Here are all my reviews:
  • Burt's Bees Herbal Deodorant, with Oil of Sage

I'm always looking for products that are the least harmful for my health and for the environment. So far in terms of deodorant this is one of the better ones I've found. I love that the container is recyclable and the list of ingredients is short and sweet. Both my sister and I use it and it keeps us odor free all day - although she says she sometimes has to reapply - guess she's smellier! But I'm still looking for the perfect deodorant because of the ingredient SD Alcohol 40 that may be linked to unwanted health impacts.

  • Tom's of Maine Natural Long-Lasting Deodorant Stick

I've been using their unscented deodorant for at least seven years - I like it because it's light (it's clear and doesn't stain clothing), it works (lasts all day for me), and I like the smell (I know, it's unscented but it still has an ever so slight fragrance that I happen to like). It doesn't get top marks for me though because I really am trying to cut down on packaging and plastics and this comes in a pretty chunky plastic container that I feel guilty tossing out. Also, I have some concerns about the daily use of PROPYLENE GLYCOL on my body - which is the first ingredient and has been linked to some unwanted health impacts.

  • Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer
    8.0

    Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer

    Still my fave in 2008

After moving from environmental student to environmental professional - I thought I should upgrade my minimalist look a bit by adding a low-key version of lipstick. I think I must have about five of the Watermelon colored lip shimmers scattered around my bags, drawers, and bathroom so that they're always nearby. They're great for just a bit of color and I especially appreciate the ingredients list gets a fairly decent rating on the Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database - which seems fairly important since I'm probably licking my lips and ingesting a bit of this everyday!

  • Jason Vitamin E Creme 25,000 I.U. cream

I am on a constant search for face cream that doesn't aggravate my sensitive acne and rash prone skin. For the last two years this has been my daily savior. It's light enough for under make-up (I use mineral make-up) and doesn't leave any oily film. I also have somewhat dry combination skin and it seems to keep my skin happy for the entire day. My mom also uses it, but is still looking for something that is better for her dryer more mature skin. I do wish the ingredients scored a little better on the Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database and I'm not a huge fan of tub style creams.

  • Origins A Perfect World Intensely Hydrating Body Cream with White Tea

This cream has been a must have in our kitchen for years. It's the perfect hand and sensory reward for doing the dishes (even my husband uses it!). I really like the texture, and the cream sinks in well and doesn't leave my hands greasy. But mostly I use it because I love the smell - a little fruity, floral - just yummy to me. I'm really trying to move away from products with paraben preservatives in them - and when I last bought this one in 2008 for Mother's Day, parabens were still listed on the ingredients, but the sales person at the Origins store said that all the products would be phasing out parabens. Then this cream will really be perfect!
