    Your Best Face Control

    Evened my skin, very concentrated

Control - Rejuvenating wrinkle management antioxidant protection, sun damage & correction, age control. This little gem helps reverse all those pesky things that happen when we age; plus those icky things we did to our skin when we were younger (like not wearing spf?). Control is hardly scented and is a yellow-ish thick serum. It spreads across the skin easily. A dot of product is pea-sized and works for my entire face and part of my neck. Control is a bit hydrating (but not enough on its own) and really seemed to make my skin luminous after about 4 weeks of treatment. Overall my dry and oily patches were much more even and normal. I didn’t have “desert zones” and “rainforest zones” on my face.

me by Mezhgan Look at Me Volumizing Mascara

    Amazing length! No smudging either!

My Bionic Beauties know that I have one favorite mascara in my life. I never thought I’d find another to compare, but it’s finally happened. Crazy, right? Are pigs flying? Me by Mezhgan’s “Look at Me” volumizing mascara is one of the new fangled mascara’s that forms ‘tubes’ around your lashes. I didn’t believe the hype for the longest time. In fact, I’ve tried quite a few that were just, ho hum. Look at Me is awesome! It did everything right. My lashes are longer, fully defined, no clumping, no flaking or smudging even if I wear it to work out. At night, the little tubes just slip right off your lashes. No longer do you have to scrub-a-dub-dub to remove your mascara!

  • E.L.F. Duo Eye Shadow Cream

    E.L.F. Duo Eye Shadow Cream

    Affordable, fun, bright colors!

affordable, fun ways to expand your eyelid’s wardrobe. Available in 6 compacts with coordinating colors (Butter Pecan, Olive, Mocha Swirl, Berry Mix, Blueberry and Black Licorice). I picked up the Black Licorice and Blueberry (I’m happy to report blue shadows no longer frighten me!). Each has a dark, glimmery, saturated color and a shimmer highlight color. Application was the easiest for me with a Taklon (artificial bristle brush) or my finger. In my testing these shadows wore medium-well, but never did truly “set”. If I wanted long wear, I lightly dusted a similar color of powder shadow over top. The darker colors are also great for to line your eyes, and the lighter shadow is nice for an entire lid application. Color payoff is incredible with it being easy to get loads of color on your eyes. The Black Licorice compact is exceptionally handy for creating smoky eyes. I’ve also kept it in my purse and can quickly jazz up my eyes if I’m headed out for the night. Virtually mistake proof, I can easily wipe away any “oops”. The Blueberry is not a bright 80’s blue, but rather a subtle navy that can appear as a gun-metal gray on some skin tones. If you like cream shadows (I’m addicted) or want to add some new color options, I’d recommend spending a few dollars on these. And why not, for six dollars, you could have the whole collection!

    Aveda Hand Relief

Very moisturizing, great for more than hands!

Come winter time, I'm consistently on the hunt for a creamy hand lotion to prevent chapped, cracked winter hands. During this annual hunt, I picked up Aveda's Hand Relief. This super creamy lotion quickly moisturized my damaged hands. As a bonus it healed and prevented my hang nails, seemed to improve the health of my nails, and really reduced the rough spots on my elbows. I only applied it while at home since it is a bit greasy for about 3 minutes after application. It's lightly scented so that shouldn't be an issue with users. After a week's use, my hand skin was much improved! I even carry a small tin of this in my purse for when I need "emergency" moisture. You only need a pea size amount for your hands. It will definitely last me a long time!

  • Crabtree & Evelyn Aromatherapy Distillations Revitalizing -Conditioning Body Lotion

Crabtree & Evelyn body and skin care items have a cult following. Since I had never tried the line, I picked up a bottle of their new "Aromatherapy Distillations Conditioning Body Lotion". This lotion is lovely on the skin! I used it on my arms, hands, and legs. It worked wonders on my dry elbows and knees; even though the lotion is actually very light. The scent is pleasant- clean and herbal. Since it contains lemon and coriander essential oils, it was a refreshing lotion to use after my shower each morning. I know it's a short review, so feel free to ask any questions in the comments. While it's a fab body lotion, I'm not sure I would repurchase due to the price, I feel a bit guilty slathering it daily over my body.

  • Aveda Clove Shampoo

    Aveda Clove Shampoo

Left my hair frizzy & stripped

I have to admit, I was a bit stemmied by a "Vintage 1978 Shampoo" that I received from Total Beauty and Aveda. Vintage shampoo? Huh? But I've ALWAYS wanted to try some Aveda products, so I happily bounded off to the shower to have a test wash. The bottle itself is cute and kitschy, with obvious graphics to induce memories of the 70's era. I also love that Aveda products are manufactured with 100% wind energy. How grand is that?!?! Love it. On to the shampoo itself. The Clove shampoo is made to enhance darker blondes and medium to light brunette hair by coating the cuticle with shine and using ingredients to enhance your natural highlights. I noticed incredible shine after one use. Amazing shine! But I also had incredible frizz... boo. I think this shampoo might work well for fine-haired gals like me if we just use it once a week as a detox/clarifying shampoo rather than daily. Plus, be sure to follow it up with a good conditioner. So my first foray into Aveda was mighty disappointing for me. I know the brand has loads of fans, but this shampoo just did not impress me. It's not horrible, but certainly not a stellar stand-out either. I adore the cola smell and shine, but will have to pass on repurchase due to the stripped and frizzy way it left my hair.

    mark KissInk Lip Tintmarkers

Like it more even I time I wear it!

I have this in Berry Bitten... At first glance, the packaging of the lip color brings you right back to grade school, drawing and doodling with bright markers. Ahh… the days. Anyhow, pop off the cap, and the flashback continues. The applicator for the Kissink is an actual marker tip! The tint goes on smoothly and is not overwhelming on color. You can layer it a bit if you’d like to build up a shock of color. The color wears well, but does not last as long as the other Lip Stains Bionic has reviewed. It’s a tad drying, but a slick of lip balm over top resolves this. I think Mark has discontinued this product... BOO! This was the one product I would rebuy from them. :(

  • Graham Webb Back to Basics Blue Lavendar Color Protect Shampoo

Graham Webb Back to Basics Blue Lavendar Color Protect Shampoo

Moisturizing, not bad for dry or damaged hair.

Their Color Protect shampoo stays on track. Infused with blue lavendar and sulfate-free, this shampoo is gentle on colored hair yet leaves you with a squeaky clean feel. In our tests, the shampoo left our hair smelling fresh, but you do have to use more product than usual. It’s harder to achieve the nice “sudsing” action, however this could be due to the fact that this shampoo is Sulfate-Free. (Sulfates can strip colored hair quicker.) If you shop around (i.e. not your local high-end spa), you can find this Back-to-Basics product for an affordable price. Recommended for fine, color-treated hair; but this may be too moisturizing if you don’t need the heavy conditioning.

  • Pur Minerals Mineral Lip Revival

    Pur Minerals Mineral Lip Revival

Fab moisturizer, love the soft sheen!

A little goes a LONG way with this product. It’s very creamy and you have to rub it in (only use a teeny amount- smaller than a pea). The Lip Revival is moisturizing and I love how it gets a soft sheen, not the overdramatic shine that some products do. It did see to soften the appearance of lines on my lips, but I did not notice any plumping action. It doesn’t burn or sting your lips (which is a good thing, since pain is not gain in my opinion). While I adore the application, I have to give one minor draw back. I lick my lips quite often, and this stuff tastes awful. Ugh.

  • Avon ANEW CLINICAL ThermaFirm Face Lifting Cream

Avon ANEW CLINICAL ThermaFirm Face Lifting Cream

Clogged my pores, & scent is kind of "old fashioned"

Bionic tested this product nightly for two weeks. The lotion is very creamy and blends onto your face nicely! The scent is a little “flowery” for my taste (like something a grandmother would wear), and even my husband mentioned it. After application, the cream did leave skin soft and smoother than a bare face though. However (and a BIG however)… Click Read More for the full review. After two days of use, my slightly sensitive skin began developing clogged pores everywhere! I jumped on Avon’s website for the ingredients in this product. The second ingredient is Glycerin (a known culprit for clogged pores). I was shocked when I saw that the 6th ingredient was an Aluminum product! After seeing that, I won’t use this product on my face or anywhere else. The Avon promise is “tighter, firmer, more lifted skin in 3 days”. I stuck through the test to see if this product delivered on its promise. I saw no change in my skins overall texture, fine lines, or firmness after the 2 week trial. Between the off scent, potential baddy Aluminum and the clogged pores, this just isn’t worth it. Plenty of other products out there that are better performing and more healthy for your face.
