Eye Makeup MVP's

I'll try to be short and sweet, no promises. Sometimes there is no short explanation when it comes to beauty, I could literally go on, and on, and on.
1. Primer
Priming the eyelid will coat it with a base layer, that will help enhance the makeup you choose to wear and help fight against any creasing that could happen. Primer will allow your makeup to look better for a longer amount of time.
-Favorite Primers: Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Urban Decay Primer Potion, ELF Eyelid Primer

2. Paint Pot or Cream Shadow
Using a paint pot or cream shadow as a "primer" will give a nice under-glow. It's a small touch that goes a long way. For my daily look, I always prime my eye with a one of these, and then add my favorite neutrals over top. It has just the right amount of "oomph" without being overdone.
-Favorite: Mac Paint Pot in Painterly and Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo in Barely Branded

3. Jumbo Eye Pencil
If you're doing any type of bright, vibrant, colorful makeup look then this Jumbo Eye Pencil is going to change your life. Before applying the bright colors, pop on the eye pencil in the desired areas. This creamy white base layer will allow the colors to be applied as bright as possible. Even on the darkest of skin tones, applying this before any color will make POP!
-Favorite: NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil, Milk and Cottage Cheese

4.  Eyeliner
Eyeliner is a staple in makeup collections. I like to keep a variety of choices for different effects. Pencil Eyeliner, Liquid Eyeliner or Gel Liner all have a special place in my vanity.
Favorite: WetnWild Mega Eyes Cream Eyeliner, black

5. Mascara
Mascara is another staple. There is a huge variety available for all types of eyelash needs. I use a mixture of 2-4 mascaras on a daily bases. Don't judge me.
Favorite Mascaras: Benefit They're Real, Maybelline Big Eyes, ELF 3 in 1 Mascara

6. Eyelash Curler
Give your lashes a lift and make them more noticeable with, or without mascara. Just be careful not to rip them out.

7. Neutral Eye Shadow Palette
Invest in neutral shadows. If you're worried about dropping big bucks at the Makeup Store, remind yourself that you can wear neutrals daily. These are also nice to have for travel, as you can just pack up your palette and have a ton of looks to pick from in one, easy place.
Favorite Neutral Palettes: Urban Decay Naked Basics, NYX Natural Palette

8. Shadow Shields (optional)
If you're using any loose pigments or anything with lots of fallout, I highly suggest you use the Shadow Shields. Everybody does makeup in their own order, so if you happen to apply your face makeup prior to eye makeup, then your fallout is going to make a mess all over your freshly made up skin. Personally, I always do my eyes first to avoid this, but even at that, if you're using loose pigments, they WILL fallout. Not a necessity, but definitely worth it for certain situations!

9. Brush Set
The first step in stepping-up your makeup game is to invest in brushes. The tools you use are just as important as the products. Those little applicator things that come with products are not going to give you the variety you need in creating a blended, professional look. If you're iffy on dropping $100+ on a set, stop into your local drugstore and check out their sets first. They have plenty of brushes in all price ranges. You have to start somewhere!
Favorite Brushes: Sigma Beauty (Professional Eyes Kit)

10.  Eyebrow Pencil
Filling in my brows is a necessity for life. All my life I've been on the "thicker" side of eyebrows. That being said, no matter how thick or full your brows are, they always look better filled in. That's just how I feel. It's taken me a while to establish a brow routine and what works best for me. It's a very specific routine that is very different per person. Regardless of how you work your brows, let's all just agree that filled brows look better than non-filled! I could expand on this topic so heavily, it's out of hand. Maybe a brow blog coming soon?
Favorite: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, WetnWild Coco Riche Gel Liner and Angled Brush

11. Tinted Brow Gel
Once you've got your brows filled in to perfection, set them with some tinted brow gel to keep them from going anywhere.
Favorite: Sonia Kashuk Tinted Brow Gel, Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel
