  • E.L.F. Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder

I bought this because it reminded me of Nars' Orga$m/Laguna compact. While I can definitely tell a difference between Orga$m and this blush, it's minute enough that I recommend it. The blush is light enough that you can layer it for the look you desire and not look like a clown, and has enough staying power that you don't have to reapply throughout the day like some cheaper blushes (here's looking at you, Maybelline). One of my biggest pet peeves is a blush that cracks into a million bits as soon as you wear the center down to the metal. Well, I can see about a dime-sized chunk of metal on my ELF blush, and it hasn't cracked yet. I used the bronzer once, but it was a little too muddy for me. Another thing I dislike it the mirror. Like two days after I bought this, the mirror fell off; the backside revealed it was held in place with cheap two sided tape. Neither of these shortcomings are significant enough to keep me from replacing this product when I'm finished with the one I have. (Sorry for the dollar sign; the powers that be dislike the O word!)

  • Victoria's Secret Secret Garden Collection Hydrating Body Lotion

While I see where the lotion itself isn't the most deeply hydrating product, and it's a little pricier than your drugstore counterparts, I think the scent of this lotion makes up for its shortcomings. It has staying power that I wouldn't believe if I didn't experience it myself, and it layers nicely. I myself have outgrown Love Spell (EVERY girl in middle school used it, so it reminds me of adolescence), but I like Pure Seduction. Plus, you can find all of the Secret Garden products for unbelievably cheap during their semi-annual sales.

  • Givenchy 'Ange ou Démon - Le Secret' Perfume

For me, anyone who smells it tells me I smell fantastic. A guy where I used to work HATED the smell of perfume, but he told me my perfume was the one exception. I know it's silly, but I like that no one I know uses it. It makes the scent very uniquely mine.

  • Clinique Happy
    5.0

    Clinique Happy

It's not my cup of tea.

Maybe it's because my mom and grandma are avid wearers of this fragrance, but I never got on the Happy bandwagon. It's a little too simple for me; it almost smells cheap. I'll stick to my Givenchy Le Secret.

  • Suave Basics Gel
    8.0

    Suave Basics Gel

    Amazing, and a good price!

I bought a bottle of this once when I was out of town and forgot my Paul Mitchell Super Skinny gel. Not only do I not notice a difference in performance, but the Suave smells better! I definitely will save some money and stick with this. I use it when I keep my hair curly to manage frizz and keep my curls defined, and I use the tiniest dollop of it when I straighten my hair to keep my hard earned straightening efforts intact.

  • Garnier Fructis Style Sleek & Shine Leave-In Conditioning Cream

I just moved, so I had to find a new stylist. My new girl told me that the leave-in conditioner I was spending 18 dollars on didn't hold a candle to the 2 dollar Garnier Fructis. I was dubious at first, but 2 dollars isn't a lot to lose on a less effective product, so I went straight from her chair to the grocery store and picked up a bottle. She wasn't mistaken; this stuff is fantastic! When I leave my normally frizzy hair curly, it cuts down the frizz dramatically (I use a 50/50 dollop of this and Paul Mitchell gel), and when I decide to straighten my hair, I add a dime sized dollop in conjunction with my heat protectant to lessen the chance of heat damage. I'm so glad my stylist recommended this!

  • Maybelline New York Fit Me! Foundation

I had been using Revlon Color Stay, but I felt like I was wearing a mask. This one is much cheaper and delivers almost the exact same level of coverage without the heaviness. It was kinda hard at first to find the right shade for me (I'm kinda pale, but with very olive undertones), but now that I've gotten some sun, 125 works for me. I have noticed that it rubs off a little too easily, but I try not to touch my face anyway. I do think that foundations like this are a good sign that cosmetics companies have listened to our cry for the coverage of a pan stick, with the fluidity of a tinted moisturizer, and they're trying to formulate something that meets there criteria.

  • Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Redness Soothing Facial Cleanser

I am a big fan of Neutrogena to begin with, so I walked into my relationship with this cleanser with high hopes. I haven't been let down so far. It smells amazing, leaves my skin oil-free, and it has cleared up my skin immensely. It's day 3 of my delightful pms, and there is not an embarrassing bump to be seen! So what if I'm the size of a house and I keep yelling at my boyfriend! MY SKIN IS SO SMOOTH! :) Seriously, though. I'm incredibly happy with this product. I am also a fan of the grapefruit cleanser, but I decided to look for an alternative because the strong citrus fragrance was irritating my eyes. I don't think it's watery, either. It lathers just fine for me. I wash my hands before I wash my face, though, so that the product isn't trying to work past the natural oils on my hands.

  • Joico K-Pak Conditioner
    9.0

    Joico K-Pak Conditioner

    A trusted friend. :)

I was warned when I started asking about this conditioner that too much protein is a bad thing, so I only use it every other day. Because of this, my once-straw-like hair is shiny and not the nightmare I used to experience. I know this sounds weird, but when my hair is looking kinda rough, I wet my hands VERY lightly and pump the tiniest dot possible onto my hands, then smooth it over any frizz. I was always taught that water on frizzy hair was counter-intuitive, but this minuscule amount of water helps dilute the product.

  • John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Luminous Color Glaze

On one hand, when I used this product regularly, people asked me if I'd dyed my hair, and a coworker told me my hair looked so shiny. On the other hand, it dyed my hands so badly, the only thing that would remedy it was a vigorous scrape with my pumice stone (which it also stained!). This product should come with gloves and a warning!
