    DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

    Great cleanser!

Being someone that wears a full face of makeup every day along with a very long wearing high spf sunscreen (see separate review for Shiseido), I need a cleanser that really works to get rid of all of that stuff on my face. DHC's Deep Cleansing Oil does this without bothering my skin or stripping it dry. I do follow up with another gentler cleanser (beacause I feel a little uncomfortable at leaving any possible oil residue on my skin), but hav friends who skip this step with no problems. Fabulous product!

  • Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer SPF 15 With Dermaxyl Complex

Having previously used the original formula of this product, I tried this one on a couple of occasions. Unfortunately, it wreaked havoc on my skin both times. My skin doesn't seem to have problems with silicones (I have used many products containing them with no problems), but something in this formula does not agree with me. Too bad, because it has a great finish and a little spf to boot.

    Aveda Personal Blends Conditioning Formula

Wonderful way to Keep your hair bright!

I love that I can totally customize these products to suit my needs. I have a couple sets, scented to match my daily moods: a nice relaxing girly scent (#3, I think) and a refreshing minty one for when I need some extra energy. I can tailor the color (a mix of red with a touch of violet) to keep my hair color going strong between dyes, and yes, sometimes to prolong the necessity of them. My only complaint is that I wish they would offer this in a more deep conditioning formula, but I am guessing that perhaps they are concerned that the coloring agents could be left on the hair too long. So, I alternate with other, more conditioning formulas.

    MAC Pigment

    Love!

While these can be a little messy to work with at first, once you get used to them they are really quite addictive. Very versatile and they have such a broad range of colors. Some of my alltime faves are Vanilla (can be used in so many ways, and not just on your eyes!), Sweet Sienna (the most stunningly complex taupey color, but was alas limited edition), Golden Olive, and the list goes on...

Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion N SPF 60

Great sun protection that doesn't irritate my skin

Like the headline says, this stuff is wonderful. It has a high SPF, creates a nice silky base for makeup, and does not irritate my somewhat finicky skin. What more could you ask for? Yes, it has a fragrance (as all Shiseido products seem to), and it's a bit pricey, but I figure I will be happy as I age that I pay to protect it now.

  • Tarte Natural Cheek Stain

    Tarte Natural Cheek Stain

    A perfect natural flush!

Being very pale, finding a good natural blush that doesn't overpower my fair skin can be a challenge. I have found that Tarte's cheekstain in Tipsy is absolutely perfect for this though. It creates this soft natural flush, and has just enough of a sheen to create a beautiful glow (without being over the top glittery). This is my favorite blush. I recently purchased Blushing Bride as well. This is a darker shade, but applied lightly (I use my BeautyBlender), it is lovely. This stick will last next to forever, so the price is well worth it.

    MAC lipsticks

I have purchased more shades of MAC lipsticks over the years than I can even recall. This, I think, is one of their strengths. They have so many amazing shades that everyone can find a perfect one. Dubonnet definitely has my vote for Best Ever Red. It works on everyone I have ever tried it on. For lighter shades, Frenzy is a pretty shimmery shade that is very easily customized with liner. And "O" is a wonderfully unique berry shade with coppery shimmer. You just can't beat MAC for the selection and quality in this price range.

    Magic in a bottle

Wow! I think I am in love. When I first received this in the mail, I spent 30 minutes playing with it and various eyeshadows. One or two drops in a pan of eyeshadow and, voila, creamy and easy to apply shadow with amazingly intense color. I tried it with MAC Trax, Beauty Marked, Honeylust, Sumptious Olive, and many others (also some random no-name cheapo shadows). They all looked incredible. I have now used this often over the past few months, and it is still just amazing. Another bonus, once this sets (after blending, etc) the shadows I put on with it do not budge all day. Amazing stuff.

    Dr. Brandt Pores No More

    Thank you, Dr. Brandt!

I have tried a number of primers (Smashbox, Laura Mercier, BE, etc...), and while I am always on the lookout for something 'even better', this stuff really is pretty great. It goes on nicely and smoothly, mattifies the skin well, doesn't break my skin out (Yay!), and best of all, it seems to actually help keep my skin clear. Maybe the tea tree oil in it really works. I don't know, but try not to question a good thing too much. The smell isn't wonderful, but it goes away quickly. Anyone who is scared off by the color need not worry. I, too, was disturbed by the color when I first saw it, but upon application, it is invisible (and trust me, I am super pale...see pics in profile). Will I buy again? Definitely. As a matter of fact, writing this review is reminding me of how very much I want to go buy it right now. :)
