Clarasonic v. Olay Professional

The Clarisonic is a professional style cleansing brush that deeply cleans your skin. It consists of a rechargeable electric handle unit, and removable brush head(s), which use a sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to cleanse the skin.

Why is this so impressive? Use of the Clarisonic not only cleanses the skin, but also helps reduce dry patches, blemishes, and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Facial products are also absorbed better, getting the most out of your pricey creams and serums.

The system is a tad pricey, starting at $149 for the travel size model and almost $200 for the original model.

However, Olay has released a similar product called the Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System. At $30, it’s a cheaper alternative to the Clarisonic and promises to be just as effective.

I tried both systems, and the Clarasonic won hands down. The biggest difference is that the Clarasonic is easier to maneuver during use. The Pro X had a spinning brush attachment, while the Clarasonic’s actual brush bristles are what moves, making it super easy to use. The Pro X was all over the place. Also the quality in brush attachments  made a big difference. The Clarasonic’s was softer and felt better against the skin, while the Pro X felt harsh.

If you’re tight on money, I’m sure the Pro X is better than nothing. However I suggest you save up for a better overall experience with the Clarasonice!

I have the Clarisonic Mia 2 and I love it. I've never tried the Olay one, but I've heard its good for the price of under $50. I do think the Clarisonic is worth the investment, just because of the results and difference it makes in your skin. I love mine.

With Youthgul Essence you were basically joining their club, so they gave the brush tool free, but you would be committing to ordering their products each month (they had different levels of pricing) but you would get the creams, facial cleansers, new sponges for your tool etc. each month for a set price.  So even though the tool is free, you are spending a set amount each month.  Which isn't bad if you like the products.

Oh nice! How does the Youthful Essence compare in price?

Thanks for the review.  I've used the one that came with the Youthful Essence products (by Susan Lucci) and it is great on the skin also.  This one has a brush too and it's also soft on the skin.  They also have sponges to clean the skin and a massager that works great if you have a headache.  It really soothes the forehead if that's where your headache is centered. These tools are great to have for good skin.   Great review!
