    Benefit ooh la lift

If you have $20 burning a hole in your pocket...

Lift? Absolutely not. Not sure what the purpose for this product is but as far as I can see it's zilch. Why does Benefit do this? I love this brand but they often come out with these seemingly purpose-less products that add extra steps to your routine (and lots of extra dollars out of your pocket) and have no pay-off. Boo.

  • Sally Hansen French Manicure White Tip Pen Fine Tip

Seems like it'd be great, in theory, but not so much. It does seem like it's inspired by the common middle school practice of painting a "french manicure" on your nails with white-out. The problem with this product is that you have to press down (pretty firmly, I might add) with the tip to dispense the product and this is really really hard to do with your non-dominant hand. The formula comes out watery and dries pretty streaky and unevenly as well. Save your money on this one; those little tapes still seem like the best way to go (though I'll still be looking for that miracle solution!)

  • It's A 10 Miracle Daily Conditioner

    It's A 10 Miracle Daily Conditioner

    More like a 5 instead of a 10

I tried this after my hairstylist used the spray on my hair at my last appointment and I loved the way it made my hair feel (soft, unbelievably shiny, healthy). I figured the conditioner would be just as great, but it really hasn't lived up to my expectations. It detangles well, it makes my hair soft but there is not the "wow" factor that the spray had. It works similarly to the Terax Crema conditioner (and is similarly expensive) which also just hasn't been the miracle product for me that it seems to be for everyone else. Oh well, live and learn and try another product!

  • Herbal Essences Drama Clean Refreshing Shampoo

I tried this as a "clarifying" shampoo to get all the product build-up off of my hair and scalp since I only wash my hair 3 times a week and blow it out. Despite being called "drama clean" it doesn't really seem to leave my hair all that clean. Soft, and smelling good, yes, but really clean? Not so much. I'll stick with Neutrogena or Suave clarifying shampoos for now.

  • Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow
    9.0

    Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow

    No difference from original shadow

I do not understand this product. Urban Decay shadows are already deluxe in my opinion; richly pigmented, true color payoff, crease-proof. So why the separate, teensy collection of "deluxe" eyeshadows with seemingly the only difference being the artsy packaging? I just don't get it. I bought this in the "toasted" shade because it is a shade I normally use in the "regular" category of UD shadows, but they were out of the regular tin at Ulta so I bought the "deluxe" shade for 2 bucks more. And got the exact same shadow in a separate container with a fancy lid. Huh???

  • Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle Deeeeep Conditioner

I tried this deep conditioner a looong time ago; maybe it's time to give it another shot. I wasn't all that impressed with it when I tried it back then, but due to all the reviews I am thinking about giving it a second chance. When I tried it I liked that it was relatively lightweight and detangled my hair well making it smooth and soft, but there really was no "wow" factor. Maybe I'm expecting a lot from a budget brand but I'd rather spend a little more for something that really delivers.

  • Motions Foaming Wrap Lotion

    Motions Foaming Wrap Lotion

Supposedly a cult favorite...but didn't work for me

I tried this on my curly hair (which I regularly straighten) after reading an article that touted this as a "secret" standby of hairstylists to achieve really good, smooth, not weighed down blowouts. I think maybe my somewhat fine textured hair just isn't right for this product. I think it would be good for those with coarse, curly hair but even then there are products that will help to achieve straightness but also provide the much-needed moisture and shine that curly girls need. I would skip this unless, you too, are absolutely intrigued and must try for yourselves. Then, by all means, at about $4 a pop, go for it!

  • Prescriptives Flawless Skin Total Protection Makeup SPF 15

Love love love Prescriptives facial cosmetics. I have been using their foundation on-and-off (it's expensive so I switch it out with my Revlon Colorstay for dry skin) since I was a teenager. They have every shade under the sun including my hard-to-match-exactly-right fair skin with olive undertones. I love the sheer coverage that feels super light but still evens out your skin tone, the texture, the feel, the flawless look, even the smell (slightly citrusy)! This is a great, basic foundation and if it were just a teensy bit more affordable I'd use it every day.

    Benefit You Rebel Lite

    Clogs my pores

I like the coverage of this tinted moisturizer and the feel but my skin just does not react well to it at all; it clogs my pores in a major way and my skin is left looking dry, cakey, and uneven. I wanted to like it, but my standby tinted moisturizer is still Laura Mercier's.

  • Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes - Hydrating

I like these as much as I could be a fan of makeup removing wipes. I just don't really understand the use for them; if you're going to take your makeup off, you would usually be washing your face so it makes more sense to use a makeup removing cleanser that you can also use to take your eye makeup off, such as Neutrogena's Fresh Foaming Cleanser. It saves time and uses less waste and doesn't dry out your skin like these wipes can. I have used these at night a few times when I am too lazy to wash my face to at least get it somewhat clean before my head hits the pillow; but that's really their only use IMO.
