My Anti-Aging Skincare Routine
Many of you know about my love for the Origins Skincare line. I’ve been using Origins regularly and exclusively for the last five months. Let me just start off by saying that I am not in any way affiliated with Origins though I wouldn’t complain if I was. I love this product because I can see the transformation that my skin has made since I’ve been using it. My skin is combination though it seems to be tending toward oily now that the temperatures are back in the 80’s and our wonderful Florida humidity is back. I also am trying to reduce and fight the signs of aging and I have a new favorite for that exact skincare complaint. When it came time to place my order for the items I was running low on, I decided to pick up two new products. This haul set me back about $150 but I feel like I got a lot of stuff. I waited until they were offering a good promotion and was thrilled with my bonuses!
My April Haul:
- My third (and fourth) bottle of Checks and Balances cleanser ($18.50 but the second bottle I got free)
- A Perfect World Lotion ($21.00)
- Plantscription ($55.00)
- My second tube of VitaZing Moisturizer ($35.00)
The second bottle of cleanser that I received in my haul was free as part of their Earth Day promotion (a $18.50 value)! I also got a really cute recycle tote for free that my daughter loved so much I had to give it to her. I did splurge and pay for the overnight shipping but I was OUT of toner and this one is different from the last one I got. I also wanted to get a full bottle of the Plantscription serum as I had used up my 1-month sample supply (more on that later).
Every morning and night I start by cleansing my face with the Checks and Balances cleanser. Just a teeny drop the size of a pea is plenty, it really foams up beautifully. A bottle should last about two months but since my husband uses it too, it lasts about a month so I was happy I got the free bottle. Best for all skin types Origins says, “Broad Leaf Kelp Extract discourages excess oil production, while Wheat Protein balances and protects dry prone zones. And Tourmaline actually makes water wetter to more easily disperse dirt and sebum down the drain. There’s also aromatic Bergamot, Spearmint and Lavender to add pleasure to the process. Skin feels comfortably refreshed after cleansing, never tight, pulled or parched”. This cleanser smells minty and fresh and you feel revitalized after you use it. It’s my favorite cleanser of the many that I’ve used.Step 2
After cleansing I apply the A Perfect World Age Defense Treatment Lotion with White Tea. I HAD BEEN using United State which was a balancing tonic and I really liked it. But now that my focus is on anti-aging, I thought I’d give this one a try. It smells really nice and it’s made with Silver Tip White Tea plus revitalizing Trehalose and they claim it serves up “…an extra helping of hydration to keep skin comfortable and noticeably smooth”. It is really for combination/dry skin but I have been noticing a lot of dryness on my forehead, chin and cheek area.Step 3
Once I’ve cleansed and toned I apply the Plantscription Anti-Aging Serum. This claims that in 4 weeks there will be a noticeable reduction in wrinkle length and depth. I received a sample of this that lasted almost the full 4 weeks and I can honestly say I did notice a dramatic reduction in the fine lines and wrinkles around my mouth and eye area. My skin felt healthier to the touch and it looked more vibrant and youthful. I was so impressed I felt that it was well worth the $55 investment. I’m curious to see how much more the results improve as I continue to use it over the coming months. This is best for all skin types.Step 4
This is where my morning routine and my night routine differ. In the morning I use my beloved VitaZing SPF 15 Energy Boosting Moisturizer. It contains Mangosteen which is an anti-oxidant and it creates a natural looking glow with these little tan colored beads that make it ALMOST like a tinted moisturizer. It just adds a glow that is natural and fresh so you could literally just put it on and 10 seconds later you could walk out the door. I love that it’s an all-in-one product because I LOVE to save money. At $35, this is a true bargain and again ALL skin types can use it.
- Best for firming, lifting & tightening, lines & wrinkles
- For combination/oily skin
It smooths the contours of the face and lifts and tightens while helping to reduce signs of aging. I did notice great improvement but it wasn’t until I added the Plantscription did I notice the disappearance of the actual lines of my face.Step 5
My final step in my daily routine is my eye cream. Many people skip this step and I encourage you all to consider the benefits to a good, high quality eye cream. My morning cream is the GinZing Eye Cream. This cream claims that you will notice:
- 86% brighter appearance
- 80% reduction in puffiness
I use this cream for those exact reasons. I usually wake up with dark, puffy eyes and this cream brings the life back. I love how creamy this product is and how it works nearly instantly. By the time I’m applying my concealer, I don’t need as much as I might have had I not used this before applying my makeup. All skin types can use this product.
“Origins visionary formula instantly makes skin under eyes look and feel unbelievably smooth, renewed, relaxed. Vitamin A firms and tones. Mica brightens, dark circles lighten. And nature's avant-guardian, Silver Tip White Tea, blocks oxidation while White Birch Extract helps lessen the appearance of new creases, crinkles, lines and wrinkles in the future.”
Again, all skin types can use this. I use it because I feel like I’m giving my eyes a treatment every night when I go to bed.
Additional Step (2-3 times per week)
A few times a week when my skin seems a little dull and unhappy, I add a facial scrub to my routine. Immediately after cleansing either morning or night I use the Modern Friction (Nature’s Gentle Dermabrasion). This product is different from other exfoliators because it doesn’t use harsh abrasives to remove the dead cells. Rice starch deals with the dead cells and rough patches while Lemon Oil starts the illumination process. Finally, Aloe keeps the skin calm and comfortable. I love that I don’t have to spend a fortune on chemical dermabrasion treatments in the salon (which I have done). This product works better because it does the job naturally and gently and ALL skin types can use it.Wrap Up
So that’s it, that’s my routine for my sometimes Oily-Combination, sometimes Dry-Combination starting to age, skin. I know this sounds exactly like a commercial but really, honestly, truly this is what I do everyday and I love the results. As I said, I had the strangest skin because parts were really oily while parts were really dry. I had many breakouts on my chin and cheek area and I was beginning to see lines and wrinkles. I’m ONLY 37!!!!! I’m not ready for that yet! I’m just happy I found something that works FOR ME and I wanted to share that with you. If you try these products let me know how they work for you! Your skin is the foundation for your makeup. Makeup is meant to accentuate what you have, so if you have beautiful skin you won’t need to use makeup to cover what you don’t. I hope this helps!< Previous Post Next Post >
