Hi Everyone,
I've been working out consistently for about a year, but my weight loss has been really slow. I've only lost about 15-18lbs. I've also changed my diet and started eating a lot healthier. I haven't been in taking much protein and I believe that is a reason why my weight loss has been slow. How much protein should I take to speed up my weight loss? Are there any recipes, shakes or vitamins I should be taking?
Thanks in advance

7 RepliesThe body needs 0.8g of protein for every 1 kg (1kg=2.2lb) of healthy body weight a day. Protein is essential to build muscle, and muscle is what burns fat most effectively. As long as you're getting enough protein to build muscle from work outs and staying away from any excess calories you should be doing the right thing. But losing weight is generally speaking all about caloric balance. The amount of calories you burn throughout the day should be greater than the amount of calories you take in. Your metabolism, the types of foods you're eating and the types of exercises you do can all influence your unique caloric balance. I would say read a good nutrition book (I like Eat, Drink and Be Healthy the Harvard Medical Guide to Healthy Eating) with solid science behind it and maybe try some different kinds of exercise. Be patient! You are taking good care of your body and that's what's most important, the number on the scale doesn't measure that at all!
Female needs more energy due to its working nature. She have to take care of his family members, home working, office job, other little task make female stronger than men. It needs more energy to perform her duty as well. According to my knowledge she need to consume 2700 to 3000 calorie per day. It make her stronger and build attractive body figure.

I find that if you're eating meat everyday the protein is sufficient. To lose fat, you'll need to reduce the carb and sugar level. My nutritionist suggested to keep total carbs under 130 per day is good. I have found success in this formula for fat loss while maintaining muscle weight.
I've been using the app My Fitness Pal and it examines how much protein you're taking in, as well as fat, total calories, sugar, etc. Eating a lot healthier is good, but if you want to lose weight, you need to make sure the net total for calories is fewer than the number of calories needed to maintain your current body weight. The best way to do that is to keep track of your food and exercise.
Hi,
Thanks for your input. Your tips and advice are very helpful for me.
Thanks again!

People don't really understand that sometimes when they are losing weight, they may be losing muscle first and holding on to fat.Go to one of your local Weight Loss Centers and learn about weight loss so you will really understand how to lose weight. http://www.shoppharmacycounter.com/t-phentermine.aspx
