My Makeup Storage
This blog is all about how I store my makeup. On a scale of 1 to 10, my makeup collection falls in a safe 5. 5 meaning that there are some woman who would say I've completely gone overboard, and 10's saying that i've only just begun collecting compared to their collections.
I have 3 main organizational pieces:
1. Ikea Malm Dressing Table, http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10203610/
This is a vanity table with a pull out drawer that is the entire length of the table, and a glass top which is perfect for cleaning up after a makeup extravaganza. Inside of this drawer, I have clear, acrylic organizers that separate the sections. It's broken down into a few categories: small eyeshadow palettes, eyebrow care, eyeliners, cream bases, face lotion, eye makeup removers and beauty sponge.
2. Table Top Organization:
There was a point in life where all I needed was the pull out drawer from the vanity. That day has come and gone! When I needed to expand, I knew exactly what I was looking for. Above you will see the acrylic drawer organizers. I purchased these from Muji (http://www.muji.us/store/storage/acrylic-cases.html?limit=all ) These make it easy for me to quickly see on a daily basis what I have, and access it quickly. The very top is an acrylic lipstick holder. I purchased this on amazon.com for less than $5. I really love having my lipstick on display! Working the way down, the drawers go in this order:
-Samples drawer (one of my favorites)
-Lip glosses and liners
-Face and Eye Primers, BB Creams
-Bronzers & Powders
-Loose pigments, individual shadows, glitters
I should probably mention that there are a few "loose" items sitting on top of my Muji drawers, including my foundation and setting spray, argan and tea tree oils, brush cleaner, dry shampoo, and a lotion for easy access.
The brush holders are from Meijer & Wal Mart. For those of you who don't have Meijer, it's pretty much a local-based Wal-Mart type of store. You can really use anything from a cup to a vase for your holders. I have 2 containers, one is for face brushes and the other are eye brushes. It keeps me sane having everything in it's place.
The only other thing on my table top is a mirror.
3. Ikea Alex 5 Drawer http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10192824/
This is where I store everything else that doesn't fit. These drawers were seriously made for us beauty girls! They having the perfect depth and height for all the beauty extras. These drawers are organized in this order:
Drawer 1 - Eyelashes, lash glue, hair ties, bobby pins, bun, etc.
Drawer 2 - Nailpolishes, NP Remover, Emory boards, Sunglasses and glass cleaning wipes
Drawer 3 - Palettes
Drawer 4 - Beauty Extras, soaps, hair products, coconut oil, razers, hair caps, face masks, etc. It's a busy drawer!
