White Sands Curl Up In Silk Medium Mousse

    Good product, leaves no buildup.

Since I’m not a big mousse user (Love to eat chocolate mousse, but I just don’t use it in my hair…I digress…) I handed the White Sand’s Curl Up in Silk Texture Defining Volumizing Mousse (that’s a mouthful) to the Bionic Hubby (BH) to test. Overall he said it was a good product (he’s a daily mousse user). He wasn’t too keen for the fruity smell, but most guys aren’t. But when pressed he admitted that the White Sands’ scent was a whole ton better than Garnier Fructis’ mousse (which he pitched in the garbage can 2 days after I bought it for him!). BH also thought it worked more like a foaming gel rather than a full-on extra frothy mousse. On the HUGE plus side, it left absolutely NO product buildup or residue and washed easily from his hair after the day was done.

  • White Sands Phase 1 Nourishing Shampoo Blondes & Brunettes

White Sands Phase 1 Nourishing Shampoo Blondes & Brunettes

Nice sudsing, super gentle, not stripping. Nice product!

Shampoos and Conditioners are some of my favorite products to test. I love picking up new brands, especially ones that are lesser-known and more independent. I guess it’s the uniqueness. I’ve been testing a whole range of White Sands’ professional hair care products lately and really enjoyed their Phase One Nourishing Shampoo and Phase One Corrective Conditioner. Both of these products are specifically designed for colored hair with the perfect pH of 4point6 making your color last longer, helping to prevent fade, and locking color into the hair cuticle. The Phase One shampoo and conditioner also contain White Sand’s own “Clear Micro Shield” to seal hair and add shine. Additionally, there’s the fancy-schmancy Heliogenol: “an herbal extract that protects tinted hair from color loss by neutralizing the oxidative radicals generated by daily UV exposure and slowing down the oxidation of hair dyes”. Basically, it’s a fantastic combo of products if you color your hair. I was battling this summer trying to keep my brunette hair from fading in the Florida sun (I’m a natural dark blonde/light brown but dyed my hair dark red brown). The Phase One products really helped put the halt on fading and color wash out.

Great conditioner, gentle on colored hair. Scent is a little 'floral'.

  • Thermaclear Acne Therapy System

    Thermaclear Acne Therapy System

Not too painful, good for clearing up existing acne, but doesn't prevent breakouts. Expensive.

Heat treatment for pimples, abscesses and cysts is nothing new, bu the Thermaclear device brings it to a focused “head” specifically for acne. I tried the Thermaclear for 30 days and found it helpful in healing my light acne. With healing results quicker than without treatment. Basically you activate the Thermaclear, wait a few seconds for it to heat up (it beeps when it’s ready), then hold it against your pimple, and press the button. Zap. At first treatment, its a bit shocking, but is nothing more than a mild twinge. I started on the low setting to prepare myself and after the first treatment was up to the high setting. Due to cost, if you have a few pimples occasionally, the Thermaclear may not be worth the money. But if you break out on a regular cycle, this could be a perfect investment ‘wardrobe piece’ for your face. Who should use Thermaclear? Here are some details on the acne types recommended for treatment with the Thermaclear: ThermaClear uses a short pulse of heat for the treatment of pimples in people with mild to moderate inflammatory acne. ThermaClear should NOT be used by people with severe nodular or severe cystic acne. ThermaClear should also not be used on whiteheads and blackheads. My comparison to Zeno: The Thermaclear is larger in size, but in proportion, the treatment tip covers a larger area. The Zeno has one setting level, and the Thermaclear has two. Thermaclear tips last longer and cost a bit less for replacement. A Zeno with a 60 count treatment tip is $150 and replacement tips start at $25 (good for 60 treatments). The ThermaClear Heat Enabled Acne TreatmentThermaclear acne skincare device runs $149.95 and replacement tips are $19.95 (replace your treatment tip 1-2 times per year).

  • Physicians Formula Organic Wear Tinted Moisturizer

Physicians Formula Organic Wear Tinted Moisturizer

Lovely coverage, not truly natural. Performs & wears well!

After many hours of searching my local stores and coming up short, I finally found the clerks at my local drugstore opening boxes of Physician’s Formula Organic Wear! I sat right next to them and bounced on my toes. I swear they thought I was bonkers for being so excited about some new retail makeup coming in. After waiting for them to unbox, I found they had bonus packs with a tube of Tinted Moisturizer and the Organic Mineral Veil for $14.99. Score One for Bionic Beauty!! I picked up the Light to Natural color Tinted Moisturizer (TM from here on out…), due to Nenette’s recommendation that shades run a bit light. As soon as I got home, I washed my face and whipped out a fresh foundation sponge. I shook the tube, and shook again to make sure it was blended. The TM makeup does have a scent, but I quite like it. It’s a trace of tea tree, citrus, and something else “clean”, possibly a bit of herb (basil?). Anyhow, if you do shake it up, it should apply nicely. I adore the coverage this makeup gives, and it does last through the day. SPF 15 helps protect your skin from sun damage. Here’s my sole dislike - after using my cell phone about half way through the day, I wound up with some of the makeup on my phone’s screen. Kinda icky. And it does contain Talc, so if you are allergic, I would beware. With my overly hyper-sensitive I had no reactions, dryness, or itching. Big Green Bonuses: Free of parabens, Free of synthetic preservatives, No harsh chemicals, Fully recyclable (and made from recycled material) packaging, No animal testing, EcoCert certified. I’ll certainly be a buyer again.

    Noevir NHS Foaming Cleanser

Perfect scent, light, great feel, very concentrated!

This was my favorite product out of all of them. Pleasant, light scent and super concentrated. Use only a little! I’d recommend the Noevir NHS regimen for people with normal skin, at any age. However due to the costly nature of these products, I don't think they are necessary for younger gals. It is 120 dollars for the entire NHS skin care set (4 step process).

    Noevir NHS Deep Cleansing Cream

Great for makeup removal, not too affordable

Feels like lotion in viscosity. It glides on nicely and does a grand job at makeup removal. I used this in the evening after a day of makeup. I’d recommend the Noevir NHS regimen for people with normal skin, at any age. However due to the costly nature of these products, I don't think they are necessary for younger gals. It is 120 dollars for the entire NHS skin care set (4 step process).

  • Noevir Protecting Skin Cream

    Noevir Protecting Skin Cream

    Fantastic extra moisture, bit costly

Rich cream, super moisture content. Applied and spread evenly. I especially liked using this on any dry patches and around my eyes before bed. The Noevir 99 skin care line would be helpful for those over 35 years since it packs a punch with moisture! However, like I said, price is certainly an issue. To get the entire Noevir 99 set, it will cost you around two hundred bucks. My rating would be higher if it was more affordable.

    Noevir 99 Refreshing Balancing Lotion

Good for over middle age, but cost is an issue

This was my second favorite product out of the Noevir 99 set (I tried the whole line). I really loved this toner! Non-drying and calming to the skin. No stinging or irritation. Loved the scent! However, like I said, price is certainly an issue. To get the entire Noevir 99 set, it will cost you around two hundred bucks. My rating would be higher if it was more affordable.
