One of the worst lip products ever......
If you read my review of the first Sally Hansen lip product I tried- the Ultra Soothing Lip Tint then you would know that I am not the hugest fan of the Sally Hansen lip products. Nail polishes? Another story! I love Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Extreme Wear polishes and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polishes. But the lip products definetly need work- at least in my opinion.
So, when I spotted this Natural Butter Lip Shimmer at Dollar Tree for only $1- I thought that I should try it. Now, I know what you guys may be thinking. You hated a brands lip products- so you bought another one? I realize that in real life that just sound stupid and I could have used my $1 for something that I knew I would like. But, being a beauty blogger I felt the need to give good ol' Sally another chance. On this blog, I try to offer a variety of brands and I know some of you guys may really want to try Sally Hansen lip products and want to know what they are like. So, this lip product was calling my name!
I choose the color Instinct which is a nice, light peachy/coral. I really like the color, and I thought it seemed perfect for Autumn. The color is almost identical to the early stages of the leaves turning to Autumn colors. So, perfect color....right?
Being a lip shimmer I expected that this would have some pigmentation to it kind of like the Wet n Wild Shimmer ones(I personally did not like the color I tried.- Sugar. It was a little too 70's for me. But- it DID have some pigmentation). But...no. This is basically clear. Let me show you-
This is after 6 swipes of the stick across my hand. Terrible! I guess this would be okay for someone that really wanted just a hint of sheer coral on their lips. But, that is not what the product promised to do. It said to REALLY add color to your lips. Lying to me again Sally?
When I realized that this product is lacking in pigmentation, I tried everything to at least find a use for this so-called lip butter. But, the thing is I couldn't! Tried it over a lip stain(a MESS!), on my cheeks as cream blush(a sticky MESS), on my lips alone(a sheer MESS) and everything in between. But, I guess this product is useless. Everything I tried this lip butter for- turned out to be a mess.
At LEAST this could be moisturizing and I could use it as a overlight lip treatment. But...no. I know that a lip butter is normally moisturizing like the Korress Lip butter or the Essence of Beauty Lip butter. But, no. This is actually kind of drying. UGH.
I was really disapointed because this was expected to be pretty. A lip shimmer should be shimmery. This looked like craft glitter on my lips. And no- I did not re-visit kindergarten.
WELL, Sally you let me down again. UGH. Not again, I will NOT fall for Sally's lip products anymore.
