  • Certain Dri Regular Roll-On

As the resident pit-stain guy in the office, I was desperate to find a solution to my excessive underarm perspiration. Whether it was being asked to get something from the top shelf -- or the never-ending requests to do the "field goal" signal -- my coworkers shared many a laugh at chatchi's expense. While it is not uncommon to have perspiration rings under the arms of your shirt, it IS uncommon to have those rings bleed down to your belt. Doctor's call it Axillary Hyperhidrosis -- chatchi calls it "Swamp Pits". My perspiration was becoming so unmanageable, I would wear four (4) undershirts to prevent the stains from bleeding through to my dress shirts. The idea worked, but the extra layers only caused chatchi to sweat even more. The average adult perspires a little more than one quart of fluid per day. chatchi perspired more than SEVEN quarts of fluid per day. After failing numerous job interviews, and scaring away an immeasurable amount of potential romantic companions because of my mind-boggling sweat production, it was time for me to get help. My search ended with Certain Dri. This remarkable, non-prescription product is applied to the underarm area before you go to bed. While the concept might seem unusual, you wouldn't be reading this review unless you were used to going to unusual lengths to prevent underarm perspiration. Certain Dri is applied in place of your regular anti-perspirant/deodorant, but I'd advise still using a scented deodorant every day, since Certain Dri does a less than adequate job of masking the stench. The first time you use the product, don't be surprised if you experience a slight irritation to the underarms (comparable to bathing in gasoline, then setting yourself on fire) -- that's the 12% aluminum chloride going to work. Don't worry, the irritation will go away after a couple of days. The roll-on applicator is less than desirable -- ripping out armpit hairs during application -- but I suppose it's better than those nasty aerosol brands. Just how good is Certain Dri? Well, the directions say that, when used "sparingly", Certain Dri can prevent perspiration for up to 84 hours after application. I've found that I can literally go weeks without applying Certain Dri, and my pits remain dry as a desert. My confidence has been restored in interviews, and women are no longer turned off by extreme underarm moisture. Thanks to Certain Dri, chatchi had the last laugh.

  • Certain Dri Certain Dry Solid

I know the general consensus seems to be that the roll-on version of Certain Dri is better, but those of us with sensitive skin that is prone to irritation can't really rely on such an option. Luckily, the solid version has been working great for me. I get absolutely no irritation or any unpleasant side effects really. The solid DOES work as well as the roll-on, but it depends on the person and it takes a while longer before your excess perspiration gets under control. When I started using this stuff I used the higher end of the suggested number of swipes: 6. And even then, I noticed only a slight change for the better for the next few days. However, after about a week there was a drastic change and at about 2 weeks of nightly use, I am totally dry under my arms - all day, every day, under all circumstances. I've dropped down to only 4 swipes per arm, but still every night and I no longer have to worry about feeling uncomfortable with excess perspiration. I also use an additional anti-perspirant/deodorant (Old Spice Sweat Defense) in the morning after showering and the combined effect of the two keeps my underarms dry and smelling great. So I'd say definitely give Certain Dri Solid a trial run if you have sensitive skin or have had to stop using the roll-on version - and stick with it for at least 2-3 weeks before deciding it doesn't work for you. Well after using this product for so long I must say it has held up quite well. I now do 4 swipes per underarm each night because I find that that controls my perspiration the best. This product really is a savior for those of us with excessive underarm sweat. Roughly 4 months and Certain Dri solid stick has betrayed me. After working quite well for roughly 5-6 months, its effectiveness against my excess sweating has worn off and it has gotten to the point that I may as well not even put it on anymore. For this reason, I've docked 1 star from my previous rating. The solid may still work well for people who have a much less severe issue with excessive perspiration. I've done what most people seem to suggest and went and purchased the roll-on version despite my hesitation due to my sensitive skin. I'm happy to report: so far so good. I've only been using the roll-on for 2 nights but I'm noticing it's already working much better than the solid ever did. If you have similar hesitations about trying the roll-on like me, I can't stress this more: READ THE DIRECTIONS AND FOLLOW THEM CAREFULLY. So many people who have written about irritation and rashes fail to follow the directions and apply the roll-on after bathing or shaving their armpits, which will sting like a hornets' nest under your arm. My current regimen is to put on Certain Dri roll-on at bedtime (as instructed) and regular Old Spice deodorant (not antiperspirant, so as to save my white shirts from yellow aluminum stains) in the morning after showering. I only hope that the roll-on holds up for the long run. Well after almost a month of using Certain Dri Roll-On I must say I'm very happy with the results. The roll-on has been far more effective than the stick and I've experienced none of the negative side effects some people have. I hardly sweat anymore, even when working out at the gym. It took about a week and a half to two weeks before I saw a dramatic reduction in my under arm perspiration. I still apply it every night but when I feel fully comfortable with it I might experiment with every other night, etc. I wrote an in-depth review of the roll-on and it is posted under that product page. Very happy that I've found something that finally works.

  • Secret Clinical Strength Sensitive Skin

I was a perfect candidate to try this deodorant out as I have a condition called hyperhidrosis...which means I sweat entirely too much for no apparent reason. I have been using a prescription anti-perspirant called Drysol for many years off and on, and it works perfectly...but I have health concerns with it for long-term use, so I am always on the prowl for new over-the-counter products to keep me feeling dry. First, a little FYI on how deodorant/anti-perspirants work. Anti-perspirants use aluminum in various forms to essentially "clog" your pores & sweat glands in various parts of the body (typically the armpits)...thus reducing the accumulation of sweat on the outside of your skin, it gets trapped inside your body. A lot of researchers out there say this is bad and it leads to all sorts of cancers, even breast cancer...my main reason for not wanting to continue using the Drysol for extended periods of time. Anyways, back to this Secret so-called Clinical Strength stuff. Having used a prescription strength anti-perspirant, this stuff doesn't even come close to it. You are supposed to apply both at night when you sweat the least and give it time to "activate", which again is a fancy term for clogging your pores/sweat glands. The bottom line, I found no wetness relief using this stuff for about 2 weeks. I also found that I smelled like a homeless person at the end of the day and that is not typical for me. Yes I sweat a lot, but it doesn't have a smell to it typically...yet somehow I reeked after using this stuff. I do admit I find it odd it didn't work because Drysol contains 20% aluminum chloride and this stuff contains 20% aluminum zirconium trichlorohydrex GLY...just goes to show you that the different forms of aluminum used aren't all the same. Oh, and BTW...this isn't a solid Secret!! It's some type of squishy white substance that protrudes through slits in the top of the container when you twist the bottom. It doesn't absorb quickly into the skin and leaves a yucky slimy feeling, in my opinion, for a few minutes after application. I think the smell of the stuff itself is rather wonderful and womanly, yet the after-effect-homeless-person-who-hasn't-bathed-in-a-year is not so nice and therefore I threw it in the trash.

  • Pristine Beauty Take A Whiff! Natural Deodorant

It's great!!! It uses 100% natural and organic ingredients, with 2 pro-biotics and no aluminum which is the only thing that will stop sweating (which we don't want to eliminate sweat anyway because it rids toxins from the body). They cannot guarentee if a natural product will work or not of everyone because natural products work with every persons body chemistry differntly. That said, I bought my deodorant off the website at first. It was shipped in the cutest packaging and they gave a card called a "Pit Pointer" for hot days. I have yet to have to use this tip because the deodorant works on me. It works so well on me that I have turned friends on to it and they love it too. I decided to see where else they sell and they happen to be at a Whole Foods in my area. I get it 5 buck cheaper and it has lasted me so long. I think I bought it 6 months or more ago and it is no where near gone. I like it and think its worth the money considering the pure ingredients and lasts forever.

  • Chanel Allure Parfum Spray

Allure is the best of the Chanel line, topping the sensuality of Chanel #5 and the sweet floral fragrance of Chanel #22. The spicy scent lingers all day long without being overpowering. If you like Chanel #5 and #22, you'll love Allure. It's my favorite because you get the best of both all in one - the spiciness and the sweetness.

  • Origins Peace of Mind On-the-spot Relief

Beauty sleep is not just some outdated saying. A good night's rest is vital for beautiful, healthy skin. A night of deep rest lets our skin restore and heal itself. It brings the skin back into its natural balance and our skin's essential oils are produced. Night is also a good opportunity for some skin products to work their magic. Often prescription medications like Retin-A do not work in sunlight or the daytime. We've all suffered a poor night's sleep and have woken up to see the results written on our face. Puffy eyes, dark circles or a new blemish are just a few. For many of us, our lives are filled with stress and busy schedules and getting a good night's sleep isn't that easy. Personally I find the use of aromatherapies at night really helps me sleep. It creates a routine I can follow and a trigger that sets my mind to sleep and relaxation mode. I love Origins Peace of Mind. I dab a little on my ears and under my nose before bed. The bottle is tiny and I keep it right next to my bedside lamp. The immediate scent of basil, peppermint and eucalyptus signals my brain that its time for sleep. You would be surprised how far a little bit of aromatherapy will go in your day.

  • Victoria's Secret Dream Angels Divine Eau de Parfum Spray

It smells pretty similar to Beyonce's Pulse. I guess I could sense the vanilla in both fragrances. I think the scent is a little bit stronger than Pulse, though. My mom has been wearing this fragrance and she tells me that she gets compliments from people. I'm not completely in love with it, but it smells pleasant. I generally go for fruity/floral perfumes rather than musky, powdery ones. It's alot better than Dream Angels Desire, definitely.

  • Benefit Maybe Baby Eau de Toilette

I love love LOVE this perfume! I don't know how to describe it since everyone has their own preferences, but it is a nice light scent. I have had some perfumes react with my skin before only to smell like something completely different. This one did not do that & it stays on great.

  • Mary Kay Bella Belara Eau de Parfum

I get lots of compliments when I wear Bella Belara, due to its light, pleasant fragrance that doesn't assault the senses. However, it is a little pricey. I can find perfumes and body sprays that I like just as well for less money. However, at least a little bit of Bella goes a long way, so a bottle lasts a while.

  • Bath & Body Works Signature Collection Eau de Toilette Warm Vanilla Sugar

WARM VANILLA SUGAR...MMM...this is a 5 star bakery in a bottle!! Amazing smell, not too sweet and not strong. Just the right amount of vanilla.."butter"..and warmed sugar. Many vanilla scents start great then dull to reveal the alcohol base. Or they smell like cheap vanilla cigars. Just a nightmare for a vanilla lover like myself. But, this is sensual, lasting and very much a woman in a bottle!!!
