  • Revlon Skinlights Custom Face Powders, Bare Light, 1 set

On a whim, and looking for a budget buy bronzer, Bionic purchased Revlon SkinLights Instant Skin Brightener in “01 Golden Light”. The packaging is very pleasing, with a lovely, clean, pump style application. The fluid is slightly creamy. However, application is a bit tough. The makeup does not blend well, and the color is exceptionally strong. On the pros side: the makeup does boast SPF 12 which helps us all. Due to the poor application, this is not considered a good bargain buy. I figure it can be used up by mixing with a body lotion to make a shimmery leg lotion during the spring and fall transitions.

  • John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Starlit Waves enhancing spray

Looking for a replacement for Beach Blonde’s Surf Spray by John Frieda (it was discontinued quite awhile ago, grrrr); I picked up John Frieda’s Starlit Waves in the Brilliant Brunette line. The spray promises “Wave enhancement” and “be luminious”. With a few spritz (careful not to overdo it!) and a few scrunches, I had sufficiently beachy hair. I was especially pleased since the next product for me to try was the Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray (which is pretty darn costly). Anyhow… the spray did make my hair soft, scrunchy, and yet perfectly shiny. Love it!

Avon Bond Girl 007 Eau de Parfum

Not my cup o' tea, but lovely for some

Since I’m all about girls being strong, powerful, heiny-kicking and beautiful at the same time, I was quick to add this perfume to my “Bionic Must Have” list. I adore the bottle! Pink, curvy and this really cool silver “hook” at the top. It looks super cool hanging out on my counter. The scent isn’t really my cup of tea, but that’s mostly because I prefer fresh based scents (water, more freesia, tropical notes, sporty type scents like Adidas Moves, Curve Wave). This one changed quite a bit on my skin and became a bit too “girly” for me. But… with that said, I can see how this fragrance would really appeal to sensual fragrance lovers. It’s got a lot of layers and the scent wears extremely well through the day. Here’s the scent “note” breakdown: “blend of velvety florals, cool freshness and warm woods featuring top notes of white peach and orange blossom. Mid notes include jasmine, calypso orchid and freesia, followed by a drydown of amber, cashmere wood, patchouli and musks.” Here’s to women achieving Powerful Beauty on the big screen, and off!

  • Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Stay Matte
    8.0

Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Stay Matte

Matte is so refreshing. Love Dark Denim!

Clinique’s latest launch involved a whole slew of super gorgeous, and on-trend, matte shadows. Their official name is “Color Surge Eye Shadow Stay Matte”. In my opinion, they do live up to the Color Surge… packing a whollop of color! And I love the matte look. It’s so fresh after years of shimmer and glitter. * French Vanilla- while it doesn’t show up well in my swatch photo, it makes an excellent inner eye corner or brow bone highlighter. It’s a gorgeous cream color. I worked French Vanilla into my old-hollywood glamour look. * Martini- This is a khaki brown with a green base. It’s warm and prefect for fall. It’s a great color for a one-shadow look. I used Martini and French Vanilla in my autumn “dark lip look”. * Stone Violet- I adore this color for a smoky purple eye. Just a bit on the upper lid and blend it outward from the lashline. Then use a small smudge brush to line your lower lashline. Done! * Dark Denim- Another super, amazing color! This is a very wearable blue. Think you can’t pull off blue eyeshadow? *This* is the one to try. Goes great with jeans and T-shirt. This is another color I use regularly to create a smokey eye. * Midnight- The classic black, but finally without glimmer. I wore this on date night with the Bionic Hubby. You can tone it down by blending out, while keeping the impact and density of color focused around your lash lines for a high-impact look. I got a ton of compliments on this eyeshadow! All these colors are worth a look-see. I love their color payoff, blendability and of course, the matte effect (did I mention I like the matte?) They don’t wander, flake or crease. Ask for some for the holidays, they’re the perfect size for stocking stuffers (hint, hint)! Each shadow comes in a beautious classic silver Clinique case complete with mirror.

  • Three Custom Color Specialists Watercolor for Cheeks

Three Custom Color Specialists Watercolor for Cheeks

Gorgeous colors for more than just cheeks!

This season’s answer to a slight wash of matte color across the cheekbones…Three Custom Color Watercolours for cheeks in Wallflower. Wallflower is a nude brown in a creamy formula. Lightly pull your fingers across the compact to load them with color. Blend across your cheek bones or hollows to define. I’ve also used Wallflower on my eyelids after priming them with concealer. And then on my lips for a monochromatic look. Simple and chic. I have to make a note about Three Custom Color’s packaging… all their products have such sturdy yet classy packaging. I’ve dropped my lip gloss from them- no damage. I (accidentally, I swear!) chucked my Wallflower blush off the table onto the tile flower (Gasp!)- all fine. And to boot, the Watercolours compacts have round mirrors in the flip-up lid. So great for touchups on the go! The only con I found in this particular color of Watercolours is it will probably work better for pale to medium skin tones. Since this color is pretty light and sheer, darker skin tones should pick a deeper shade from Three Custom’s selection.

  • Clinique Blushwear

    Clinique Blushwear

The new Blushwear Cream Sticks rock!

Clinique’s new Blushwear Cream Stick in Very Blush is a rosy brown hue, with a slight violet undertone, perfect for highlighting the cheek apples or sculpting your hollows. This color is much deeper and more pigmented than many cream blushes. While the stick is a familiar format (think of NARS’ the Multiple), this color is deep, deep, deep and true to the color the stick looks. I recommend going very lightly with your first application. Blend well, then add a bit more if necessary. Pale skinned women will need only a teensy amount of this blush. Yes, it’s that potent. I only used one “dot” (just pushed the circle of the stick to my cheek) on each side of my face. The formula is a bit “thicker” than I usually prefer; this reminds me of a lipstick type consistency. However, the wonderful color payoff and incredible amount of packaged product totally make up for that. As always, the Blushwear sticks are wrapped in Clinique’s classic bright silver packaging. If you’re into blush colors, this is certainly worth checking out!

  • Smashbox Spectrum Lip Gloss

    Smashbox Spectrum Lip Gloss

Holiday set is a great buy

Smashbox has a brand new holiday set of lip glosses (Holiday 2008 lip gloss set from Smashbox)! If you’ve never tried Smashbox (this was my first foray into the brand), this is a nice introduction. The lip gloss gift set has 6 sparkly glosses (from left to right in the photo above): * Illume (perfect nude to add shimmer & shine) * Radiant (a grape/wine) * Candid (this is almost a duo-chrome- a deep pink base with gold and peach shimmer. My favorite!) * Lovely (a gorgeous peach) * Stunning (deep jelly pink) * Ravishing (a brown shimmer, very wearable!) All taste a bit like vanilla (yummy!) and wear well. I love that all the colors really enhance your lips regardless of skin tone (I had a few friends try the shades as well). Lovely gift pack!

  • Your Best Face Correct
    10.0

    Your Best Face Correct

This is THE wrinkle corrector every women is seeking

Wrinkle correction, invigorates eye area, brightens dark circles. Correct is a dedicated eye-area serum and the other of my favorite YBF products. It’s a thick product and I found it best to use at night. While it’s not greasy, it does coat your eye skin with moisture, so eye makeup overtop could be a bit slippery. If I ever have baggies or puffy eyes, Correct handles them within a few hours. The product smells a little bit of nutmeg- slightly spicy but if you’re not much for scents it could take some time to get used to. Thankfully it fades *super* quickly! My eye circles were extremely improved after long term treatment; eye wrinkles were plumped and looked filled. There’s a very refreshing feel to this product. If you are looking for a great eye cream… this is my favorite by far (of all brands). Highly recommended even with the price being high (I know it’s tough to see that cost, but Correct really is effective.).

  • Your Best Face Restore
    10.0

    Your Best Face Restore

Brightens and soothes- lovely for eye area

Brightens skin, soothes and hydrates, improves complexion. Restore is one of my two favorite products in this line. I REALLY LOVED using this product. It’s a very fluid, translucent serum. Since I have some uneven skin tone due to old acne scars, melasma and hormone changes in the past few years… I was excited to try this product. Initial application leaves you with a perfect glow over your skin. Again, I only used a pea size amount of product and it covered my entire face easily. Restore provided me with light moisture without the grease and “unbreathable” feeling. It’s perfect under makeup!! And really makes your products grab and set. After long term use, my skin seemed brighter and much more even.

  • Your Best Face Defend
    10.0

    Your Best Face Defend

Great for humidity or oily faces!

Oil control premium protection synergistic anti-aging (anti-shine). Defend is formulated with Vitamin E, Spin Trap and Hyaluronic acid. The Vitamin E moisturizes, soothes and prevents wrinkles, Spin Traps defend the skin against free radicals and other environmental damage. Hyaluronic acid keeps your facial skin cells plump and regenerating. There’s also some Titanium Dioxide (a barrier sunscreen) in Defend, but you will still need to use sunscreen since there’s not enough to “rate” the SPF. Defend is a light-weight cream that is moisturizing upon application and sinks in amazingly quick! It smells a bit of maraschino cherries, I enjoyed the scent since it was naturally derived and faded fast. Defend is my go-to saviour during humid weather in Florida. I often end up with an oil slick on my face and this did a fab job of keeping the shine at bay without drying out my skin. $120 for 1 oz.
