    Bourjois Maxi-Frange Waterproof

Two, Two, Two wands with one!

currently one of my fave mascaras, too bad bourjois will no longer be marketed in the US. I'm stocking up now while 30% off at my local sephora. first comb/wand lengthens, thickens lashes, second brush wand deposits rich pigment. for my thin but long lashes this is the best bang for my buck that i've found yet. this mascara applies easily (albeit in two steps), stays in place all day without smudging or flaking, and is easily removed by an oil based cleanser. i just may have to make annual trips to france to replenish.

tarte Lengthen, Curl, and Volumize Mascara - Black

off-putting odor makes this product a reject

i'll never know if this mascara is capable of realizing it's advertising claims. i purchased a brand new tube at my local sephora, which i can only assume had not been opened and exposed to air. the texture indicated a fresh product and although the wand was not a typical mascara wand, i was interested in checking it out. i didn't notice immediately the smell of this product. i applied it generously, found it slightly clumpy (probably the unusual wand) and no curling action. what i noticed most of all was the tearing of my eyes, subsequent smearing of the product and an odor that seemed to ooze from my lashes. then i smelled the wand and the bottle -- sure enough this was the source of the unpleasantness, i'm willing to believe that my eyes may more sensitive than average but for the life of me, i will never understand the use of fragrance in any product that is applied near the eye. i so want to like tarte as i want to like benefit, but i think that both of these companies have gotten too big for their britches and are compelled to release products as quick as the 'big boys'. i for one, wish they'd look back to their past and look at what they did right in the first place to know where to go in the future.

    Benefit Dr. Feelgood

    Dear Duckter Feelgood

Notice I called you Duckter? It's because you are a quack, quack, quack, quack. Sincerely, a "patient" who is out of patience * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I strongly disliked this product. It sounded so good in advertising -- something to smooth my skin and fill in lines, hot dang! I'd pay just about anything. I did not mind the price (US $26) for a charmingly packaged tin containing slightly less than one ounce of a colorless balm consisting primarily of cornstarch and wax. I purchased this product (basically a foundation primer) through Sephora online, largely because of my fondness for BeneFit and the product literature which states that Dr. Feelgood "helps to smooth away the appearance of fine lines....looking more silky, flawless...a weightless miracle worker". I didn't really expect miracles, but I was hoping for some line smoothing at least. When it arrived, I applied it eagerly, following one set of the two conflicting directions I found for the product, which was under my make up. I dipped and dabbed with the cute little sponge, from the cute little tin. It smelled vaguely of citronella candles. Excellent! No west nile for me this season. All levity aside through, the scent itself was somewhat unpleasant for a facial product. In my experience, no lines were smoothed away, or even appeared to be; my skin became far from silky and flawless (it broke out, became waxy and flaky). I noticed no miracles. The next day, however, I did notice a rash and discomfort which quickly led to dry flaky patches, as well as red, raw eruptions on what is generally a well behaved complexion. I decided to wait a few days and try the alternative directions which was to apply Dr. Feelgood over my make up. Talk about yuck! Within two hours, my make up (and skin) and flaked, peeled, and clumped to the point that I was compelled to wash everything off immediately. this product sent me to a dermatologist -- it caused my first rosacea flare and i could not wait for a refund. my advice? run don't walk away from this product.

  • Babor Calming Sensitive Couperose Serum

i love this product for the calming effect it has on my rosacea. when my face is having 'one of it's episodes' that make me want to stay home all day, this product definitely comes to the rescue. one of the most effective rosacea treatments i have used and one of the ONLY ones i repurchase. highly recommended for sensitive/rosacea skin conditions.

    Babor Wrinkle Filler

    ooooooooh!!!! aaaaaaahhhh!!!!

i love this product and do believe that it works (albeit temporarily) although it makes no further claims. sadly, the price point is beyond what i'm willing to pay. i have a friend who is an esthetician who happily provides me all the samples i can handle. the product is patted into the wrinkled areas and left alone for a while prior to applying makeup. i do notice a difference when i use it, just not sure if it is a 60 dollar difference.

    AmLactin Moisturizing Cream

    Great product, very affordable

this product resolves annoying beauty issues such as 'chicken skin' (keratosis pilaris) by using a nicely formulated lactic acid. it keeps those annoying bumps on my arms and thighs at bay as well as to help with any ingrown hairs. the product is also a great moisturizer -- i use it on my feet at night and cover with cotton socks to rid myself of dry, cracked heels. i even use it in a foot soak with epsom salts as part of my in-home pedicure process. it is very efficient at removing built up calluses without any chance of over-sloughing. this is a staple in my lotion collection and the price point is significantly better than the high priced gimmicky products which make the same claims,

    Benefit Eye Bright

eye bright??? not a pretty sight

i recently purchased this product based on an in-store make over and i REALLY want to embrace this product line because the founders (jane and jean ford) were my makeup gurus in the 80s in san francisco. i loved the way this looked upon application and purchased immediately. it was when i got home that i noticed a bleary, itchy sensation and looked in the mirror to see my eye makeup smeared beyond belief. when i looked at the product ingredients, one of the top ones was petroleum. this is the equivalent of rubbing vaseline all over your eye and then applying makeup. sadly, this one was returned.
