The Green Carpet Challenge - Livia Firth
This week I wanted to write a fashion post about Green Fashion. I heard about something called the Green Carpet Challenge. We all know that our favorite stars walk the Red Carpet on awards night but what exactly is the Green Carpet Challenge? I found out that Livia Firth (who is married to actor Colin Firth) is very eco conscious and she was put up to wearing only ethical fashion on the red carpets by a friend she was working with on the "12 Degrees of Ethical Fashion" program (click the link to read more details about the program). They took this challenge to Vogue and now fashion designers for Red Carpet events can be a part of the Green Carpet Challenge. Below are a few fashions from the Green Carpet Challenge.
One of my favorite actresses, Meryl Streep wore a Lanvin's first ever custom made Eco Gown. She looks beautiful and it may have brought her luck on Oscar night!
Viola Davis at the BAFTA's (British Academy Film Awards) wearing the first ever Valentino eco gown. I really love this one and Viola looks absolutely stunning in this gown.
In 2010 at the Golden Globes Livia Firth wore a re-purposed Christiana Couture wedding dress. This is a beautiful gown and they both look great together at this Red Carpet event.
Livia Firth wearing a Valentino eco gown at the Oscars 2012. What a great picture!
If you'd like to read more about Livia's blog you can check it out The Green Carpet Challenge. I like the eco gowns, and hope the trend will be followed by many designers and that some of our favorite celebs will begin wearing these beautiful creations! Thanks to Livia for helping to bring this to the forefront and setting a wonderful trend.
