Here are all my reviews:
  • Maybelline New York Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Shadow

When these eyeshadows came out, I was extremely skeptical of them. For starters, I have extremely oily skin and have had issues in the past with cream shadows and even powders creasing on me quite a bit. Also, I didn’t see how it would be possible to get such bright color with a thin layer of cream shadow. But this line has incredible reviews so I just had to give it a try. I was completely blown away. The colors are richly pigmented, which means one think layer and you’re good to go. With my skin, I have found that I can only wear these without primer if I wear them very thin...but with primer they last all day! I was and still am extremely impressed by the quality of this line-it goes far above and beyond the typical drugstore cream shadows I have experimented with. The price is pretty much unbelievable not just for the quality, but also for how much product you get in each jar. Although the release of the metallic line is a step in the right direction, I truly would love to see this line expand explosively. These shadows are high quality enough to impress a makeup junkie, and simple enough to apply for a complete beginner. Therefore, I would recommend them to just about anyone. Bad to The Bronze is a great stand-alone color that I sweep on on days I don’t have much time for makeup. The reflective quality in the cream plays off my eyes natural contours, making the look complete even though it was totally effortless. I am so excited to see what is next for this line. I would love to see Maybelline come out a palette collection of some sort for this product. Overall, they truly do live up to the high ratings they have received.

    CoverGirl Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadows

    Favorite Drugstore Single Eyeshadow

I absolutely love these single shadows! My first purchase of Covergirl eyeshadows was a trio, and I was incredibly disappointed in it. However, after seeing enough youtubers rave about the single eyeshadow in Champaign, I figured I should give the singles a try. I was completely surprised! The colors are rich and velvety. They are certainly not the most opaque in the market, but they are incredibly easy to work with and color can be built up by layering. I have found them to be easy to blend with virtually any other eyeshadow out there. I get a little bit of fallout but it is certainly not bad. Concerning staying power - these shadows certainly need a primer, as they will crease without one. But with a primer, they are wonderful. The color range is nice but they could certainly expand. I would also like to see the shimmer shades to be just a bit less glittery and more finely milled and metallic looking. The price is fabulous-the amount of product you get for your buck is great. However, something they could definitely improve is the packaging-it’s the typical cheap, flimsy drugstore look that I really wish could get vamped up a little bit. Another random comment - I do not understand why anyone bothers to include sponge tip applicators. I don’t know anyone who uses them regularly, and it seems like they could either cut pack the price a bit, or include more product, if they just removed the applicators and sold them separately. But overall, I highly recommend these shadows. Singles are great for when you’re looking for a particular shade but don’t want to go out and purchase an entire palette. I would love to see more colors and better packaging from the line, but other than that, it’s a great buy.

  • CoverGirl Eye Enhancers 3-Kit Shadows

Since I love the single eyeshadows from Covergirl, I was expecting the same results from the trios. However, it’s almost like they’re from a completely different brand. While I found the shadows to be velvety to the touch, they were very chalky on my eyelids and I had a ton of fallout. The color payoff was incredibly disappointing-even with layering and primer, I couldn’t achieve a truly opaque look from any of the three colors. As if they couldn’t get any worse, they creased pretty badly as well. While I was drawn in by the low price and the pretty colors, I definitely feel like I wasted my money here. I would much rather purchase the single eyeshadows from the brand, or purchase palettes with better formulas such as Milani or Wet N Wild. Also, the packaging is pretty cheap. So overall, I do not recommend these trios in the least, other brands sell palettes with far more to offer.

  • Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Blush

This blush is a total joke. It literally does not matter how much of the product you attempt to apply to your cheeks-how many layers, how much you cover your brush in the product-it will not show up. At all. Perhaps it is just that the color of the product is too light...but I have only seen the product in the color that I purchased. What were they thinking? The brush, as is typical for Physician’s Formula, is coarse, scratchy, and ineffective. The packaging is supposed to be organic, and while I am all about that movement, I found that it is pretty flimsy-the paper started peeling off pretty much initially upon my purchase of the product. Since Physician’s Formula has so many great blush products, I was expecting this to be another awesome breakthrough, and I was completely and utterly disappointed. I would not recommend this to anyone.

  • Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Loose Powder

This has got to be one of the most negative reviews I will ever write. So let me start with the only positive thing I can think of: I am overjoyed that I bought this product on clearance, because had I paid full price, I would have been outraged. Everything about this powder is a nightmare. I purchased this around 10 months ago, and have used it just about every way-over multiple types of liquid foundation, straight over moisturizer, over primer, with and without setting powder...you name it. I have applied it heavily ( a HUGE mistake ) and lightly. Literally nothing I have done has given me a decent affect. I have never had a more cakey powder in my life-no matter how light of a hand you use, this product goes on like chalk. The scent is terrible-again, we’re talking straight up chalk. Although coverage evens out minor discrepancies in skin tone, there is little to no coverage effect over blemishes. Even when used over concealer, the caking factor draws all sorts of attention to whatever it is you were originally trying to cover up. The color I got matched my skin perfectly, which is perhaps why I have so patiently tried to find a way to make this product work for me, but I have had absolutely no success. Another disappointment was the brush. I love the concept of the packaging, and the compact design. But the brush bristles were incredibly coarse, and I felt like I was literally getting exfoliation done while trying to apply with that brush. Overall, this product was an extreme disappointment. Between this and another failed product from the organic line, I think I am forever scared away from the line. I would not recommend this to anyone at all-if it caked this terribly on my oily skin, I can only imagine what it would do to people with dry skin or wrinkles! Solid thumbs down.

  • CoverGirl Professional Loose Powder
    7.0

    CoverGirl Professional Loose Powder

    Not bad...but not a repurchase.

I purchased this product a few months ago and have since had plenty of time to experiment with it. I have applied it both with the puff that comes with the product, as well as with a makeup brush, and have found that I prefer a makeup brush. I am simply more accustomed to makeup brushes, and the puff seemed pretty unhygienic to me. It bothers me that the lid does not screw on: it’s more of a press-on lid, and I am very careful when traveling with this product because I feel as though the lid could slide right off at any moment. So packaging receives a solid thumbs down for me. The powder itself has it’s pros and cons. I hate the smell. Very baby powder-esque, mixed with some scent that reminds me of my grandmother. Not my jam. However, I only notice the scent upon initial application. The powder is incredibly light and fine-very soft, and lovely feeling on the skin. It’s pretty translucent, and is nearly impossible to cake. So I absolutely LOVE the formula. I have found that I can use this powder over just about anything-from liquid foundation to powder foundation, and even over a finished face complete with blush and contouring-and the results are the same. It’s certainly no miracle setting powder-my face is an oil factory, and I still end up shiny at the end of the day when I use this product. However, I do feel that it keeps my makeup in place, and prevents fading considerably. I would certainly recommend this product to anyone looking for a good drugstore setting powder because the price is great, the amount of product you receive is insane, and it’s pretty much impossible to cake. A great buy with a little room for improvement.

  • Rimmel London Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick

Rimmel’s Moisture Renew lipstick in Red Alert was the first I ever owned. I love that lipstick to this day, and have several others from that collection. However, it was not until very recently that I decided it was time to try out the Kate Moss collection. I cannot believe it took me so long! I bought the deep red shade and I absolutely love it. Each color in this line is completely gorgeous - you can tell Kate took a lot of time making each one perfect. I love that as small as the collection is, there is a wide range of colors - from a pink nude to a deep dark purple. The colors seem to be true to the color on the tube, which is something I can’t say the same for with Revlon lipsticks and some other drugstore brands. These lipsticks are also quite opaque, so overall the color factor of this line is phenomenal. Another great factor is the price-you get incredible quality, and quite a bit of product, for cheaper than many drugstore brands. However, where I live (California) many drugstore makeup brands have sales often, and I have never caught a Rimmel one. As for the formula of these lipsticks, I am very impressed. The product goes on smoothly and the color is even. I didn’t have any problems with caking or fine lines. The staying power was INCREDIBLE. I am always slightly paranoid wearing a dark lipstick out for the first time, but with this product, when I checked in the mirror two hours after application, my lips were still perfect! This was without a balm, primer, or lip liner. Of course eating and drinking does wear on the product, but that can only be expected. Overall I highly recommend this lipstick line. I want to see more colors, Kate!

  • Rimmel London Fix & Perfect Pro Primer

I have extremely oily skin, so most foundations tended to disappoint me and eventually, I decided it was time to venture into the realm of face primers. Since I have had great experiences with many Rimmel products, I decided to give this primer a try. It seemed like a great value getting so much for such an affordable price-another feature I love about Rimmel. Plus the whole 5-in-1 advertising made it seem like a well-balanced, multi-purpose product. Upon trying it out for the first time, the first thing I learned is that a little really does go a long way. Too much, and your skin can feel a bit oily. It feels like a much like a typical moisturizer in my hands, but once I start blending it into my face, it gets very silky and leaves my face extremely soft and even. If you use a mineral foundation, it can cause patches of product to stick and not blend well, so be wary of that. However, I typically use liquid foundations and found that this product has worked well with every foundation that I have. As for keeping my makeup in place-this is not my miracle product. At the end of the day, not matter what combination of foundations and setting powders on my face, it is usually a bit shiny on my t-zone. But it certainly helps my makeup to last a couple more hours than usual, and for the price, I can’t complain at all. I am not sure if I will ever find a better primer for the price. So for now, this is my everyday product. I highly recommend it to any skin type since it does have a bit of moisturizer for those of you with dry skin. Great job Rimmel, just not quite strong enough for the oiliest among us.

  • Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder
    7.0

Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder

Good product, but not for me.

As someone who has incredibly oily skin, products that claim to “stay matte” always get me excited. This powder came with great reviews so I decided to give it a shot with high hopes. For the price, I think that it is a pretty good product, but it doesn’t blow me away. Rimmel is a pretty great brand and I love their prices, that is certainly a plus. I found the perfect shade for my skin as well, and I appreciate that the powder has a bit of a tint to it without being over-powering. I have found that some setting powders that are not translucent can get cakey, but that was not the case with this one. There is a range of colors available, so it can be used with most skin tones. There is also a ton of powder in each container, so expect this stuff to last a while. The product is easily blendable-I typically use either a kabuki brush or a pouf, depending on my mood. Once, in a pinch, I had to use a sponge, and the product still went on relatively well. So overall this product applies great. However, I was moderately disappointed in the performance. Although this keeps my skin matte an extra hour or two, it certainly doesn’t do the job all day. After five or six hours, I start to get shiny. And once your skin gets oily, don’t even bother trying to cake this over it to absorb the shine-THAT is when the product starts looking cakey. So although there is much that impresses me about this product, it didn’t work for me personally. I would still recommend it to most people with normal/combination skin, however, because my skin is very hard to work with. I will not repurchase this product again, unless I hear talk of a new formula.

  • Maybelline New York Color Show Nail Lacquer

When Maybelline came out with the color show line, I was pretty unimpressed. Although I enjoyed the bright, modern colors, I thought for the most part they lacked originality for the most part. However, when I discovered the metallics and purchased “Bold Gold”, my mind was changed. This polish was the perfect gold egyptian queen shade I had been searching for all summer! In the bottle it looks shimmery and glittery; on the nails it is a smooth, perfect matte gold that looks great on fingers or toes. I like to use two coats as a default, although this polish was opaque after just one! I did discover that if you don’t mix up the color well enough before application, it can streak a bit. But that is my only complaint. Staying power was great even without a top coat, and I highly recommend this color to anyone looking into metallic shades. This was a pleasant surprise.
