Dotting Tool for Nails Review
Yesterday I received a package from Born Pretty Store (link here). Born pretty Store is an online store for nail products, some makeup, false eye lashes, and really anything having to do with beauty. I was really excited to try one of their products because they offer such great deals! I wanted to see if the low amount of money would actually get you a nice product.
I choose on the 5 pc. Dotting Set for nails because I love nail art and this looked like something I would use a lot. I choose the marbled dotting tools because they looked really cute, but you can also get a pink version as well. These dotting tools were only $4.74 and you get 5 pieces! That seemed like a great deal, so I was curious as to whether these would actually do what they said they would.
The set comes with 5 different colors of dotting tools. You get green, peach, blue, yellow, and white. I love the marbled design on them, and they look so cute by my nail polish collection.
The dotting tools each have 2 sides, so you get 2 dotters on each tool. One side of the dotter will be bigger than the other so you can create all different sized designs. I also noticed that each dotter is not the same. They all have different sized dotters on them. So, one bigger side will not be the same as another bigger side. They are all different sizes.
I don't think I have ever used a dotting tool before, so it took a little practice, but all in all they were quie easy to get the hang of. They were easy to pick up a bit of product, easy to hold, and super easy to make designs on my nails.
Sorry the tips have paint on them. Haha.
I was also really happy that I could get a picture of the tips because some are really small, some are in the middle, and some are really big. I don't think I will ever have a problem with not having the right size dotter, because you get so many tips!
For the first manicure I am going to show you, I just painted my nails with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Polish in Celeb City. Celeb City is a shimmery silver that only required one coat for nice opacity. I thought the shimmery silver would make for a nice base for the dots I was going to make.
Of course you could do a ton more designs than just polka dots but I really wanted to do a polka dot mani for my first one with this dotter. I will probably post more pictures of manicures that I do in the futrue with this dotting tool as well, though.
After painting my nails with Celeb City, I just make tiny dots in all different colors on each nail. I used the following polishes.
- LA Colors Art Deco Polish in Yellow.
- Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Blue Me Away
- OPI Who the Shrek Are You?
- OPI Hot and Spicy
- Essie Mint Candy Apple.
I really like the way this manicure turned out! To me it looks so cute and the colors really look nice on the silver. Plus, it was a piece of cake to create. I just dipped the dotters in the bottle of polish and dotted them on my nails. I used all of the tips to I could get a feel for the way they all look.
Then, I had a genius idea to apply my Sephora by OPI Blasted Nail Color in Indigo on top which is like a crackle polish. I have to say, I LOVE the way this turned out,
Sorry for the messy pain job! UGH, my cuticles look terrible! LOL. Anyway, I took these pics right after I finished the mani so I didn't clean up my cuticles first. Then i was so tired, i took some pretty sloppy pics. Im sorry, but you can stills see how cool the mani looks!
Overall, I love these dotters and can't think of a single reason to complain. For under $5, these are such a value! Plus, I have a special code for you!
