Review: Revlon Colour Burst Lipstick in Mauve

"Never trust a woman who wears mauve, whatever her age may be, or a woman over thirty-five who is fond of pink ribbons. It always means that they have a history." - from Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray

Well, I don't know if that includes lipstick, but if it does I guess I am not to be trusted. Take that as your warning. I've said before that lipstick and I have a love/hate relationship, but in the past while I have been reaching for it more and more. I find it hard to buy in the store though, they all start to look the same as what I already have at home, so I like to go prepared with a list of what I am looking for (read: nerd.) Today I was in Shopper's Drug Mart (surprise, surprise) to get a few Revlon Super Lusterous lipsticks (on sale for
$3.99) and had my handy list with me. I couldn't find what I wanted so I didn't get anything. Shocking! I know.

Where was I going with this... Right, this is not only a great colour but the formula is everything you could ever want in a lipstick: smooth, light feeling, non drying. That has to be my biggest peeve, lipsticks that glide on smoothly and feel great at first then end up leaving your lips dry and ugh-ly. This lipstick feels moisturizing, I wouldn't go so far as to say it will moisturize but it feels great and doesn't dry your lips out.

The colour is perfect, a mauvey pink that isn't too purple. I find mauve type purples work well on me, but it can be a hard colour range to find the right type. This shade isn't too dark, but still has a bit of a pink undertone to it. The finish has a slight shine to it, which I like. Wear wise... I find it wears away a bit faster than other lipsticks I've used, but I am no expert in that department and I don't mind reapplying.

The tube on this is great too, it is sleek black and silver with a quilted pattern on two sides of the tube. The cap clicks tightly, so there shouldn't be any possibility of purse "oh no's". I would pick up more Colour Burst shades, but I would wait until they go on sale. At $11.99 a pop they are tad steep. I have noticed that Revlon lipsticks are almost always on sale somewhere if you take the time to look.

Have you tried this lipstick? What other Colour Burst shades do you like?
