A BETTER WAY TO APPLY FINISHING POWDER!

You've just done your makeup and it's perfect.  You want it to stay that way, so you reach for a brush to complete your look with setting powder, either matte or loose.  Step back and put the brush down! You see, brushes can actually loosen the foundation and products you've applied and disrupt the perfectly-concealed blemish you worked hair to disguise.  Many professional makeup artists suggest taking a flat sponge or powder puff, dipping it in powder, and using a wave-like, rolling motion to deposit the particles in your pores. Move over your entire face like this, concentrating on areas that tend to become oily quickly.  Once you've done this, you're pretty much set, so go ahead and now dust LIGHTLY with a soft-bristled brush to remove any excess (you want to highlight your face, not your makeup).  Now, don't you look pretty?  And it will be a long time before (or if) you need a touch-up!

What do you think about the new finishing sprays such as urban decay all nighter? i find it to be amazing but I'm now wondering what the difference is between a spray and a powder. Just personal preference? The spray sounds like a lot less work and has great staying power.

how thick must the foundation layer be if a light dusting of powder will loosen it?!

Is my face red! That was supposed to have red the "blemish you worked hard to disguise." Time for concealer for me . . .
