Season after season hairstylists tell us that ponytails are going to be a huge trend. And we get it -- they're versatile, quick, and easy. But that doesn't mean we aren't bored. At least we were bored -- until the Golden Globes. While there were very few ponytails on the red carpet, Nicole Richie turned up wearing this "waterfall" version. The style was the handiwork of Suave Professionals stylist Jenny Cho, and it was modern, pretty, and the exact opposite of an I-just-came-from-the-gym ponytail.

Here's how to get the look:

Step 1: For maximum volume and height, start with a generous amount of dry shampoo like Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo, $4.49. Spray it at your roots, concentrating on your crown, and brush it through.
Step 2: Create three top sections using the hair at your crown and two sides. Then, tease the crown section, and smooth out the sides.
Step 3: Pull the underneath section into a regular ponytail and secure it in place.
Step 4: Wrap one side section around the base of the ponytail, followed by the other, securing each with a bobby pin.
Step 5: Smooth the "waterfall" crown section over the ponytail, and you're ready to go -- to a party, that is, not to the gym.
