L'Occitane Shea Butter Lip Balm Stick

Too expensive for a lip balm

It does moisturize the lips really well and keeps them soft but $10 for a lip balm is just way too much, in my opinion. I has a slight, medicine-like taste but it isn't too bad.

  • L'Oreal Paris HiP Studio Secrets Professional Concentrated Shadow Duos

I'm not really into drugstore eyeshadows but my co-worker kept on raving about this, saying it's as pigmented as MAC but cheaper, so I gave it a try. Doesn't compare at all to MAC or other high end eye shadows as far as pigments and longevity is concerned. The intensity is at best average and so is staying power. It looks a lot more pigmented in the container than it does on my eyes. Using a primer underneath (such as UDPP) does help a bit in longevity and intensity but even with that it's just so-so. Also, the colors are so ridiculous that it's unwearable for day time. It's also very hard to blend w/ a brush and I had to use my fingers to blend it in good. Oh, forget about using the brush that comes with this. It's absolutely useless. Get a good eye shadow brush instead. Sure it's a lot cheaper than more expensive eye shadows but don't expect it to perform as good as one. So my opinion...if you're used to wearing MAC or other highly pigmented shadows, you might be disappointed with this.

  • Burt's Bees Lip Gloss

I don't know why this is called a lip gloss because it doesn't have as much "gloss" to it as you would otherwise expect from a lip gloss. A lip balm would've been a more accurate description as it has the feel, consistency as well as sheen, which is not that shiny at all. It even looks like a regular lip balm in the container. I have the Cherry flavored one and I just love the fruity taste. Can't really say it taste like cherries though but it definitely tastes fruity. I like the fact it's got natural ingredients in it (according to the ingredients list on the box). I'm on my third one of this product and I use this regularly at night before going to bed to keep my lips moist, supple and moisturized which it does very well, I might add. On the lips, it feels slightly greasier and more slick than Chapstick and slightly shinier but not by much. It lasts pretty long on the lips and it definitely helps keep my lips from drying and cracking. I very occasionally use this on top of my lipstain to give my lips a little moisture but I'm not too fond of using my fingers to apply these types of screw-cap products when I'm out and about. I'd much rather use something that comes in a tube for that. The glass jar the product comes in is cute and useful. When the product runs out, I save the jars to put my home made tinted lip balm in as well as other things I want to make myself.

    Fusion Beauty LipFusion XL

    Didn't see a difference

This was one of those products I tried on a whim just for the heck of it and I can't say I'm impressed. First I'd like to say I have full top and bottom lips to begin with. I just wanted to see if this product was going to improve upon the fullness I already have. Well, it didn't. And yes, I used it as directed. I used it daily for almost 4 months and I haven't seen any plumping to this day. The tingle I feel upon application sort of fools me into thinking it's plumping it up. Of course, it wasn't. I'm not saying this is a totally bad product. It's actually quite decent as a lip gloss alone but if you have very thin lips to begin with, don't expect to just magically have a full pout by using it. At best, it's a nice lip gloss that hydrates and moisturizes and fills in the fine lines and grooves on the lips, giving the appearance of smoothness. However...there are other lip products that can accomplish the same thing for far cheaper. At the very worst, it's a VERY expensive, glorified lip gloss/plumper that doesn't work. If this product was much cheaper, I would probably use it just as a lip gloss. As I said, it's not a bad product and it's actually OK as a gloss alone. As far as plumping my lips, forget it.

  • CARGO OneBase

    CARGO OneBase

    Very good concealer

I like to use this when I want to cover up an occasional redness from a breakout. I actually prefer this over MAC's Studio Finish concealer only because it doesn't cake up like MAC's does although the coverage isn't as good as the Studio Finish. I would describe the coverage as light to medium so if you're wanting a heavier concealer, you might want to look elsewhere. It's best for spot treatment and small areas of discoloration. The consistency is pretty liquid and I usually wait a few seconds for it to slightly dry up before blending it, otherwise I only get a thin coverage. Length of wear is good, provided it's worn over a makeup base. Price is justified for it's performance.

  • Burt's Bees Super Shiny Lip Gloss

Burt's Bees Super Shiny Lip Gloss

Lives up to it's shiny claim

I have Nectar Nude and this gloss IS very shiny. A bit on the tacky side but not bad at all. Definitely less stickier than my NARS lip gloss in Babe. The shine as well as color doesn't last very long. About 30 minutes on my lips w/out eating nor drinking anything but still leaves the lips feeling soft and smooth. The only thing I don't like about this lip gloss is the container, which makes application imprecise. I have to spread the product around with either my fingers or a lip brush to get an even coat.

  • Nars Lip Gloss/ Lip Stain Gloss
    6.0

Nars Lip Gloss/ Lip Stain Gloss

Ok but color is pretty heavy and opaque

When I think of stains, I think of Benetint, Stainiac or Vincent Longo. I wouldn't really call this a stain. It's more like a very heavy, highly pigmented lip gloss. In "heavy", I mean colorwise, not necessarily consistency. I got the colors Turkish Delight/Sayonara. On me, the color combo looks like a dark rose with a hint of brown. Not bad but not really my type. It's extremely easy to get too much of the product on your lips using the applicator that comes with it. I had to put a small dot in the middle of my lower lips and blend with my fingers in order for it not to look unnatural, garish and cakey. The "gloss" part of this combo feels a bit goopy and sticky. I'd rather wear just the color or "stain" and top it off with a clear lip balm or even chapstick. The color doesn't last long on me at all. I would say about 30-40 min. and that's without eating or drinking anything during that time. For a stain, it just doesn't quite cut it as it doesn't really 'stain" the lips like a real stain would. Instead, it sits on top of the lips as opposed to "sinking" into the lips. For a lipgloss, it's pretty good, especially if you're into glosses with a lot of pigmentation. But for me, I prefer a gloss with a semi sheer to sheer finish instead of an opaque or matte finish. In addition, for $28, it's a bit too expensive for what it advertises.

  • Cover FX Powder FX Mineral Powder Foundation
    10.0

Cover FX Powder FX Mineral Powder Foundation

Excellent coverage for redness and blotchy pigmentation

I don't normally wear foundation but when my dermatologist prescribed Tazorac for my face, it caused a lot of peeling and blotchy redness. I went to my local Sephora and the saleswoman suggested I try the Cover FX Mineral Powder Foundation in M60 for my condition. All I can say is wow, what great coverage! I use a powder brush to apply the product and all it takes is one swipe and all the redness is gone. The big plus is my face doesn't look caked up or otherwise overdone. It just makes it look like I have perfect, flawless complexion. If worn by itself, it lasts about half a day. If worn on top of sunscreen or foundation primer, it lasts all day. It's non oily, non shiny and non greasy. I wear this product over my Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Sunscreen and it doesn't budge. Very light and easy to blend and has a matte finish. My face doesn't feel like it's suffocating under heavy makeup. What I really like about it is I can take a concealer brush and apply the powder just on my problem areas and it virtually erases the imperfection. Perfect for people with blotchy pigmentation or a lot of redness! I will definitely repurchase again.

  • Urban Decay Matte Eyeshadow

I love the matte version of Urban Decay's eye shadows. The texture is so silky, smooth, not chalky like some matte eye shadows can get and easy to blend. On my somewhat oily lids, the eyeshadow lasted about 6-7 hours without creasing. I have Illegal, Shakedown and Chronic and the color pay-off is excellent. It still comes in the same token packaging, just slightly different in color but the product itself is still the same size as their glittery-shimmery version.

  • Nars Cream Eyeshadow

    Nars Cream Eyeshadow

Color didn't last as long on my lids as I would like

I got this in "Granada" and the color intensity didn't last as long even with UDPP on! I gave it 8 stars only because the color selection is good and the texture and blend-ability is good but for the price, I 've experienced longer lasting ones. I also want to add that when applying eyeliner on top of this shadow, the eyeliner would not stay on and it would smudge.
