    Burt's Bees Radiance Day Creme

    Daily Radiance Lotion SPF 15

The radiance day cream SPF 15 that comes in a pump isn't listed on the site, but it's part of my daily routine, so I'll have to leave my review here! I insist on starting my make-up application with a facial sun screen, and have been through quite a few. I was disappointed by others that smelled or felt too chemically, so when I finally found this one I was pretty excited! It's light; In the summer time I use it as my only moisturizer, but in the winter when my skin struggles to maintain moisture, I apply it on top of Cetaphil. It smells lovely and I would absolutely reccomend it to a friend. I'm on my third bottle!

  • Wet n Wild Dual Pencil Sharpener

I had 3 sharpeners, but this has become the only one I want to use. The size for the pencils are perfect for my eyeliners and for larger lip crayon, and the blades seem to be be much sharper than my other two. When I sharpen I don't get any wobble or jagged edges. Part of me wishes that it came with the little case to catch the shavings, but I don't think that the sharpener could do as good of a job if it got backed up. In the the end, I think it's worth it to sharpen over a tissue or a garbage can to get utensils into their optimum condition. This is one of those products that is the cheapest on the make-up aisle, but also does the best job on the aisle! Highly recommend!

  • Jergens Extra Moisturizing Liquid Hand Wash

I love this cherry almond scented hand soap. This may sound silly, but did you ever notice how some public bathrooms (like in a nice restaurant) have the really nice, yet standard smelling soap? I'm pretty sure whatever they are using is closely related to this stuff. I adore this scent, and I feel like this soap does a good job of cleansing my hands. I don't feel that it is particularly drying or moisturizing to my skin. I also appreciate that it's not antibacterial. I spent a term in collgege doing research on the performance of antibacterial handsoap vs. non-antibacterial handsoap, and the conclusion that I came away with is that vigorous hand washing with regular soap removes the same amount of germs that antibacterial soaps kill- and regular soap is much better for the environment, and can be better for you. Since that project, this has been one of my favorite soaps! And heres a tip, sometimes I find it at winco for ninety nine cents a pump bottle! Highly recommended!

  • Revlon Age Defying Translucent Finishing Powder with Botafirm

I've loved having this compact in my purse. First and foremost the packaging has prevented the pressed powder from breaking for a very long time; I’ve been throwing this thing around in my purse now for about two years (yes, I know keeping it that long is a no-no) and its still solid as ever. I like the brush it comes with too, which I would never use for serious blending, but works great for a quick powder application. The mirror in the compact is also a great size, and I can’t count how many times I’ve used it. I use this powder sparingly, but it always does exactly what I need it to, which is either set my foundation, or tamp down some unwanted shine. It smells like make-up in an inoffensive, non-scented way, and the texture of the powder is pleasingly smooth. A little bit seems to go a long way, and this one compact has lasted me forever. I’m a W3 in L’Oreal true match and the color of powder I have is 02 medium. I like it, and the color works well for me, but I suspect a shade lighter would have worked out just a touch better for me. One thing that I really appreciate about this product is that Revlon choose to keep sparkle and shimmer out of the formula. You can a super duper fine talc in the powder, but only if you look really closely. I think that once it’s applied to the face it’s pretty much “glitter free”, but isn’t so matte that it drains you of all of your ability to reflect light- which is to say that you could still look a rather ‘luminous’ even with a generous application of this powder. I would recommend this powder to my girlfriends.

  • CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain
    8.0

    CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain

Does what it should, less than ideal packaging.

For the first several weeks after my purchase of this lipstain, I was disappointed with it. I agree that the packaging is kind of a bummer, it’s difficult to get the stain to flow properly. Each time I use it, before removing the cap, I have to shake a bit liquid down into the lid which I kind of fish out with the felt tip pen. At this point, I find this concession acceptable because I’m now convinced the stain itself is quite good, and the one pen has lasted me quite awhile; I use it 3-4 times a week and I’m now on my 5th month. The color I have is 415, which is a bit dark, but vastly preferable to the two stain shades I bought from NYC. The color girl stain color is richer, and lasts much longer. If applied to clean dry lips, and allowed sufficient dry time, some of this color will remain on my lips even after a meal. I also appreciate that the color looks more like more like make-up and less like cool-aid mouth stain (a problem I’ve had with other brands). Also, I tend to combat the vibrancy of my freshly stained lips by applying a bit of lip crayon or lipstick over dry stain- by the time the top layer has worn off, the stain had mellowed out a bit to pleasing shade. Once the felt tip pen has stain on it, it’s pretty easy to maneuver; I’ve been able to apply it within a minute while sitting in my car plenty of times (parked though, because you need to see what you’re doing with stain!). I agree with other viewers that it doesn’t smell fantastic, but it certainly doesn’t smell bad, and I am happy to sacrifice a candied scent for longevity of wear. I caution you though, when shaking liquid out of these guys, keep the lid on! And start gently-I learned the hard way that it’s easier to get lipstain out of the pen than back into the pen! I’ll be buying this product again, because for the price, it performs very well.

  • Maybelline New York Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer
    7.0

Maybelline New York Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer

Fantastic for lighter coverage or true highlighting.

I’ve got the Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in Ivory. I almost feel like highlighter and concealer shouldn’t really be together in the same product because I expect heavy coverage from a concealer and dewiness from a highlighter, but this product works out okay. It’s found its way into my carry-every-where-make-up bag which is quite the recommendation, and although it can be made to create nice results, it requires an extra five to ten minutes of make-up time on my part. I like to build it up around my eyes, which requires two or three very thin applications with drying time in between. After I’ve built up decent coverage I apply my foundation everywhere on my face except my eyelids, and the highlighter seems to improve my under eye circles and help the foundation stay put. I’ll often just leave the highlighter on my upper lids free of shadow and foundation, and use only liner and mascara- I feel like the highlighter leaves my lids fresh and bright looking. That said, I found that applying shadow over a layer of this concealer/highlighter when it’s dry works as an acceptable shadow primer. I don’t know that I will buy the product again, only because I am looking to get heavier coverage with a single application. This product does have some other attributes to recommend it though: It smells nice, just sort of clean and inoffensive. Also, it isn’t the least bit messy, the makeup is dispensed though a soft brush at one end, by twist/clicking the opposite end. I love that I can sit in a parking lot and apply this one and have no fear about it dribbling on my outfit or cars seat. You don’t have to fear about tossing it back into your bag either, the cap stays tightly secure- I’m pretty rough and tumble with my purse, but this tube has stayed completely contained. Last, I appreciate that although this is a highlighter, it doesn’t contain any obnoxious sparkle or frost.

  • Thierry Mugler Angel Eau de Toilette

Angel isn’t the kind of scent you smell on a girlfriend, fall in love with, and then put on your Christmas list. You must try this scent on and give it an adequate amount of dry down time before understanding what it will actually smell like on YOU. This perfume is more sensitive to the individual chemistry of its wearers than any I have encountered before- it seems to me that it will either smell as amazing on a person as it does in the bottle, or quickly sour on application to a scent resembling rancid fruit. Sadly, I cannot wear Angel. I’ve tried fresh bottles at department stores, and returning for another a try after a few years have passed, but no matter what I do, this perfume smells terrible on me. Which is unfortunate as Angel can be memorable and captivating scent. There is something about this fragrance that envelopes in a good way; the closest thing I can compare it to is the wafting of warm caramel off the stove- but at the same time, it really smells much more complex than something like a baking scented candle. My mother received a bottle of this when I was about 10, and I remember scouring the fragrance sections of the mall as a young teen a perfume could offer that same warm enveloping note without clashing with my chemistry. Finally, Hilary Duff’s With Love came out and while I wouldn’t say that it smells like Angel, I feel that it shares a similar note or two. With Love is also a less aggressive fragrance that I feel is more appropriate for the under 15 set than Angel (not that I don’t still enjoy WL). If you can wear Angel then I am a bit jealous of you! Not only do I imagine that you will receive compliments from men and women, but I also suspect the bottle will last you quite a while. Angel is a strong perfume, the kind where a dab seems to equal three or four sprays of the average stuff. It also seems to have incredible longevity; when my mother wore it, a single morning application would last on her until the household went to bed at night.

  • Nina Ricci Nina
    10.0

    Nina Ricci Nina

    Behold my ultimate passion!

If I could pick just one scent to wear everyday for the rest of my life, this would be it. It smells like lovely apple blossom and burnt caramel scent accented by light candied citruses and a super-clean musk. I wear it because it’s youthful, fresh, and sweet, but still has enough character to differentiate itself from the many non-descript fruity/sweet scents on the market. Nina Ricci has been a high end fashion house since the thirties, and I can absolutely smell the quality in this perfume. Nina shares a warm note with Hilary Duff’s With Love, that I can only describe as praline, but there’s a huge difference; after smelling Nina, the praline note in With Love smells synthetic and cheap. I also suspect that the higher quality ingredients in this perfume keep it smelling true with a wider variety of chemistries. I’m the kind of person who can turn many perfumes, but I’ve been able to wear Nina for several years without issue. There is one negative to Nina and it is this; it doesn’t last nearly long enough. It’s a perfume that must be reapplied at lunch time, so I highly suggest springing for the package deal and layering the scent with body wash and perfume. Several years ago they released an Eau de Parfume edition, and I have forever regretted not purchasing it. If anyone did buy that edition, I would love to know how it smelled relative to the original and if the staying power was longer. I spent six months picking out the scent I would wear on my wedding day, and after much searching decided on Nina. There was no close second. I intend to wear this as my primary fragrance until I die or they discontinue it! If you’re looking for a scent for those around you to associate you with, I could not recommend Nina more.

  • Cacharel Amor Amor Eau de Toilette

I haven't heard anyone use the adjective "soapy" to describe Amor Amor, but it is the thought I always have when I smell it. The top notes to me are almost violently soapy! I also would point out that it is one of those perfumes that smells much different on different people. For example, on my best girlfriend, it dries down to a scent that can only be described as "old lady". However, if you do have a chemistry that works well with this perfume, Amor Amor offers a unique scent; which is to say that I feel it differs from the popular fruity/sweet /praline scents (think Viva la Juicy, and With Love) that seem to be so popular with the 40 and under set.

  • Ulta Sheer Lip Liner

    Ulta Sheer Lip Liner

    Ulta Lip Crayon

There isn't a category for the Ulta Lip Crayon, but I was kind of excited and wanted to share. I bought two of these lip crayons on a lark because Ulta was having a great sale, and I found that I have enjoyed them far more than I expected to. I purchased the shades Charmer and American girl. I don't care for Charmer as much as American girl, because I feel like the crayons are a bit more matte and frosted matte doesn't do much for my lips, almost highlights little lines in them or something. But the American Girl shade I really love. It's a soft brownish summer color and it looks good on it's own, but I almost discovered that it looks pretty great over a darker plum lip stain that I have, as well as a lipstick primer. I find that a thin coating of the crayon over dry lips makes a thin application of lipstick last far longer than it would otherwise. I also love how easy the crayon is to handle in terms of a lip liner. It looks great, normally I can't handle a regular lip liner. Will buy again!!
