Can Booze Wreck A Gal’s Complexion?

{by} Sasha | Crows' Feet, Cupcakes, and Celluite

So, for some reason, when Friday rolls around I switch to “cocktail” mode (I tend to drink wine during the week). There’s something so Sex In The City about a cocktail (my personal fav: a Cosmo made with Greygoose L’Orange. I heart you, L’Orange Cosmo). But by the end of the weekend, my skin often looks like I have a mild case of Chickenpox. So, do I have to become a teetotaler or can I be a part-time lush and still have a clear, blemish-free complexion come Monday? The answer is yes…and no. Per my research, I found that it entirely depends on the person. Alcohol can cause some to break out like it’s your first year of high school (due to things like hormones, dehydration, and sugar levels) while others are totally unaffected.  I, unfortunately, fall into the first group (insert sobbing here). So what’s a girl to do?  Well, for starters, a good wash is a must (while you might be tempted, DON’T go to bed without washing that gorgeous face of yours, ladies). A tried-and-true favorite of mine is Neutrogena’s Oil Free Acne Wash (and at around $5 bucks, you can afford buy that new lip gloss you’ve been stalking).  To boot, a good spot treatment is also a gotta-have. I don’t know how I ever lived without Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. This pretty lil’ pink stuff has gotten rid of many a post-Happy Hour blemish in a jiffy.

So, should you kick the booze to keep the pimples at bay? That’s a toughie. I think I’ll choose Happy Hour, keep an acne arsenal handy, and take my chances…
