After years of too much eyeliner, I have learned a couple of things..........
There are common mistakes that everyone (yes, everyone) makes from time to time. After experimenting with makeup and skincare since my early teens and looking silly a lot of the time, I have some basic tips nailed down.
1. Start with good skincare
You know the rules: drink water, never sleep in your makeup, always wear sun screen, don't smoke, and moisturize dailly. If you start with healthy clear skin, any makeup you apply will look more natural and flawless.
2. Work with what you have
If you don't have chiseled features, lay off the contour makeup. You're not fooling anyone. If you are naturally fair skinned, why so much tanning/bronzer? give it up, it doesn't suit your face and will not look natural.
3. Pick dramatic eyes or lips, not both
The fastest way to look like a drag queen is a smokey eye with a bright red lip. When too much focus is on your makeup, your natural beauty doesn't get enough attention.
4. Less is more
Makeup is fun an is fun to collect. But, you don't need to wear your whole collection everyday. Too much makeup will take away from your features and make you look fake. You are beautiful just the way you are, no need to hide behind all that junk!
