  • Chapstick True Shimmer

ChapStick True Shimmer ($2.99) is traditional ChapStick with pearly white glitter in it. My favorite is Tropical, it's pineapple-coconutty. A little bit too frosty for my lips. No SPF. I like the flavor, but it could use some SPF and maybe a little bit of pink to offset the frostiness. Read more reviews at Total Beauty. • Max Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper

Max Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper

    Decent for a Drugstore Mascara

The old version of Max Factor's 2000 Calorie Mascara was one of the first mascaras I ever saw in my Grandmother's bathroom. I was quite intrigued, being a 10 year-old with non-existent eye lashes. I was adopted and my Grandmother, Gammy, was a beautiful all american type lady. And she had Alopecia, a condition that causes you to lose your hair. ANYWAY, she used it and it was one of the first ones I ever used. It was thickening and the blackest black. I have fond memories of experimenting with crushed eye shadow and vaseline in her bathroom. I miss her. It's been reformulated into 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper ($ since then and I actually am not as pleased as I thought I'd be. The brush is fine, the formula is okay but I wouldn't say it fattens my lashes and really volumizes (for that I say go with L'Oreal Voluminous). It's good at separating but it seems like a regular mascara. Even with 3 coats I still craved more. Overall, not bad, but not awesome either. That being said, lots of people on Makeup Alley liked it. So you be the judge. Read more reviews at Total Beauty. • L'Oreal Paris HiP Studio Secrets Professional Kohl Eyeliner

I was curious to see what these L'Oreal HiP Kohl Eyeliners ($13) were like. I tried Navy Kohl and Gold Kohl. It is "smooth and velvety, smudge-proof, wear-proof" iridescent kohl. Things looked promising from the tube. When you pull out the felt-tip applicator, which is really just a thin black wand that you're supposed to press into your lash line, crumbs of kohl get everywhere, so I recommend doing it over a paper towel. (Don't do it sitting on your couch, watching tv, like I did.) Mm-hm... Overall the colors weren't bad, but the entire application of this product is just a mess. I don't know where they get off claiming it's "smudge- and wear-proof" because those are the only two things I guarantee will happen. Fall out is bad. And a $13 drugstore liner? No. Read more reviews at Total Beauty. Face Candy Grade: D-

  • L'Oreal Paris HiP Studio Secrets Professional Color Presso

I tried L'Oreal's HiP Color Presso Lipglosses ($13) in two color combos, 182 Trendy and 180 Swanky. Swanky was my favorite because it gives more color but Trendy makes a lovely nude lip. I like these much better than the Kohl Eye Liners. These make more sense. You can mix and match the 2 colors to make endless combos. The glosses are thick and creamy and smell like cupcakes but tend to wear off pretty quickly. For $13 that's not a lot of bang for your buck. Available in 10 color combinations.

  • Liz Earle Superskin Moisturiser
    8.0

    Liz Earle Superskin Moisturiser

Smells weird but does a good job

A rich, fragrance-free moisturizer that contains Borag Oil, Glycerin, Pomegranate Extract, Rose Hip Oil, Shea Butter and Vitamin E. I've been using this at nighttime and I love it because it doesn't make your skin feel too oily. Only a dab will do. My only problem is that it doesn't smell very good. My husband likened it to Desitin.

  • Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate

    - An aromatic blend of 100% pure plant oils. Contains aragon and rosehip oils, neroli, lavender, chamomile essential oils and Vitamin E. I LOVE this stuff. After cleansing and toning and then applying serum I pump 1-2 drops of this oil into my hands, warm it up and then massage into my face and neck. It's perfect for winter when your skin gets super dry. If I feel like I need more moisture, I use the Superskin Moisturizer on top. Face Candy Grade: A+

  • Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic

A non-drying floral tonic that contains Vitamin E, organic aloe vera, calendula, cucumber and rose-scented geranium. This is a soothing water-like tonic that revitalizes skin on contact. My only complaint would be the packaging. The twist cap causes more product to come out than necessary. I usually end up spilling it all over the place trying to get it on the cotton ball. I noticed on the website though, that it comes in a spray bottle. Face Candy Grade: B-

  • Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

An award winning, concentrated cream that quickly removes grime and makeup. The pure muslin cloths dislodges dead skin cells. I tried this, but it kind of seems like an extra hassle to be using an extra cloth. Results are normal, but I would like it more if there wasn't that extra step. Face Candy Grade: C

  • Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask

Who doesn't love Bliss? I enjoy their Fabulous Foaming Face Wash, their body products, etc. I've got to tell you about this mask. (Which is so awesome, that it rang up the most sales of ANY face mask in 2007.) The Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask ($52) claims to get your skin glowing in 5 minutes flat. Here are some of the things it does: -Oxygenates and energizes skin for maximum glow -Brightens skin tone and supports collagen maintenance -Binds moisture for soft, supple, youthful skin -Detoxifies, preventing future breakouts Using the Blue Spa's famous Triple Oxygen Treatment Facial effects, it is said to make your face fresher and younger-looking. Even Rihanna's MUA Mylah Morales uses it to hydrate her skin before an award show or after she's been traveling, which tends to dry out the skin. And she's got awesome skin, so I was willing to give it a shot! You're supposed to apply it to damp skin and leave it for 5 minutes. During those five minutes it tingles and bubbles a little bit into a silky smooth foam that you rub in and then rinse off. My skin seemed a little brighter, no longer dull and rough.

  • L'Oreal Paris Double Extend Beauty Tubes

I recently tried L'Oreal Double Extend Lash Extension Effect Mascara ($10.99.) It uses the same "tube" technology that Kiss Me Mascara does. I was definitely interested, because this one is about half the price of Kiss Me. The process is different though. First you apply the white side, the nourishing basecoat. Then you apply the red side, the ultra lengthening topcoat. It claims to be smudge proof, flake proof, clump-free and 80% longer looking lashes. I wouldn't go as far to say they look 80% longer. For some reason, I feel like applying the white coat makes the lashes seem longer. The Kiss Me formula is very thin and not very volumizing in any way. They both are awesome in that they can be removed with warm water only. So which one do I like better? This one. Half the price and provides some volume and length that Kiss Me doesn't.
