    Illamasqua Lipstick

Enough to break my MAC habit.

I purchased this lipstick in 'Encounter' after having seen a character on a TV show wear it in an episode. It was every bit as beautiful on my lips as on hers! I use MAC lip primer and liner and it wears wonderfully - not as long as the MAC mattes I own, but the Illamasqua is creamier in texture, so that makes sense. It is highly pigmented and smooth and does not transfer easily. I am a fan for life; out of the five lipsticks I own, four are MAC and my fifth, 'Encounter,' has earned a permanent place in my bag.

    M.A.C. Lipstick

    A true classic.

I used to have dozens of different lipsticks. Now I have just five, and four are MAC. Russian Red is my daily staple - I go through two tubes a year! It is highly pigmented, so two swipes is enough to completely paint my pout. I use the MAC Prep and Prime lip primer and occasionally the Kiss Me Quick pencil as a liner (when I have time or I am feeling particularly fussy with the application).

  • MAC Prep + Prime Lip

    MAC Prep + Prime Lip

Great for use with all lipcolours.

I tend to shy away from any lip colour that is not deeply pigmented or matte (personal preference) and I find that with the MAC mattes this primer is not strictly necessary - I do still use it to smooth things over. However, with any of the non-mattes, regardless of brand, it is absolutely essential. It is weightless and goes on smoothly, with no odd smells or tastes.

  • MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation

MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation

    Perfect for on the go.

I use this for two purposes: as a foundation, for when I don't have enough time for a full-on application of primer/liquid foundation (or when I'm lucky enough to not need as much coverage) and as a setting powder for my liquid foundation. If I'm using it as a foundation, I use a kabuki brush to swirl up some powder into the bristles and apply it that way, building up coverage slowly. If I'm using it as a setting powder, I use a big fluffy brush - I do not like using sponges unless I cannot carry a brush, as I feel I am wasting product plus they are harder to clean than brushes. This powder does not oxidise on my skin and the pans are very resilient - I have dropped mine several times and it has not cracked.

  • MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15

I have oily skin and light acne scarring/pitting. This foundation covers every blemish completely without settling 'into' the blemish. This foundation dries very quickly, so my advice is to apply sparingly (brush or fingers, not a sponge) in small sections and smooth them out as you go rather than slathering it all over your face, otherwise it could dry and be quite difficult to blend well. The scent is not as pleasant as some of the other MAC products and I can feel that I am wearing makeup (ie it is not super lightweight). It does not oxidise on my skin nor do I need touch-ups during the day, though it does transfer to clothing a bit.

  • MAC Lip Pencil

    MAC Lip Pencil

    The best, hands down.

I own this product in Kiss Me Quick. I originally purchased it as a companion to Russian Red, and quickly discovered that once I got my application of the lipstick down, I no longer needed the liner. I now use it mainly to change the tone of other lipsticks that I own by using it as a base coat. It's a fantastic product - glides on without tugging, doesn't melt in your bag, and stays securely capped.

    MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme

    Don't forget your primer!

I am a huge fan of MAC lip products and am very particular about the staying power of said products because I wear deep reds exclusively and don't like to constantly reapply or worry about coverage. This is a very nice product, but I find that without religiously applying BOTH a primer and a liner, I will end up with feathering around my lip line - something that does not happen with the MAC matte shades I own (Russian Red, Lady Danger, Ruby Woo, etc). Once primed and lined, however, the look is flawless and the feel is more moist than the mattes.

  • Milani Infinite Liquid Liner

    Milani Infinite Liquid Liner

    100% wear-proof.

I have difficulty finding smudge- and water-proof eye products. I am Asian and most liners transfer because of my eyelid configuration coupled with my oily lids. This eyeliner is the only one I have found that works. It is quite thick, and the brush that is included is flimsy. Yes, you may need to practise your application a bit; I used a $1 angled eyeliner brush from ELF in the beginning, but I am to the point now where I can use the included brush just as well. The black is especially good for tight-lining the upper lash line. Just don't smudge it accidentally before it sets - you'll need to use makeup remover to erase your mistake!
