People say that healthy skin can be obtianed through a healthy balanced diet containing all the nutrients. I dont agree.... It needs a proper skin care regimen. I have gone throguh all this myself. I used to have home made food no junk food but still had skin full of pimples and scara. Its only when I started folowing skin care routine that I had clear pimple free skin. Whats your say on this? I agree with you....A good diet is certainly not a bad idea, but pimples and such aren't caused specfically by eating too many chips! They can be caused by hormonal changes, clogged pores, etc. The junk food could contribute in some way, but you'd have to eat a lot of it. And I think there's no way you can single out what's causing the skin problems.
I mean, there's people who eat a lot of junk and have great skin. (And no weight problem either!) A good skin care routine is essential for good skin.
I dunno...maybe you need a combination of both a good diet and good skin care regimen. Could vary by individual too.

It probably varies with each individual. I was having really bad breakouts and I cut white breads out of my diet, started eating healthier, and I only drink water and my breakouts have disapeered... and they were bad.

A good diet, and getting enough water can HELP, but there are many factors that affect your skin--genetics, makeup and skincare products (even hair products!), how often you touch your face. I'll always be acne-prone, but my skin is much clearer when I can keep my hands off my face. The only time I had truly clear skin was after Accutane.

I completely agree. Of course your diet impacts your skin, but I think the single most important thing is your skin care routine and the products you use. What really struck me is an article that said acne-prone skin sheds 4 times the amount of skin cells as skin that isn't scne-prone. You can't change that with your diet -- you've just got to stay on top of exfoliating the extra skin cells or you will end up with zits. I'm a vegetarian, eat healthy (lots of fruits and veggies, very little processed foods), but the only thing that's made a difference is my skin care routine.
