The Art Of Shaving: The Perfect Shave (sample trio)
A few months ago I made a Sephora purchase online and one of the samples I chose was for BF, The Art Of Shaving, The Perfect Shave sample trio in Unscented For Sensitive Skin. He finally got around to trying it out this weekend so here's his little review on the samples.
The Art Of Shaving: The 4 Elements of The Perfect Shave
Each step is formulated to give your face exactly what it needs.
1 Prepare: Pre-Shave Oil unscented / (sample: .1oz) 2 oz / $22.00
Product Description: Pre-Shave Oil is the first step in The Art of Shaving. It softens the beard and prepares the skin for a close and comfortable shave without leaving an oily residue. It is formulated with a unique blend of botanical ingredients and essential oils.
How to Use: Before shaving, rub a small amount of oil on your hands and massage into the beard. Lather up Shaving cream or soap on top of the oil and shave.
Michael's Thoughts: I liked this pre-shave oil, it was thick and created a barrier between my skin and the blades. Although it is unscented, it smells kind of like honey comb. I've never used a product before applying shaving cream before. I would like to buy the full size, it makes shaving more comfortable. There's no tugging, no pull - it helps shaving go smoothly and glide along my skin.
2 Lather Up!: Shaving Cream unscented / (sample: .2oz ) / 5oz / $22.00
Product Description: The Art of Shaving Shaving Cream softens and lifts the beard for a close and comfortable shave, and protects the skin from irritation and razor burn. Rich with glycerin, coconut oil and essential oils, the shaving cream leaves your skin smooth and moisturized. It can be lathered up with a shaving brush or with fingers.
How to Use: Always shave during or after a hot shower. Using hot water, lather up a small amount of Shaving Cream with a brush or your fingers and shave with the grain. For a closer shave, re-lather and shave lightly across or against the grain. Rinse with cold water and apply After-shave Balm.
Michael's Thoughts: I liked this shaving cream, it had the consistency of a lotion, it comes out looking like a hand soap but lathers up into a cream. It spreads nicely over the Pre-Shave Oil. I prefer this shaving cream over the store bought, canned shaving cream. Those just don't compare. It kept my skin feeling moisturized all day.
I'm currently using the Schick Hydro 5 razor. I think this process would work better with a straight razor or a razor with less than 5 blades. With the oil and the shaving cream, it takes a while to rinse in between all the blades. I shave in the shower, but if I did it at the sink, rinsing the razor in the sink basin would be best.
4 Moisturize: After-Shave Balm unscented / (sample: .1oz) / 3.4oz / $38.00
Product Description: The Art of Shaving After-Shave Balm refreshes and hydrates to soothe the skin after shaving. Formulated with shea butter and a touch of grapeseed extract, it moisturizes and revitalizes to promote healthy looking skin. Antiseptic and alcohol-free.
How to Use: Apply to face and neck after shaving.
Michael's Thoughts: It's alright, it spread nicely, it moisturized my face, but it has a burning sensation that lasted a couple minutes. At $38 for only 3.4 oz of product, I would buy the full size. I think you can get something similar from the drugstore or department store, at a more affordable price, get more product and have the same results. < Previous Post Next Post >
