

    Dior Diorshow Waterproof

    one of the best mascaras

Everyone talks about Diorshow mascara. That's just a fact of life. And until very recently, I thought it was just hype. I've always been a user of waterproof mascara, and as an Asian with very straight lashes that point downward, it's important for me to find a mascara with a formula that won't smudge or weigh down my lashes. A lot of the times, I find that a mascara is fabulously waterproof, but will make my freshly curled lashes droop... Or that a mascara that claims to be a curling waterproof one, will be only one or neither. And I had given up hope on finding the perfect mascara until this one. I first want to say - that the formula really is waterproof. It is also not heavy on my lashes and will actually hold my curl in place. Additionally,I love the big fat brush!! Sometimes a smaller brush is more useful, and I can admit to that - but this big brush is absolutely lovely. Size really does matter! ;)

  • Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Powder

There are a lot of people out there who love Physician's Formula products, especially their bronzers. This was my very first PF product, which I got from a friend, and I have to admit I was pretty disappointed. First off - this stuff is way too shimmery. And not shimmery in a gold-speck flattering kind of way - these shimmers were silverish? And for my own personal preference, I prefer bronzers (most products that I use on my face, actually) to have a gold shimmer rather than a silver one, if any at all. I have light/medium skin tone and though the bronzer was in medium, hardly any color showed up on my face - just the shimmer. Ick. On the plus side, the packaging is really cute, and the brush it comes with isn't half bad as many brushes that are built into drugstore cosmetics are. I also think that little pink hert is adorbs. Personally, this was just not my cup of tea.

  • L'Oreal Paris Sublime Mousse by Healthy Look

L'Oreal Paris Sublime Mousse by Healthy Look

easy application and loved the color

I had my hair colored and highlighted at a salon several weeks ago and loved it until it started to turn orange-y on me. I purchased the Sublime Mousse in Pure Medium Brown and I am so impressed! I have pretty long hair - the longest layer reaches my waist - and I was worried that one box of the dye wouldn't be enough... but it was! Application was super easy cuz it's a foam (duh) and it pretty much just felt like I was putting shampoo in my hair and rubbing it around. I would definitely recommend this product :)

  • L'Oreal Paris Telescopic Explosion Carbon Black Mascara

At any given time, there are anywhere between 3 - 7 different mascaras in my cosmetic case. Right now, I have tubes of Exceptionnel de Chanel, LashFusion, Maybelline Define-A-Lash, Clinique High Impact, and recently added to my collection: L'Oreal Paris Telescopic Explosion. My initial thought was that this is the drugstore version of Givenchy's Phenomeneyes - which it is. The brush did nothing for me that any of my other mascaras cannot do - if anything, it actually took longer to apply... and while the brush neither impressed nor disappointed, the formula was smudge-y. I wore the mascara for something like six hours - and by the end of the night, I resembled a raccoon. My lashes weren't particularly longer, nor more voluminous, than when I use my fave Chanel mascara. My lashes didn't stay as curled as when I use Define-A-Lash, and I definitely didn't receive any of the "protein deposits" that my LashFusion mascara offers. Perhaps when L'Oreal introduces a waterproof formula, it will be better by a bit. But as of now, this mascara is nothing to write home about.
