    Covergirl LashBlast Luxe Mascara

    Where's the shimmer?

Brush separates nicely, but they blew it on the shimmer. I got the black/platinum and saw no shimmer whatsoever.

  • REMBRANDT┬« Form-Fit Whitening Strips

I've tried various versions of Crest White Strips, a bunch of other whitening products, and even professional lightening, and nothing works as well as Rembrandt. It's actually possible to keep it on (unlike Crest) long enough to get the job done. I saw significant results even with their 2-hour whitening product. My teeth are sensitive, but I didn't experience any discomfort unless I kept it on longer than recommended. My teeth were dingy from smoking. They got so white with Rembrandt my dentist told me to stop because they don't make filling resin or crown material that white, and my teeth wouldn't match. The whitening is only supposed to last about six months, but I've gone over a year without needing more. Rembrandt works so well and so quickly I don't see how the super pricey products can even sell. Why pay more? Rembrandt's the only brand worth my money, and the only one I'll use.

  • Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser

I don't get Cetaphil. It's so irritating it hurts, and leaves my skin feeling grimy and not at all clean. Even my dermatologist said it's very irritating to a lot of skins and to avoid it (she recommends Neutrogena, which even with salicylic acid is truly gentle). It's ironic that the two brands that hurt my skin the most, as in causing actual pain, burning, and/or redness, are the ones claiming to be the most gentle on the market: Cetaphil and Aveeno. You really can't believe the hype. The highest strength of Retin-A gel doesn't irritate my skin at all.

  • Urban Decay Matte Eyeshadow

Urban Decay has the best eyeshadows in the best colors in the eyeshadow universe. The way they go on and stay on is awesome. Very easy to layer for different looks, from subtle to intense. From among their various formulas I have Stray Dog, Roach, Cult, Twice Baked, and Smog, plus three liquid eyeliners. Just one can create a total eye. All of them make my blue eyes pop, and I never get tired of any of them. I bought Cult online because it looked like "eggplant" as described. When it arrived, I was bummed because it just looked like a light purple, identical to one I have in Lorac. The Lorac one looks like light purple on my eyes. But the light purple-looking Cult goes on as the perfect greyish eggplant that I wanted. Very highly recommended, especially if you prefer unconventional colors.

  • LORAC Perfectly Lit Oil-Free Luminizing Powder

It doesn't deliver a true goth corpse look, but it's awesome for evening out skin tone and deleting any natural color in your face. I don't need too much for it to lighten my skin, from slightly to a few shades lighter depending on how heavy-handed I am. It's also great for any place you want a smooth subtle shimmer. The most amazing thing is that this powder stays on until you take it off. I've liked every Lorac product I've used. They make a lot of oil-free stuff that doesn't have an oil-free look or feel. Very high price, but very high quality.

  • Avon BEYOND COLOR Plumping Lip Color SPF 15 with Double the Retinol

I've dropped a fortune on some of the most highly-touted lip plumpers, and most of them didn't work at all, much less well. I'd come to believe plumpers were just a scam. This product delivers big. The plumping action is instant and very significant. Having been ripped off so so so many times, I was stunned. Evidently it contains a sufficient amount of hyaluronic acid to produce visible plumping, and the retinol palmitate is an excellent exfoliator. Avon just busted the many manufacturers whose products are pricey just because they contain these two ingredients. Stellar results at a K-mart price. I use the colorless one so I can put any color I want over it, and reapply it without having to look. I've never used Avon before, but they've definitely got my attention now. CONS: As some others have said, it dries my lips out a little. It's a little cakey. It's annoying that you sort of have to guess at the colors when you order online. RGB 72 dpi doesn't translate into reality. The color selection is very small, and I'm not crazy about any of them. They have an artificial look to me. The famous Twig did nothing for fair skin/blonde hair/blue eyes. I do like the Beige Shimmer, which is basically no color and a little shimmer. Also, their website is glitchy and trap-happy. But overall, thumbs up on the product.

    Too Faced Baked Eyeshadow

    TOO FACED IS SO OVER

Too Faced is totally overrated. I have not been impressed with their mascara, plumpers, nor with this shadow. I got the Super Nova because it looked pretty unique online. But it goes on like a basic gunmetal, and not so smoothly. It's a little flakey and powdery. Nowhere near a stellar shadow like Urban Decay. Packaged expensively.

    WHAT A NIGHTMARE!

This is hands down the worst experience I've ever had in eyeshadow land. No matter how careful you are, the powder goes all over the place--your face, your hands, your clothes, your sink--and it's extremely hard to get off! Comet is actually necessary to clean the sink. I've never had an eyeshadow like that. When I went back to complain, they said, oh, you're supposed to apply it with a wet brush. Huh? Funny you didn't tell me that before, and that it doesn't say it on the packaging. What a huge hassle. The upside: the colors are divine. Unfortunately I bought 3, and threw them all away.

  • DERMAdoctor Wrinkle Revenge Antioxidant Enhanced Glycolic Acid Facial Cleanser 2

This clogged my pores and gave me acne I didn't have before. That said, I don't think it's a horrible product, but not all skins are going to react the same. I got Derma-E glycolic cleanser for one-third the price (you have to shop around), and it quickly cleared the acne the DERMAdoctor had caused. Derma-E is all natural, maybe that's the difference. I'll be buying more Derma-E products, and staying away from DERMAdoctor from now on.

  • N.Y.C. New York Color Ultra Moist LipWear Lipstick

N.Y.C. New York Color Ultra Moist LipWear Lipstick

BEST KEPT SECRET IN LIPSTICK LAND

This lipstick goes on super-smooth, no caking or lip lines. They have some beautiful colors. I have it in Blossom, which is a perfect subtle pink for days I goth my eyes. I have an almost identical color in Benefit, and like the NYC product better. It's creamier, and stays on longer. The difference in price was around $15-$17. I LOVE NYC! Their nail polish is as good as OPI, and WAY better than Essie and Sally Hansen. I just wish I'd discovered it before I dropped thousands on pricier products.
