    Pixi Eye Beauty Kit

    Pixi Palettes are Exceptionally Pretty!

I don't think that there is one of these sleek palettes which I don't own. They were available at a discount on another site, and I bought them all after the first one. The colors are perfectly complementary to each other, and the finishes vary from matte to shimmer. I am amazed at some the unique and deep hues this company has developed! The colors are finely-milled and blend well (the little brush applicator included is quite nice, but I suggest you work with your own tools for best results). You can go from a neutral to a smoky eye easily, and they last a long, long time, especially when applied over the base some palettes contain or a primer. They are hardly thicker than a credit card, but there is a lot of product in each pod. If you have a hard time finding them at Target, you can still get them for a good price at Amazon or eBay.

  • Estee Lauder Sensuous Nude Eau de Parfum Spray

I don't care for the original "Sensuous," as I find it harsh. This fragrance was given to me as a gift and I was delightfully surprised. It is warm and gentle and subtly seductive, with its key notes of amber, jasmine, sandalwood, vanilla(!), and--of course--musk. Beware the men who trail you when you wear this . . .

  • Estee Lauder White Linen Parfum Spray

Estee Lauder White Linen Parfum Spray

    Crisp, Clean, Classic!

I remember the very first time I sniffed "White Linen." I was literally taken aback by the gentle, powdery, floral scent. It was so different than the majority of perfumes. It was being advertised with two other scents to layer. The two others disappeared, but "White Linen" remained--with good reason. It is sheer, feminine, and reminds you of beautiful spring and summer days and a very blue sky! I wear it all year long, but especially when the weather turns warm. And I always get compliments on it. I couldn't love it more!

  • Estee Lauder Advanced Time Zone Creme SPF 15 for Dry Skin

Estee Lauder Advanced Time Zone Creme SPF 15 for Dry Skin

Estee, You Can Do Better Than This . . .

I don't know what I spend researching and trying the most--moisturizers, mascaras, or eye shadows. Probably moisturizers. My skin is in good shape so far, with no wrinkles at all. I do my best to keep it that way. In modeling school I learned that the sun is skin's worst enemy, no matter what season. I always use products containing SPF and a separate SPF as well. One of my all-time favorite products is Estee Lauder's "Perfectionist [CP+R] Wrinkle Lifting/Firming Serum." It leaves my skin wonderfully hydrated, with a velvet-like finish. The last time I went to renew my supply of this, the saleswoman asked if I use it in combination with their "Advanced Time Zone" cream. I told her no. She said, "You can't possibly use the Perfectionist alone!" Her tone was just condescending enough to bring out a rather sarcastic remark from me: "Well, I do, and my face is still intact!" She looked disgusted and walked away. I thought about her suggestion and visited another store to purchase Time Zone for dry skin, since it was the middle of winter and keeping skin supple was a major battle. Estee Lauder boasts that you will look younger in a mere five days. It contains a Tri-HA Cell Signaling Complex™ which is supposed to help skin boost its own production of Hyaluronic Acid by 182 percent in three days (I'm sorry, but these numbers amuse me and don't help to sell the product; how do they determine a measurement of 182 percent, please?). I do love Hyaluronic Acid and have seen it work wonders for me before. This is a truly emollient, rich cream. It is refreshing and comforting. It is to be used at night and in the morning. When I used it at night, I was annoyed at the slick finish left behind. I attempted to use it during the day under makeup--that was completely impossible. No matter how little I used or how well I blended, any base (liquid or powder) would congeal on my skin. Yes, my skin was silky, but no more than with any other moisturizer. Perhaps this would work for other women; it did nothing but agitate me.

  • Clarisonic Mia Sonic Skin Cleansing System
    10.0

Clarisonic Mia Sonic Skin Cleansing System

    Mama Mia, What a Difference!

I have always been meticulous about cleansing my skin (except for the few times I have fallen asleep still wearing makeup, but those are far and few between). I use an oil or cream to whisk away makeup, oil, and grime, and then I follow with a good cleanser or DHC's "White Soap" for a really thick lather. I was happy with the routine for a long time--until Clarisonic's "Mia™ Sonic Skin Cleansing System" hit the shelves and the magazine ads. Shortly afterward, my husband wanted a hint about what to buy for me for Christmas. Normally I hem and haw and ask him to pick something out which he thinks I'll like, but I was more forthright. I was downright gutsy. I said, "Sweetheart, I would love a Clarisonic Mia.™" His initial response was, "A WHAT? I have no idea what you're talking about." So I took him into Ulta where there was one left in pink. "You can have whatever you want, you know that," he told me, "but I thought you had a lot of facial brushes in the bathroom." "I do," I explained, "But this is sonic, like our toothbrush. It has penetrating waves which will clean our pores more thoroughly (note my clever use of the word "our" here)." I went on to explain the other benefits: The soft, gentle brush moves back and forth at more than three hundred times per second, sloughing off old, dead, dry skin cells and allowing new ones to appear. It removes makeup six times more effectively than traditional methods. The cleansing is so thorough that serums and creams you use to avoid or fight wrinkles sink in thoroughly and work more efficaciously. Well, I did receive my wish, and I'm thrilled that I did. My pores are noticeably smaller. Blackheads are just about a thing of the past. My skin is softer, and the products I use seem to be more potent at keeping my skin young-looking. I'm not the only one hooked on Mia™--my husband now uses it as well. Just a tip: Wash the brush frequently and change the head when needed for optimal performance.

  • Lancome Renergie Lift Makeup

    Lancome Renergie Lift Makeup

    Lancome's Foundation is Simply LOVELY!

Lancome should hire me as a spokeswoman; you see, I promote their products so much for free anyway that I would be an asset to them. I always return to their "Dual Finish Versatile Powder Makeup." It is seamless on me and so quick to apply. There is no heavy powder look--just radiance! This Pennsylvania winter was absolutely brutal and I needed a tad more moisture, even with great skin products, and so I turned to their liquid "Renergie Lift Makeup" ($45.00). I appreciated the huge range of shades in cool, warm, and neutral, and I found a fair one to suit my light skin perfectly. Lancome has created a Micro-Lift™ Technology which is actually a dispersion of waxes to create an imperceptible molding network on the skin, like shapewear for your complexion, instantly giving an uplifting feeling and look. Reflective Micro-Pearls play with light to catch it and add an optical glowing illusion. Vitamin E goes to work to leave you looking younger, softening skin and blurring visible lines and creases. There is an SPF of 20 included--so important in the summer or winter! This is a moderate-coverage base. It is substantive enough to disguise imperfections and even skin's tone, yet it is never heavy or cakey. Since your face is the "canvas" for other products, I think it's extremely important to find a foundation which works perfectly for you. Lancome, you have my heart (and a lot of my money!).

  • Temptu AIR pod Highlighter

    Temptu AIR pod Highlighter

    Very TEMPTING Highlighter!

Like Carole, I was very fortunate to win the Temptu System. I telephoned the company to ask which highlighter would be best, as it is available in several colors, from "Champagne" (sheer shimmer) to "Gold," "Pink Pearl," "Sunset Glow" (peach) and bronzes. They advised me that "Champagne" would be most becoming. The wand is accurate at aiming the highlighter exactly where you want it (it can even be used on eyelids, but I'm not that proficient yet). I do use it for a natural yet radiant sheen on my cheekbones and across the bridge of my nose (very, very lightly here). It is dewy, soft, and simply gorgeous!

  • It's A 10 Miracle Leave-In Product

Several years ago, a stylist highly recommended this to me. I was going through the phase when I wouldn't leave the house without washing my hair daily; I was afraid that a leave-in conditioner would coat my hair and leave it heavy. Not at all! It renews strength, shine, and softness. It's especially helpful to me after having had injections and large oral doses of Prednisone for pain--it wrought havoc with my tresses! "It's a Ten" helps to repair the damage and is bringing my hair back to new life!

  • L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara

    L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara

    Love This Mascara, L'Oreal!

This is one of my absolute favorite drugstore mascaras which actually lives up to its claims. Available in black or in brown/black (for a softer look), L'Oreal's "Voluminous Original Mascara" does separate lashes quite nicely, while adding lots of clump-free volume (great for those of us who are not well-endowed when it comes to lashes). I have no problems with flaking or smudging. This is pretty close to perfection, all for about $8.50!

  • Artistry Light Up Lip Gloss
    10.0

    Artistry Light Up Lip Gloss

    Another "A" for Artistry!

I think that the Artistry line from Amway is superb in general. Let's just take this lip gloss as an example. It comes in shimmering pink, red, and neutral shades. A built-in mirror and clever little light for application anywhere (a dark car, a romantic restaurant, the theater, etc.) make life so much easier. And when you apply? Your pretty pout will be refreshed and highlighted by a great gloss with a cooling, tingling mint sensation. No tackiness here--just hours of gorgeous wear. It may seem high in price, but Artistry says that you will get at least two hundred applications from one lovely tube. And the little light? It should stay lit for six years with average years! By then your gloss will have been long gone . . .
