    Revlon ColorStay Concealer

    Covers and Doesn't Budge--Love It!

I'm huge on products doing what they claim to do. Revlon's "Colorstay Blemish Concealer" exceeds its claims. It simply doesn't budge and provides excellent coverage on areas of uneven skin tone and blemishes. Although it contains Glycerin, Aloe Leaf Juice, Silk, and Sodium Hyaluronate, I still do NOT use this around my eyes because of the relatively high concentrate of Salicylic Acid. There's always one in my purse. If a malady is bothering me, I know that this will keep it disguised for a very long time. When I go into overtime, I may need a touch-up, but it's only occasionally. A wise reader suggested not touching it directly to blemishes; good idea! Apply to a clean finger and then spread.

  • Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15

    Fresh Softens and Colors Beautifully!

My lips are not naturally very full, and for the great part of the year I have a hard time keeping them moist. Peeling can be a real problem during Pennsylvania's brutal winters and searing summers. I've tried a multitude of lip products, but none have completely helped with my problems. Thus, I used to put a bit of brown sugar on a very soft-bristled toothbrush and rub gently to rid my pout of dead skin and soften the skin. Fresh's delectable "Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15" has taken that duty away from me by creating a lip softener with a chief ingredient of sugar to exfoliate and keep moisture in my lips. Who knew--sugar itself is a natural humectant! On top of that, Fresh adds Tart and Sweet Black Currant Oils, which are rich in plumping Essential Fatty Acids. Add to that mix Vitamins A, C, and E, helpful in providing protection from wrinkle-causing free radicals. Last but certainly not least: Jojoba, Meadowfoam Seed, and Avocado Oils work overtime for baby-smooth lips. But that's not where the beauty ends. This product is available in a variety of flattering shades. I gravitate toward "Sugar Berry Tinted" (a sheer berry-mauve) and "Sugar Rose Tined" (a light berry-rose). The scent is wonderful! You can wear this alone for just a hint of color or as a helpful base under any other lip product. Your lips will thank you!

    Revlon Nail Clip

    Best Clipper Available

If you want a no-fuss, no-muss, no-hangnail way to trim nails and be done, then this is the tool for you. It is strong, sharp, and well-made. The added nail file is a plus for on-the-go touch-ups. My husband and I won't use any other!

  • Estee Lauder Beautiful Eau de Parfum Spray

I have tried to love this fragrance--the ads with gorgeous brides are so enticing. This is supposed to be a "delicate" floral mix of Lilies and Roses, Marigold, Orange Blossoms, and a touch of Citrus, made a little warmer by a "woody base." I have never been able to stand this scent. I remember when this perfume made its debut. Department stores covered their sidewalks with pink carpeting. Loved the carpeting, hated the aroma! It is strong, heavy, and overpowering, no matter how much you wear.

    Sally Hansen Cuticle Massage Cream

Cuticle Problems are a Thing of the Past!

I love this rich, fragrant cream with Apricot Extract. When my nails are polished, I massage around cuticles themselves to keep them soft and pliable. When my nails are bare, I slather this on to nourish nails (I cover with hand cream and white gloves while I sleep). I notice that they are stronger and have fewer ridges with this potent little pot. Sally Hansen does know about nails; few of their items have ever disappointed me!

  • Ojon Damage Reverse Instant Restorative Hair Serum

Having to take steroids for pain for a long time wrought havoc with my once-strong, shiny, healthy hair. I quit washing it every day (and use only cool water when I do), make sure to deep-condition regularly, take powerful vitamin and mineral supplements, sleep on a satin pillowcase so that friction doesn't cause further breakage, and switched to an Ionic hair dryer which takes longer to work but is more gentle in the long run. After washing or when rough ends and/or fly-away's become a problem, I use Ojon's "Damage Reverse Instant Restorative Hair Serum." This is a weightless serum with Ojon Oil and Rouge Oleifera to penetrate the hair shaft, repairing and restoring shine and manageability. Only a very small amount is needed to see results. My stylist and others have noticed an overall improvement in my hair's health. I vary between this and John Frieda's "Frizz-Ease Thermal Protection Serum." My hair is becoming like it used to be--finally!

  • Origins Ginger Essence Intensified Fragrance Rollerball

A few years ago, I was working at a school auction and kept catching a waft of something warm but soft, powdery but fresh. I finally started to ask the women there who was wearing a fragrance. One admitted to using this, and I've used it ever since. It's a very enticing aroma, with Ginger, Lemon, Lime, and Bergamot. Wonderful!

  • Pantene AgeDefy Shampoo

    Pantene AgeDefy Shampoo

Doesn't Live Up to the Hype

Yes, my hair felt stronger and more luxurious after washing, but there was a definite heavy, "helmet-head" feel after just one day. I don't wash my hair daily any more and was disappointed. Pantene used to make some of the BEST products available; it was so good that it was only sold in department stores. I wish they would go back to original formulas.

  • Benefit Fine-One-One

    Benefit Fine-One-One

    "FINE" is an Understatement!

I love the play on words Benefit uses for its products. And, like most of their products, their new "Fine ONE-ONE" is a multi-tasking hit! I do use powder blushes, but they have to be ultra-soft and completely seamless so that the color doesn't drag me down and make me look old (I fancy Tarte's "Amazonian Clay" version, along with Estee Lauder's "Signature Silky Powder Blush" and LancĂ´me's "Blush Subtil"). This is a very unique cream-to-powder formula. It comes in an oblong shape with three sheer colors--a pink-champagne colored highlighter on one side, a rosy watermelon hue in the middle, and a brightening coral at the other end. Benefit is famous for using products to "fake it" (think of "The Realness of Concealness" here, a totally wonderful blend of concealing products to both disguise imperfections and make your skin radiant at the same time). When you apply this lightweight trio of shades, hold the container so that the pink-champagne highlighter is at the top. Begin at the apples of the cheeks and sweep upward and outward. Then, blend in a gentle circular motion. You've not only added color to your face this way, but you've contoured it as well. Talk about clever! Coverage is so translucent that it is suggested that you layer it over or under other tints or powders. I don't find that necessary. If you desire additional "oomph," simply repeat the process. (Just a hint here: Since you are using the wand up against your skin, wipe with a clean tissue immediately afterward to keep the product clean and free of contamination. And, no, I am not OCD.) This color is so pliable, so workable that it would flatter those with the fairest skin to those with medium- and dark-toned complexions. Simply work with it. Once you're done with your cheeks, swipe across your lips (once again cleaning afterward). What I've noticed is a gentle pink glow which is very becoming! This blush stays in place a long time and would be a wonderful addition to your spring/summer makeup colors.

  • Vaseline Intensive Rescue Repairing Fragrance Free Body Lotion

We tend to equate moisturizing products like this one with winter-whipped skin. But with spring here now and summer on the way, you want to keep hands, arms, legs, and feet comfortable and glowing. I like this moisturizer a lot. My skin absorbs it instantly and there is a definite feel of hydration. I like the fact that it is hypoallergenic and free of any smell so that it doesn't clash with a scent I'm wearing. Rough elbows and knees have a satin-like finish. The main ingredient is Glycerin; never underestimate this powerhouse in terms of its ability to heal skin.
