well ive tried so many foundations. cream, liquid powder yada yada yada......
for anybody interested, heres a list of what ive used.
dior nude glow: (favorite liquid foundation ever, but alchohol is the third ingrediant and thats too drying for my already dry skin. still love though, beautiful finish) 46$
chanel vitalumiere: very hydrating, in fact, too hydrating. it never dried. the most i ever spent on foundation too :/ like 60$
tarte smooth operator: another fave for summer but has glitter and its doesnt like to dry either.. 36$
tarte foundation: nice, nice coverage, but nothing that awed me. 37$
too faced amazing face: ok.. nothing amazing 36$
pur minerals 4 in 1: favorite powder but if i wear powder too many days ina row, i break out and blackheads come to the party to. good coverage though. 27$
stila illuminating foundation: beautiful finish but mineral oil is the second ingredient and mineral oil and my face dont get along.
korres ginger and vitamins: i think this has been discontinued 30$
korres rose foundation: beautiful if you have dry skin but the colors are dark
bare minerals: hate. period. 28$
stila oil free: nothing amazing to me. overpriced i think 30$ i think?
stila tinted moisturizer: no coverage what so ever. 30$?
clinique even better: nice but all of cliniques color are weird to me 24$
clinique perfectly real: same ^^^ 24$?
lancome teint miracle: beautiful but something in the ingredients didnt agree with my skin :( owell. 37$
lancome tieint idole ultra: same as miracle but more coverage. both are beautiful. 42$
makeup forever hd: good for people with oily skin. 40$
origins stay tuned: beautiful finish. in fact dupe of dior. but not enough coverage as dior 20$
nars sheer glow: hated this. very drying in my opinion 42$
lorac natural performance: dried orange on me 36$
mac prolong wear: to drying but awesome for oily people. kinda oxidized $?
i have a whole other list for drugstore but this is already long.. the only one i really like is cg smoothers but the colors on those are weird too..
anyway!!! its been a long and tiresome journey through which i wanted to gie up. o and i didnt buy all of these. most were samples.
see, the main problem i had was they looked so unnatural. i hate the makeupy look. foundations would settles into laugh lines and it annoyed me so much. i could use tinted moisturizers, but i need more coverage from acne and scarring. its not bad but my skin is my biggest insecurity. so one day, i was experimenting and i tryed something.
i took my foundation and used it as a spot concealer on the places i needed coverage, then lightly powdered with translucent powder to bring it all together. i was amazed. it looked like my skin but better. no makeup look. no settling. even in direct sunlight. i know this way of doing it isnt mind blowing but its ended my frustration and i cant understand why i didnt think of it earlier. i just applied foundation everywhere and it always looked bad. (except for dior but i cant wear that everyday)
my search ended yesterday. after searching online reviews for a good full coverage foundation, i bought dermablend smooth indulgence foundation. i basically use it as concealer and loreal translucent powder. im going to get a new powder though because this one makes me oilier than usual. but all in all, i love this way and i hope it stays that way.

Whoa! You have tried so many foundations. Unfortunately I haven't so I know I won't be big on help. The only one i have and tried is Mac Studio Fix Fluid, and this is only twice I bought it because I learned that less is better , so it lasts me for a long time. I agree with you that the cakiness happens with alot of foundations and thats why I prefer not to whether it at all. When i do i blend it with a light cream or sunscreen so it can give a tint. It works but I still feel as though its heavy and then end up washing my face.
You said that just covering and then adding translucent powder works for you. You can continue doing that but instead of covering your whole face with foundation use one of those good tinted sunscreens (bioderma is really good) and then do the covering. It could look more natural. As for powders have you tried clinics line? I find it does the job as long as you dont wash your face with it! Im writing here thinking, she probably already tried that! and then again as I said Im not a make up godess so Im just thinking logic with this.
Anyways, I hope you find a way and a product that works for you! And if you ever do, share!

I am a makeup artist at ULTA, and Too Faced just released a new liquid foundation - Too Faced Amazing. I always use a primer first - like Shashbox or Stila or Benefit. This foundation makes my skin glow. I have tried lots of foundations, too, but have never seen such great results. I also have another routine - I put L'Oreal Souffle on my face, then the Too Faced. The Souffle is so light and airy, it makes a good primer. I end up with a dewy finish. The I use Laura Geller baked powder on top. Beautiful!! Hope this helps.
yea the too faced amazing is on my list.
and i know what you mean. my skin is by far my biggest insecurity and ive tried alot! but im gonna get the travel size laura mercier tm tomorrow and then put a little bit of powder over it.
ill do a review. actually im stuck between the mineral powder and tm but i already have a nice loose powder. anyway lol thank you :)
and i didnt cover my whole face. i used the dermablend as a spot concealer and then powder to set it.

Bare Escentuals Mineral Makeup - No makeup line! Not quite as much coverage as I'd like though, but it gives me a great glow!
Temptu's Airbrushing system- This is amazing! Great coverage-as little or as much as you like, and no makeup line! ... However, my $200 system broke after only a couple of months. There are several other airbrushing systems including Luminess an Dinair though...
yes :) i have the luminess system
