Diet and acne
That year I became very motivated to get my skin cleared up. I read an article about skin health and decided this time it had to work. I began changing my diet, slowly at first. I cut out eating too many desserts. It helped a great deal so I decided to cut everything sugary out of my diet. I cut out sweets, I ate a lot less carbs. I substituted all that for healthy meals and snacks. I had a lot of salad, drank a lot of water, ate more variety, tried not to eat as much starch. Even when it was so tempting to have a bowl of ice cream before bed and curl up in front of the TV, I would, instead of ice cream, have an orange. Instead of watching tv I did crunches, or other workouts. I cut out soda from my diet completely. I ate less dairy. In one school year, my face cleared up completely, I never got a blemish except during very stressful school weeks (there was rarely one stressful enough) I had never been in better shape or had clearer skin. Taking out sugar, no matter how hard it was, if you want to clear up your acne, just commit. Keep picturing the skin you could have and go for it. When you want something sweet have a yogurt smoothie. If you crave a midnight snack, don't have cookies and milk, drink water and have something like a carrot or two. A bag of sugar snap peas is a wonderful snack as well. Cucumber and almonds instead of cheese and crackers.
