  • L'Oreal Paris HiP Studio Secrets Professional Shocking Shadow Pigments

Yes they're pigmented. But the application process is not fun! I have to apply this with the help of a mixing medium to get it to set. If that wasn't hard and inconvenient enough, I then have to blend the coarse pigment (which isn't great for my delicate eyelids). The fall out onto my cheeks isn't easy to get off either. Agh, I just don't bother with these anymore. I have these in three colors, but I don't use them anymore. MAC pigment is just as pigmented, if not more, and it's not coarse or hard to apply. Hope this helps :D

    Sebastian Whipped Creme

One of the minority but for good reason

This product left me indifferent. I mean, yeah, it's light and liked whipped cream, but that results in limp, drab hair, for me that is. It claims to "perfectly define bouncing curls and soft waves" but it doesn't have the strength to do so. The only thing that I agree to is that it does "leave a shiny finish" (aka dirty-feeling greasy finish), "without leaving hair dry or crunchy". Look, if this was just some leave-in smoothing styling product, I wouldn't mind it, maybe I'd even tolerate it and use it once in a blue moon if it weren't for the greasy feeling after two hours of wearing it. However, the product didn't deliver what it promised: "bouncy curls" and "soft waves". And nada doing. I'm also not enthusiastic for the smell (it smells like aerosol-sickenly sweet-wannabe bathroom air freshener) or for some of the ingredients (petrolatum and mineral oil). Anyway, for those of you still interested, the directions are as follows: 1) shake well 2) dispense downwards in the palm 3) distribute evenly into damp hair 4) Air dry for a tousled sensual look, diffuse for more luscious defined curves, or set hair for glamorous, bouncy curls. Hope this helps with your purchase :)

  • Sebastian Microweb Fiber

    Sebastian Microweb Fiber

Works well with my long, thick, curly-wavy hair!

I have really long hair and it's rare for me to find a styling product, let alone a texturizer, that will not leave residue (be in the form of flakes, excess stickiness, or clumps) throughout my tresses. So you can imagine my wariness when I first squeezed the first drop of this, because it felt, as another reviewer described, sticky like Elmer's glue (it even looks like Elmer's glue - it's white!). But I am so glad I overcame my initial hesitant foolishness because it worked wonders! Having long hair, I struggle with the organization of my style. I hate to wear hair spray, so I rely on other styling products. This was not heavy; it organized my cut and bangs in a soft way. The "flexible-elastic texturizer" doesn't give me the "doused in hair gel" look that I hate! That alone - the sculpt without greased look - is wonderful! Okay, now that I've covered the technical stuff of it - how well it works, etc., I'll describe the actual product and its worded text. The product comes in a dispenser much like a shaving cream can. The product itself is white like Elmer's glue. It has a pleasant soft floral smell that doesn't smell artificial or nauseating like most styling products do. The stated method for use of this product is as follows: 1) evenly distribute in the palm of your hand. 2) use your hands to work the product through your hair. 3) Scrunch, press, or twist to bring texture to life. The reason I rate it an 8 is because I don't have the right kind of cut that would benefit most from this product. Someone with a pixie/shorter/angled/victoria-beckham-rihanna style would get the most from it. But it works well enough with my hair. :)

  • Yves Saint Laurent Beauty Parisienne Eau de Parfum Spray
    3.0

Yves Saint Laurent Beauty Parisienne Eau de Parfum Spray

The meek shall inherit YSL's Parisienne

Yes, you read right: this fragrance is WAY too soft for this Parisienne. YSL tried hard to master a fragrance with a "grand floral with a woody structure...with notes of Blackberry, Damask Rose and Sandalwood." But what they ended up with was a soft, soft, soft, scent (I had to spray FIVE times for it to even reach my nose) that has a powder-like aroma of Damask Rose with hints of a berry - which might be the Blackberry. I can't smell the "woody structure" or the Sandalwood. This fragrance reminds me and smells like a soft Stella McCartney perfume (very rose-sey floral). As a fan of YSL's dynamic "Elle" perfume, I was very disappointed with this, because it smells like a cheap, rose scented, baby powder. The bottle is gorgeous, the ad with Kate Moss was beautiful and artsy, but the scent is a disappointment. If you're into rose-y floral scents, try Stella McCartney.

    MAC Travel Jar .5oz

Great for a lot of uses

Great for: 1. Traveling with pigments 2. Mixing different pigment combinations 3. Sample sizes 4. Trading pigments 5. Keeping pigment source safe (every time you open pigment jar, you risk contaminating it. Scoop 1/8 of the jar in the .5 Oz or even the .25 Oz containers to use daily.

Hard to use without a mixing medium

The day I fell in love with these wasn't the day I purchased 23 of them. No, it was the day I discovered mixing medium. You don't have to buy MAC's mixing medium. Make your own: 1/4 glycerin and 3/4 water - mix and store in a plastic container. All you need to do is damp your brush and apply however you like. Hope that helps! :D

    MAC 219 Pencil Brush

A must have in your beauty arsenal!

I use this brush with every single look I do! I use it for powder liner, applying color to the crease, outer eye brush, etc. You name it, I incorporate it into my makeup application routine. Love. This! :D I haven't even found another brush on the market that rivals this. So, this is a keeper!

    MAC Brush Cleanser

    It gets the job done

It works but I use mine up fast. I can't keep spending $20 (two bottles worth) per month on this stuff. I think I'll try Clinique's instead.

    MAC Cream Colour Base

    I love MAC but...

I love MAC but...not enough to baby this horrendous excuse as a base. Are you kidding me?! This thing creases within 20 minutes of applying. By the end of the morning, it's virtually gone. Ugh. What am I to do with this pot of worthlessness? It'd be better used for Back2MAC. :/

  • Make Up For Ever Eye Shadow

It works well, but I find that it's not any better than MAC (in fact, MAC tends to surpass the quality on some of the shades). In addition, MAC is more reasonable priced and isn't going to break the bank like MUFE can do to you. I have several colors from MUFE, yet I reach for my MAC colors more often. Actions are more powerful than words, right ;D
