Gwyneth Paltrow Preachin' to the People: Modeling's 'a Perfect Job for When You Have Kids'
I grew up on body lotion, but recently I got a sample of body oil and I don't think I can ever go back. Anyone else use body oil? Any thoughts/feedback on body oil vs body lotion or cream?
Thanks!
20 RepliesI would definetely say body oil, i have very dry skin and i use the neutrogena body oil. it keep my skin glowing, soft and most of all moisturize all day.
In general, I don't like oil. It doesn't absorb and feels greasy and rubs off onto things. Then, how do you get the benefit if it doesn't absorb? I don't even like COOKING with much oil, like for frying. I know that's different, but oil is gross to me in general, and I use little of it in that manner.
I prefer lotions and creams for moisturzing, and as far as I've read, as long as you exfoliate, the lotions will absorb and do their thing.
Usually the moisturizing ingredients in lotion are oils that have emulsified (mixed with water chemically) so they don't leave a greasy feel, or chemicals that make the skin feel soft but don't actually benefit it. So why use all the extra crap? For quite some time now i've used jojoba oil not only to moisturize my body, but also to soften cuticles, smooth a flakey spot on the face (amazing for a healing zit or dry skin in the winter) even my hair! And i have to share this oiling the hair secret with everyone because i can't beleive how healthy, shiny and strong my hair has become since oiling it. Different oils are recommended based on your hair type but jojoba is a safe place to start for all hair types. Once a week i work the oil into my scalp and work it through my hair to the ends, adding extra to ends. I put my hair in a bun and leave it in for a few hours or overnight (use a shower cap, scarf of hanky to wrap your hair in so you don't oil your pillows) And just wash and condition like usual. Take a look at your hair in the sunlight the next day, no flyaways and increadible shine. I have super fine hair and i though oiling it would make it even flatter and dirty looking, but it's the exact opposite. It may not work for everyone. This is taken from suite101: Natural haircare is a highly individual science. Some people find oiling works beautifully for them; others do not. In general, oiling is good for long and/or dry hair. Coarser, thicker hair can usually benefit from heavier oils, while fine and thin hair often responds better to light oils. Darker hair often looks shiny after oiling, while fair hair may look greasy or dirty if too much oil is used. In addition, "thirsty" hair will often initially respond well to a larger quantity of oil, but become greasy over time if oiling is not reduced.
I mix the two together. I have found this combination really works. It absorbs better than using just the one or the other. I also mix body oil with body creams, with the same results. That way I don't feel greasy. I also use body oil with vitamin E mixed with face cream, and again it really absorbs without feeling greasy.
I use both. But I use the Omorovicza body oil more frequently especially during winter season. It does not have a greasy feel on it.
@ Volta- try Argan Oil!
I never used body oil before, except as a bath product, because it was given to me. Did not like it. I bought an inexpensive but fragrant spray oil, and anyone who usually uses massage oils should check into these. It is lighter and absorbs into the skin. I primarily use it on my feet, after a bath or shower. Most of the time, I do still use body lotion.
Normally, I would say oil. I have been loving Argan Oil. But, lately I think I like lotion better:) I LOVE the Mirra Renew Japanese Yuzu Conditioning Lotion. It is soooo cheap, and soooooo worth it.
I've never tried "proper" [adult] body oil. I've tried baby oil a long time ago and wasn't too crazy, but I'd like to give it another shot. I've always been used to lotion. I just need to be careful because occasionally I get eczema patches if I use stuff that has certain chemicals or perfumes in it.
