  • E.L.F. Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder

I got this back when they only had the one duo in shade Blushed and Bronzed. It was supposed to be an affordable dupe for the NARS Orga$m and Laguna blush and bronzer duo. This was not the case for me. Upon using the bronzer for the first time with a clean powder brush it sealed over for apparently no reason and I could not pick up any product. I scraped off the hard surface and tried again with a more dense brush. Same thing. So I gave up on the bronzer and thought that maybe I had gotten a dud. Apparently I wasn't missing much as I now know that many people say it looks 'muddy' and 'dirty' on the skin. So I decided to try the blush so that it wouldn't be a total waste of money. At first glance it is a pretty peachy pink with a golden sheen. Upon application it is a chalky hard to blend powder with gold GLITTER in it. I was very disappointed with this product and ended up throwing it away. I really wanted it to be a dupe for NARS. It's not. But at least it was only $3. Their products can be inconsistent, though. Maybe I just got a bad one. I like a couple of their studio single blushes just fine. And, I like many other elf products like their $1 eye shadow primer and eyelash curler as well as their all over color sticks. This was just an unfortunate fail for me.

  • E.L.F. Studio High Definition Powder

I got this on a whim to make up the difference in an ELF order so I could get free shipping. It's alright but it does not help with absorbing oil at all. And, I have oily combo skin. It does however give a very smooth, airbrushed finish to the skin and makes you LOOK matte. This is basically silica powder with a slight bit of talc to keep it from clumping. Same exact thing as Makeup Forever HD Powder. It makes your skin feel very smooth and slippy almost like when you apply a silicone primer. But I don't feel like it helped to set my makeup in place or to make it last any longer. You get a generous amount and it's only $6 so if you have been coveting the MUFE HD Powder then give it a shot, by all means. But, if you are an oily girl I would skip this one and try something like the Milani Multitasking powder or the Rimmel Stay Matte powder. This will give you a white clinging effect in photos with flash so be aware of that and avoid using it when you know flash photos will be taken. This is a great topper over another powder to give the skin a very refined and soft look. But, I don't find myself reaching for it much.

    Benefit Coralista

    My perfect color!

I use this blush almost every time I wear makeup. It gives such a beautiful warm glow. It has fine golden shimmer that helps to warm up your skin and make it more luminous. And the sheer but easily buildable coral color instantly perks up my face. The powder is nice and fine and applies very smoothly with a soft brush. Plus it smells fantastic. Sort of fruity like grapefruit. And, it doesn't break my sensitive skin out. This is a must have for me. I have had it for a few years now and I still have not hit pan. It may be a tad pricey but you really get your moneys worth in quantity AND quality. The little brush is so soft too and fits perfectly inside the box. The packaging is adorable. Although, I would avoid getting it wet as it appears to be made out of some kind of laminated cardboard so be careful about using it near your bathroom sink or anything. I just love this blush over all and would highly recommend that everyone tries this one. The only thing I would say is that even though it is buildable it is a lighter shade so you may want to try it on at Sephora before you buy if you're over an NC/NW35-42.

    Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara

    Awful Awful Awful

This wand is insanely huge and difficult to work with. The formula is so watery and wet that it gets absolutely everywhere and stings really badly if it gets in your eyes. Because it's so wet and the bristles on the brush are spaced quite widely apart it really clumped my lashes together. The heaviness of the mascara(as it went on thickly)weighed down my lashes absolutely destroying any semblance of a curl I once had. And, it made my lashes really crispy and hard. It smells strongly of chemicals too. This just did not work at all for my lashes. I wanted it to too because it is supposed to be good for them and help to condition them as you wear it. This was not my experience. It was pretty pricey too. I wish this one had worked out. This was impossible to apply on my lower lashes. It is just so messy to apply. I hated this. Avoid at all costs.

  • NYX Cosmetics NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil

This product stays great on the waterline and acts as a good sticky base for eyeshadow and glitter. It isn't the longest lasting primer ever but it works great when you apply it heavily to create a creased grunge look. I like highlighting my brow bone with milk or cottage cheese. It works very nicely to intensify an inner corner highlight too. It's great to put just a sheer wash across the lid when you're going to the beach because cream stays better in water. These need a special sharpener which is a bit annoying but they wouldn't be 'jumbo' if they didn't. They are affordable so you can get them in several different shades. One great use it to layer it under a sheer eyeshadow of the same color to make the most of it. Works especially well for yellows which are often sheer when they are matte. Give these a try!

  • Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Concealer

Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Concealer

One of the better ones in my collection

This concealer is supposed to be more suited to under eye concealing due to it's supposed ability to stay out of fine lines and wrinkle on dehydrated skin. Well, I guess my under eyes are to hydrated because this creased on me. Badly. And, no matter how little I used or how well I set it with Rimmel Stay matte powder and/or my bare minerals mineral eye brightener it still looked like it was melting within just a few hours. So I stopped using it for a long while and thought of chucking it in the trash but it was too pricey for me to waste! Guilt got the best of me and I decided to give it another go but this time I had an idea. You know how when you spot treat your pimples the medicine always makes them so dried out and flaky? What if I took an anti-aging, hydrating concealer and used it over those dry patches? Viola! Perfection. This covers pretty well, I must say. It is pricey for drugstore as most Revlon products are quickly becoming these days but, I have to say that for me this one is worth it. It gives a good medium coverage and since it's meant for aging skin it has ingredient to give moisture to dehydrated skin and combat dark spots. Lighter post acne hyper-pigmentation anyone? Yes please! Not to mention the shade range is awesome. Much more yellow-toned than the colorstay line is. I am shade 001 when I am at my fairest and 002 when I get a bit of color to me. Love this concealer for dry skin. It will probably work great for you if you have dry under eyes. Give it a shot!

  • Revlon PhotoReady Concealer

    Revlon PhotoReady Concealer

    Overall Makeup Bag Must-Have.

I always keep this one in my purse for quick touch ups. It super creamy and blends easily even over a powder for a touch up if a blemish starts to show through throughout the day. This is even good for under the eyes with a light dusting of powder. Too much powder over top of this makes it look a bit dry on my skin. This has medium buildable coverage but can be sheered out beautifully over larger areas like red cheeks or around the mouth. I love how portable this is. It's great for travel. This wears pretty well on me and needs minimal maintenance on my oily combo skin. The shades are nice and yellow toned too. That way it will actually cover redness instead of adding more with a pink toned concealer(which I hate). I like to use my fingers with this to really melt it into the skin. I find that it gives a better finish that using a brush which can tend to remove product. The price of this is a little high for drugstore but I do feel that it is worth it. The quality is very nice. Comparable to higher end brands definitely. The only other reason I removed two stars is that it can look a tad dry over blemishes if you don't use a good moisturizer beforehand. Otherwise this is great stuff! Give it a shot!

  • Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream

    Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream

    Absolutely Terrible

I bought this once when I ran out of my normal face moisturizer. This is horrible. It's thick and feels heavy. It makes your skin greasy and you feel smothered like your skin can't breathe. It was so hard to spread out and smooth it on. You really have to rub to get it to sink in and I don't like that. Way to give people premature wrinkles, Cetaphil! Patting doesn't even work because it's just SO thick and sticky. This did break me out as well. I do not recommend this. It NEVER sinks in!

    Pond's Dry Skin Cream

    Allergic Reaction

I tried this a couple of years ago when my face was really dry in winter. This broke me out with a few pimples and gave my a bumpy rash on my skin. I think I was allergic to something in it. Avoid this is you have very sensitive skin like I do. but I used the cold cream and it works great for removing makeup. I just can't use it as an all over cleanser because I have Seborrheic Dermatitis and too much moisture gives me flare ups. It would be good for an occasional hydrating mask, though. Anyway, this cream just wasn't for me.

  • TRESemme Bouncy Curls Defining Gel
    9.0

    TRESemme Bouncy Curls Defining Gel

    So sad it's being discontinued!

I have had a love hate relationship with this product for the last few years. It's been a constant experiment of using different leave-in conditioning product in conjunction with it and applying more or less of it. Too much and your hair is crunchy and flat. Too little and it's poofs and frizz galore! Just enough: Perfection. I have finally found the perfect combo to get soft, crunch free, frizz free, touchable curls. So...of course....THEY DISCONTINUE IT! A few spritzes of Pantene detangler and light conditioning mist, a dab of coconut oil worked through just the ends, a quarter size blob of gel(no bigger or smaller)rubbed in my hands and then finger combed through(ends first) was finally the perfect curly routine. I will now go to as many stores as possible that sell this and stock up as soon as payday comes around again. That will buy me some time to find a replacement hopefully(if an adequate one exists). I am so disappointed that they're not selling this anymore. This gel gave me the perfect weightless, frizz-free, spiral ringlets without making my hair sticky. Stock up while you can ladies!
